Not so strange however, in a world where everyone loses those miraculous powers about the same time they begin to shave or check for pimples.
But Katine isn't concerned about pimples. She’s worried about her stepfather, who along with the rest of her rickety fish-stinky village, has gone and spontaneously vanished. She’s anxious over the revelation that she’s the last surviving elf in the world (as if she really needed one more reason to feel utterly alone).
And she’s absolutely tormented about the recently fading ingredient in the recipe of herself—her magic. But as worrisome as all that may be, none of it compares to the worries awaiting her in her search for the man who fished her cold and limp from the sea all those years ago. Crotchety rocks, schizophrenic pirates, poetic monsters, tea-addled wizards, and mouthy princesses are only a few of the concerns that lie square in her path.
Well, all those and maybe—just maybe—one impossible (and only slightly sinister) chance to keep her magic forever . . .
