A fairly good thriller about a group of women in Los Angeles, Dionne, Alexis, Zoe, Chanel and Val, who were sorority sisters at Arcadia in Northern California. In a 2025 trial Travis Wolfe was convicted of killing their sixth sister, Lupe, when they were all present (or present adjacent.). Now Travis is being released after ten years in prison because of prosecutorial error.
One of the women has a party, reuniting sorority sisters. Zoe disappears.
There were some things I liked about the book. The women are all African-American, but the book does not lean too heavily into this to the exclusion of all else. There are plenty of references, but mostly they are just people (albeit mostly wealthy, beautiful people) going through a terrible experience.
On the other side, the book was 400 pages, far too long. I thought it was easy to tell who the bad guy was going to be and I also predicted and few of the other “twists,” if you can even call them that. The book was well written, but I thought the plotting could have been better.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early release of Zetas Til We Die by Amber and Danielle Brown. All opinions are my own. This was a mediocre thriller that had me intrigued by the synopsis but fell short during the reading experience. I did not really connect with the characters which made it hard for me to connect with the book. This was not bad by any means it just was not very shocking to me. The twists and plots seemed pretty obvious to me. If you are newer to thrillers you will probably enjoy this one more than an avid thriller reader.

“Zetas till we die” is a who dunnit style mystery thriller that follows the entangled lives of multiple women who are connected by their past experiences of being Zeta sorority sisters at uni together where a murder occured.
The majority of the plot is set in present day where all the women are grown and leading adult lives and thrown back into the past when the so called ‘murderer’ is released from prison.
I was a fan of the main character, I enjoyed the side plot about her career in couples therapy and how this interlaced with her own relationships in present day.
I enjoy the themes of sisterhood and loyalties, taking secrets to the grave to protect your people whilst battling with the opposite of the spectrum, deceit and betrayal. I found that the characters had depth and potential for growth which gave the plot a touch of relatability.

OKAY WOW! This books was soo good! This book had me spouting theories, it’s had me so full of Anxiety from the suspense that my Apple Watch told me my heart rate was above 120 for 10+minutes😅 and omg that end! So good! I swear, the last half an hour of this book had my heart racinggg!

Hmmm maybe 4.3 🌟. I have been on a roll with books lately. This one tugged at the heart strings. I did figure out who the killer was, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

After reading this sister author duo’s 3rd book, it’s easy to predict how the story will play out. There are several repeat themes that I notice in their books and now I know just what to expect.
The premise was great! In Zetas I thought there would be more longstanding collegiate drama and suspense, but this one followed the sorority sisters years later, 10 years after the death of one of their line sisters. And now, more sisters start to get hurt.
There are dual past/present timelines, lots of marital drama, and a bit of suspense happening, but it never fully reigned me in. It was just too long winded.
This one didn’t quite hit the mark for me, but I’d still check out more from these authors in hopes of something fresh, lively and different!

I’ll skip the plot and get right to the review! Or… mostly. Going in, I assumed based on the cover that this book was going to take place *in* a sorority house and center on the lives of the sisters in college. Clearly I didn’t read the synopsis, so I was pleasantly surprised to spend the majority of the pages of this book with the characters ~10-15 years *post grad* as fully formed adult women.
I really enjoyed this book—the characters had a lot of realness and depth to them, and they felt very multi-dimensional and I felt like I could imagine them as actual people I might meet in real life. I also thought the plot felt *mostly* feasible—if a bit of a stretch. The main thing I couldn’t suspend disbelief around after watching too many episodes of Law and Order is the initial trial transcripts sprinkled throughout. The initial murder case this is based around felt VERY shoddy, which I guess made the supposed killer’s release more realistic.
I thought the narrative around the FMC being a couple’s therapist and her own marital issues was really compelling. I also liked the red herrings sprinkled throughout.
Overall, I’d absolutely reccomend this—esp if you’re looking for a “who done it” pallet cleanser.

This had a good premise, but overall, the mystery was lackluster. For the genre, the pace was too slow, and it could've benefited from a much tighter edit. The plot was quite predictable, and there was minimal character development. Some plot points felt forced or unnecessary. Nothing about the story will stick with me now that the final page has been turned.

One girl from a sorority is found dead at the bottom of the stairs with a boy who’s been allegedly stalking her hovering over her body. The sorority sister, Priscilla, who finds her believes he’s the one to do it and with the help of her sisters, they build a case that gets him convicted for her murder. 10 years later, he is released as the math just ain’t mathin, and as the sorority sisters start getting picked off one by one - Priscilla believes he’s back to get revenge.
This book had potential, it was an easy read - I never felt like i struggled to get through it and enjoyed the past/present/trial POVs. Unfortunately though, overall, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. For one, it was too long. There was so much unnecessary detail included in this book and I found the brand references, descriptive language, and self-absorbed thoughts of the characters distracting. It reminded me of “In my dreams I hold a knife” but just because the sisters were just as insufferable as the frat characters in that book - I sometimes don’t know if the authors were intending for their characters to be unlikeable... And then building off this, I just wasn’t invested in the characters - I quite often had to flip back to figure out who was who. Even when characters start getting picked off the FMC is still trying to seduce her husband - it just didn’t seem realistic. There was also other plot holes and parts that didn’t quite add up or seem to fit with the narrative, and this resulted in the ending falling flat for me. There also was some lost opportunities here to make the twists hit home a bit more: for example - husband’s secret didn’t land as he was a side story, the FMC not getting the opportunity to confront the one who was responsible for the initial event was also disappointing.

my thoughts before reading the book:
1. as a member of a BGLO, i’d been side-eyeing this since i heard about it based on the title and the name of the sorority in this book, “Zeta Phi Zeta". the authors knew what they were doing. they really could’ve named this book and the sorority literally anything else. there are several other letters in the Greek alphabet that are not so closely related to actual Divine Nine sororities. but i still wanted to give it a chance. which brings me to my next thought…
2. as a READER. Chi. Pi. Xi. Psi. Phi. they were all RIGHT THERE. if your characters just HAD to be in a sorority. you could've at least made the title rhyme. “Xi ’Til We Die” or “Chi ’Til We Die” has a much better ring to it, no? which circles me back to my previous thought. the authors knew what they were doing.

This book took me so long to finish. It had a strong start that petered out pretty quickly. Only reason I finished the book was because no one else on the internet said who the killer was. Even then, I just jumped to the end of the book and read the relevant chapters to figure out what happened. So for those wondering but not wanting to finish the book:
Dionne accidentally killed Lupé while Dionne and Zoë were in a physical fight. They framed Travis so Dionne wouldn’t get in legal trouble. Pricilla never knew and genuinely thought Travis was guilty until Chanel told her what really happened after Zoë, Alexis and Dionne were murdered. Pricilla finds out her husband, Kenan, has been cheating on her with the anesthesiologist at the hospital and also figures out that Val is the one killing everyone as revenge. Val found out the night of the reunion from Zoë that the girls are the ones responsible for Lupés death. Travis and Pricilla go to save Chanel who is unaware of Val’s murderous status and in the process Travis is killed while defending Pricilla. Chanel is gravelly injured but survives same with Pricilla. Book ends with Pricilla and Kenan getting divorced and Chanel and Pricilla ending their friendship. Val did not survive her injuries she sustained during the Act 3 fight.

4.5 stars rounded down. Absolutely loved this. Constant twists and turns that had me trying to beat the characters to solve the murders! These girls are all so messy and felt like an episode of the Kardashians. I couldn't put this book down once I started. The finale was very satisfying, and overall this was a great thriller

Book 25 for 2025! 4.5/5 stars for this mystery/thriller read. Super entertaining story. Love the found family/sisterhood aspect. Great story. Definitely recommend! Was a bit long, but not unnecessarily so.

This book was very interesting! At first I really struggled with how slow the story was. The past time line was so minor at the beginning and did not add to the story until much later. Like I wish we would have see more of the past in detail at the beginning of the story instead of the repetitive I felt like I got from the first fortyish percent of this book. It took so long first the first buddy to be found and then all the sudden more people were dying. But when everybody started dying things will started to build in the story!! There was some plot points that I felt like did not really add to the story. They were suppose to be distraction to keep you from figuring out the "mystery" but they were just adding words and pages. I did not feel like they actually effected the story in big ways to have been such "big" things. Once everything got going tho I was there for the story! The last 20% was great!! The big plot twist that came about the past was so well done and had me gasping out loud. If you like Mysteries this is a good one to add to your TBR. The last thing I will say is: Justice for Travis.

The Zeta sisters are brought back together at a huge reunion rager thrown by the President Priscilla. All is fun and games until one of them is missing by morning… and another is attacked a day later.. is the man they put away for murdering their fellow Zeta a decade ago finally coming back for his revenge?
We mainly get Prissy’s point of view, and I really enjoyed watching everything unfold in her eyes. The big reveal was cinematic and intense, not something I was expecting in the slightest! I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book too.
Highly recommend this one for a fast paced murder mystery esque read!

This is my second read of this sister author duo, and I really enjoyed it. Told in two timelines, past and present, I thought that while this took a little while to set up, the dual timeline worked well here. I was vested from the start and did not see the ending coming at all. I am looking forward to seeing what this duo writes next!

The Zetas reunite after 10 years of being apart. The last time they saw each other was during the murder trial of their sister, Lupé, where they testified that they were convinced her stalker killed her. At the reunion party, it comes up how Lupé’s killer was recently released. The women think nothing of it, until their friend Zoë doesn’t return home after the Zeta party at Priscilla’s house. Priscilla begins her own investigation into what happened to Zoë, and if the rest of them are safe.
Wow, this book had me on the edge of my seat! I did not want to put it down. It had the perfect amount of twists and moments of shock. While I was able to get an idea of what the reveal might be, the writing made my doubt myself multiple times while reading. Just when you think you know what’s going on, you’re so wrong. I also loved the ending - which was jam-packed with action as they battled the antagonist. The wrap up in the end was bittersweet, and I appreciated the messaging within. Also why did I tear up a few times?? lol. I honestly have no notes; it was perfectly executed in my opinion. I would love to read more from this duo!

It was very clear what was going on, but it didn't take away from the story. The build up made it worth it. I liked it! It kept me engaged and the pacing was just right.

This was 4.5 stars rounded up. I really, really liked this mystery from start to finish. It kept me guessing and I think I figured it out a million different times…but not really. The characters and story line were vivid and interesting and the surprises kept coming. Though I felt like some parts of the book were written slightly immaturely (hence the 4.5 stars), the actual writing style was great, the book intense, and the ending was excellent.

I really wanted to like this one. The storyline was interesting. The crime was well thought out, if not a little predictable. The characters were diverse.
But the pacing was soooooo bad. This story dragged and dragged… there were parts of it I was fully engrossed in and other parts that I just wanted to skim past to get to the better stuff. There was so much unnecessary fluff added to the story that did absolutely nothing to further the overall story and it made it difficult to really get invested.
I thought parts of it were a tad far fetched too, conclusions weren’t jumped to that should have been and other things …

But the pacing was soooooo bad. This story dragged and dragged… there were parts of it I was fully engrossed in and other parts that I just wanted to skim past to get to the better stuff. At first I was totally drawn in! I was flying through the first part of this story because there was just so much going and so many mysteries! The middle part was intriguing with all the secrets coming out all the crazy things happening. However, the ending was not really what I was hoping for after getting the whole story. I also wasn’t a huge fan of all the infidelities that were going on. I think the fractures of the main character’s relationship with her husband really made me not as interested in the story. Overall it was a twisty, mostly exciting book, but in the end I wasn’t super impressed.

400 pages was so unnecessary. The slow pacing for most of the book was the reason for me taking so long to finish it. It did pick up the last third of the book. But I will say, like the other book I read by the Brown sisters, they do enough that you do want to find out the big reveal(s) so at least they have that going for them lol
