This book helps you answer two questions, “How do I make my scripture study more effective?” and “What should I study today?” It is a guide to help you, and your family, during your daily scripture study devotional. There are many Book of Mormon commentaries and study guides available that give the author’s perspective on the Book of Mormon. This book is not one of them. The great truths of the Book of Mormon, particularly those that will be of greatest benefit to you, are found by going directly to the source then listening to the promptings of the Spirit. The study guide allows you to fully customize your daily devotional based on the amount of time you have available. It is divided into seven Read, Look For, Ask Yourself, Ponder This Quote, Expand Your Understanding, Personal Application, and Prayer. This format allows you to select those activities that match both your needs and your time. For example, if you find you have limited time on a particular day you may only want to read the assignment and pray. On other days you can use the additional activities to expand your study and deepen your understanding. Following this pattern of scripture study and using these tools will lead you to ponder the Book of Mormon and will help you strengthen your testimony of its truthfulness as you listen to the Spirit. Additionally, it will aid you in obtaining the blessings promised by Elder Marion G. Romney in the April 1980 LDS General "And so, I counsel you, my beloved brothers and sisters and friends everywhere, to make reading in the Book of Mormon a few minutes each day a lifelong practice. All of us need continuing close contact with the Spirit of the Lord. We need to take the Holy Spirit for our guide that we be not deceived. I am persuaded by my own experience and that of my loved ones, as well as by the statement of the Prophet Joseph Smith, that one can get and keep closer to the Lord by reading the Book of Mormon than by reading any other Book. Don't be content with what someone else says about what is in it. Drink deeply from the divine fountain itself. "I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to that counsel. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity--the pure love of Christ--will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness." (Conference Report, April 1980; 112-113) Update Edition 2 (March 2014) Contains links to the LDS.org scriptures site for each of the reading assignments. Additionally a number of minor error corrections have been made to the original edition. It also contains a corrections to a few minor errors in the cross reference sections. Edition 2.2 (18 May 14) Contains additional minor corrections and updates to the cross references. I like a few things to about this book. It is nice that it links to the scriptures. I really liked a lot of the quotes. I was able to use them in the lessons I taught in Relief Society and it was nice to be able to tie it to the scriptures.
This is also a good way to motivate yourself to read the Book of Mormon in one year.
I love using this book to supplement my BoM scripture study. I like how they're several activities to make your scripture more meaningful, although u don't have to do them all. You choose which activities that you want to do based on your needs and how much time u have.
My only complaint is I wish make it in the paper-back form.
This helped me out in so many ways! If you felt like a looser! It would remind me that l am a child! Things have been tough the last of 2018! 😇by reading this it helped.
Already wrote my review! But every thing l read was helping me in so many ways! But then thing have got hard my husband and I separated and l still kept going to church! But since I had to move to Elko, Nevada it has been hard. Very different life style! But I'm trying! My Husband has taken ill and between living where l am. Going back to salt lake l haven't been to go to my new ward all the time. Without this l don't think I would have made it . Being far away from the temple! Our Lord watches over use and guides me. I'm going back and read it again with the help of the book my sister have me for Christmas! (The Book of Mormon made Easier PART ONE. ) see ya next year. God Bless all.
This is a beautiful book! One that enables study of thought-provoking Concepts, and especially draws the power of the spirit as we read. As a daily scripture study, this book can't be beat
I so enjoyed reading this every day. I am going to start all over tomorrow. Every time I learn something new. And the quotes from the General Authorities are timely and beneficial
The reading assignment is manageable. I love the layout and the additional quotes and thoughts. This helps me spend time each day reading from the Book of Mormon. I highly recommend it!
Easy to use and follow with plenty of cross references and a conference talk quote each day. I have used this book for a few years and recommend it to anyone wanting to read and study the Book of Mormon.
a nice way to read the book of mormon and words of living prophets in bite sized chunks. it helped me fulfil my ward and stake goals without getting too overwhelmed
This is a great book to help us think more about the book of Mormon. The only drawback I see is a technical one. I wish that it would link to the gospel library instead of to the LDS website. I can't get the LDS website unless I'm on Wi-Fi but the gospel library is right on my device. I'm sure most people who have this book also have the gospel library.and yes, of course, I can just leave Kindle and go to the gospel library and then come back to Kindle but I'm lazy.
