Three years after his victory in the Carl Lee Hailey case, Jake Brigance believes his glory days as a trial lawyer are gone. Jake's commitment to his profession is revived when he is called on to defend Seth Hubbard’s seemingly incredible decision to disinherit his family and name his black housekeeper as his beneficiary. In Sycamore Row , Jake searches for an answer as he returns to the courtroom arena in a legal battle against larger, well-financed law firms. As Jake pursues justice at all costs, the prejudices, racial tensions, and southern social structures of 1950s Mississippi are once again explored under John Grisham's pen.

I've read most of Grishams books. Some better than others. The best was A Time to Kill. Sycamore Row was very entertaining and fast moving. Didn't see the end coming and couldn't predict it anywhere along the way. It kept me enthralled and hard to put down. I loved it.
Ok I'm a great fan of Grisham but was somewhat disappointed, in fact greatly disappointed with this latest submission! First couple of chapters seemed ok but then it felt like a rewrite of Time to Kill. The awful thing that 'no kid should see' was something of a let down, nothing new really and left till the penultimate page to make sure you finished the book! Mr Grisham needs to turn back the pages and come up with something more original! Sorry
This book reminded me why I like John Grisham. What great storytelling! It elicited emotion from me on several levels. The book was easy to follow, and a captivating read. The characters were-developed and believable. Nice job of bringing resolution to all the storylines. I could see this as a movie with Matthew McConaughey as the lead.
This brought back the thrill of A Time to Kill. Excellent read, the ending was great, I had no clue. His other novels were good reads, but this and A Time to Kill are great. Hope he writes more based in good old Miss. Love these characters and the setting.
First of all, I love Grisham's novels. This one was excellent. You are hooked from the exposition; you know there will be complications; the complications wow you, and the ending is a doozy!
