As a friend of the author and a fellow foster parent, the pages of this book were a balm to my soul. Hearing more details of the Schmucker family’s experiences with Jackie was heart-wrenching, and truly convicting to see how God has redeemed their trials. Although we have not parented any mentally ill foster children, we could deeply identify with the challenges of parenting traumatized children and the frustrations of navigating broken government systems that make things worse for kids and foster families, even though they claim to be be acting for their good. What a blessing this book is, and I will most certainly be gifting it to my friends who are considering foster care or adoption.

If you have a child struggling with mental illness, this book will be a tremendous help to you. Highly recommend!
