Stunning visuals and a great story which flips back and forward in time . The story combines science and history, set in King’s Cross giving the area another dimension Well worth a read!
This was a great graphic novel. The story was strong, and I enjoyed reading it. It was very difficult to put down. I like the cover. It was eye-catching. The artwork inside the graphic novel was extremely well done. The colours were excellent too - very vibrant. The writing was good, and it flowed well. The speech bubbles were easy to follow, and there was no confusion. The setting was mainly in London, past and present. There were also some past and present scenes in Toronto, Canada. This worked well in the story's context. I enjoyed all the characters. Alex was excellent, and her personal struggles were well written with sensitivity. I recommend this, and I look forward to the next volume.
The Panharmonion Chronicles: Times of London is the first book in the sci-fi thriller & horror graphic novel series by Henry Chebane and Stephen Baskerville and it was such a great start. The dual timelines were an interesting aspect and it’s one of my favourite elements. The illustrations are brilliant and I absolutely loved the art style which fit the story perfectly and made everything feel so dark, immersive and thrilling.
This is a very action packed story with a strong plot that kept me hooked and the mixture of history and modern society added to its pros. I loved the characters and found them quite unique (and sometimes mysterious).
Overall, the atmosphere was thrilling and eerie in the best way and I cannot wait to read the next books in the series.
This was my first graphic novel and it was so much fun. I loved the alternative London and magic system. The artwork was stunning and really bought the story to life. I was worried that this style would mean you would get the same depth of character development and story as a traditional book but I was happy to be proved wrong and had a great time reading this book. If you’re thinking of trying a different format this is a great one to start with.
"The Panharmonion Chronicle" which challenges every aspect of the concept of equity that we pride on or the high pedestal that we believe we or some Individuals/Institutions/Countries place themselves on to earn the right to lecture others.
The graphic representation is a simple yet very interesting read that dwells on various aspects simultaneously and like any great book gives you a different perspective every time you read it.
I personally can't wait for Volume 2 but until then I will explore other perspectives that this read will give me.
For ease for your exploration:
📖 Title: "The Panharmonion Chronicles: Times of London"
🧠 Why You'll Love It: Its a classic #cocktail, an old fashioned with the kick of #absinthe
🎨 Author: Henry Chebaane – a wizard when it comes to storytelling, be it through his writing, his design or his music. A beautiful soul who stays grounded, irrespective of the success achieved.
✅ My Verdict: Two reads in 3 days and each read was cover to cover without putting it down. Irrespective of age the content gives you various perspectives and relevance to the age and time of self righteousness that we live in.
This is a quality work. Graphical novels need to be as stylish visually as they are compelling with their storyline and The Panharmonium Chronicles: Times of London doesn’t disappoint. The artwork style complements the setting and content of the narrative well. In one or two places early on the panels seem to be too plentiful for the place in the storyline but perhaps that was just my interest pushing me on to see what was is unfolding. The full page plates are cool. Personally I would have liked a couple more.
The story jumps around a timeline or two. A common enough plot device. In this case Baskerville’s art has an almost cinematic “grade” to differentiate the times which works well especially with transitions within the story.
I like a graphical novel to work as a storyboard for a movie letting my imagination fill in the movement. This one works well. Chebaane has created a story that is compelling enough to keep you reading and thus would keep you watching on the screen.
The story explores familiar ideas and themes. The characters are believable and relatable even with a fantastical plot. Definitely worth a read.
Wow! I just finished reading 'The Panharmonion Chronicles - Times of London: Unraveling Secrets' and I'm still reeling from the excitement! This graphic novel is an absolute rollercoaster of action and mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. From the very first page, I was drawn into a world where secrets lurk around every corner and danger waits at every turn. The artwork is incredibly detailed and really brings the story to life, making it feel like I'm right there alongside the characters as they uncover the truth. Speaking of characters, they're so cool! Each one has their own unique personality and skills, and I couldn't help but root for them as they faced increasingly intense challenges. And the plot twists? Let me tell you, I did not see them coming! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the story took a sharp turn and left me eagerly flipping through the pages to see what would happen next. Overall, 'The Panharmonion Chronicles - Times of London: Unraveling Secrets' is a must-read for anyone who loves action-packed adventures with a healthy dose of mystery thrown in. Trust me, you won't be able to put it down!
There are some books that are written to be read from page to page, where one is immersed within the imaginings of the author ... THEN AGAIN ... there are those rarest of authors whose imaginings of plot & juxtapositions of characters, bridge the paradoxes between ... Fiction & Reality ... !!!
Indeed this is, arguably much - much more than a fantastically illustrated comic book ... ERGO ... there be layers of imbedded ... Reality Challenging Questions ... IE: ... Hello Quantum Entanglements ... where, the paradigms of multi-universes are inspirationally wrapped around ones imagination ... !!!
Just Saying ... WELL DONE ... A WELL DESERVED 5 + STAR REVIEW ... :-) ... !!!
On our way to festival.. I doubt my friend who just discover this will give that book back to me if I won't let him finish it :) Funny the similarity of the Litomerice town scenery with the story ! Might be in another reality :))
This graphic novel is a great read! The story is epic, the characters are relatable, and the artwork binds everything beautifully. Whilst reading, I got the vibes of Sherlock Holmes with adventure from something like Doctor Who! The artwork from Baskerville is nothing short of excellent. Each moment in this book is a page turner that never has a dull moment. Cannot wait to see more from this series!!!! 10/10
Amazing storyline and artwork, really hits home as a part of the book takes it's stage in my current home city, London. Furthermore, you can actually visit a number of settings in the book, for all cocktail lovers, Hokus Pokus in the Megaro Hotel in St. Pancras is a must visit, it is as if you are stepping in the story!
Hats off to the Author and creator, Henry Chebaane, definitely looking out to the next volumes!!!
Loved reading, in a row, this compelling book written by the talented Henry Chebaane ! A trip in space and time that is constantly trying to hold on to what matters the most, what defines us and where do we come from. Besides the very pleasant reading experience it provides, it is a deep analysis of the different layers of society, what is seen and what is hidden and what determins one's journey until death. Unless something else happens...
The combination of both science fiction, fantasy and thriller was a very exciting read and kept me entertained! I loved the visuals and the story line was very interesting. I highly recommend checking this book out!
Review for 'The Panharmonion Chronicles Times Of London' by Henry Chebaane and Stephen Baskerville
This is the first graphic novel that I have actually ever read as an adult let alone review!! It is a new genre for me but after seeing the gorgeous cover I just had to give it a go! I also got it for my eldest son who is 13 years old and loves manga and comics. I would say it is suitable for adults and older children from 13 years plus due to the graphic content. I am unsure if this is actually available in kindle but if you are going to get a copy I would HIGHLY recommend you get the physical copy. Not only are the images stunning, bright and eye catching but the book itself is extremely good quality and would make a brilliant addition to any book shelf. This is the first book in Henry's 'The Panharmonion Chronicles' and what an explosive start to a series it is! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series so I hope Henry is busy writing it as I type this!! The storyline is ram packed with action, danger, adventure, violence, drama, crime, intolerance, science fiction, identity, twists and turns, mystery, history, suspense, alternate worlds, time travel, misogyny and so much more!! It really does have something for everyone. My son had to wait for me to finish it before reading it and he was looking forward to it especially seeing me enjoying it so much!! He absolutely loved it to and is looking forward to reading the next book in this series too! I absolutely LOVE the fact that our main protagonist Alex Campbell who really is a kick butt female. I love seeing strong females in books and Alex really is a fantastic female lead and I am looking forward to meeting her again. We have Stephen Baskerville to thank for the stunning artwork in this book and it truly is gorgeous, cinematic and extremely well detailed, just stunning!! Along with Alex there are several other characters many of which are just downright creepy but make this graphic novel what it is!! I am not going to say anymore about this beauty apart from get your copy NOW!!
A stunning graphic novel with epic artwork filled with every genre you could ask for!! An absolute must read for all older children and adults alike!!
Clear your schedules and get lost in the cinematic graphic crime novel that is 'The Panharmonion Chronicles Times Of London' and you can thank me later!!
Overall an absolutely stunning, cinematic graphic crime novel that will suck you in!
This was new and exciting. OK, I read Donald Duck & Co. in Norwegian as a child. Still, it has been a while, so sort of new territory.
With curiosity, I opened the plastic and carefully tilted the book out. OK. This seems cool. Let's do this.
We have the worst of starts, not for me, though I am intrigued. This is what heroes are made of.
🔹️ "It's not doping! We're just elevating the human potential." 🔹️
I found myself interested. I like the storyline. I enjoyed how this story is written. We even get glimpses back in time to another London. There are unexplainable things going on and old family secrets. The bad guys are closing in. There is a suspense, still, I feel that our Main Character, Alex, can take care of herself. Still, this might be a whole other ballgame.
Even though I am not used to reading bubbles, l I got into it quickly, and all in all, I had a great time.
Thank you LBT for having me on this book review tour and for my gifted copy of this epub.
I first have to say I loved this cover of this book I mean the detail is so good and I just love it so much. The cover drew me to read this book !!!
I loved this book!! I’m so excited to see where this book goes in this series !!
I loved the dual timelines. I thought really made the book sometimes it makes nervous because I feel confused but I didn’t with this book. It just flowed so well. I loved the combination of science and history. Never thought I would like this combination but dang did I ever !!
I loved all the action and I haven’t really ever read a graphic novel before. But I loved it. The art work and everything was just phenomenal!!!
Overall this was a quick easy read and I can’t wait to read more !! Definitely check out this read. This is book I will be buying just for the stunning art work.
I must say, it's been quite some time since I last read a graphic novel, probably the last time was when I was a teenager. But it was an absolute joy to get back into it by reading one of such high quality.
Set in contemporary London but also delving into Victorian London also, it's part 1 in the Panharmonion Chronicles and if you're into Sci-fi and time travel with a great cast of diverse characters and cultures, this is thr book for you.
The illustrations are absolutely superb, just so detailed and vivid and the book itself it really nice looking, majestic and feels good in the hand.
4.5 stars rounded up. This was a fantastic read! If you enjoy stories that dabble in the nature of time and reality while also tackling serious and timely issues such as race, identity, power struggles, etc., definitely check this out. The story-telling, world building, and spectacular illustrations are so beautiful. The colors are so vibrant! I personally was particularly drawn to the incorporation of music and sound into the story.
This first installment is an action-packed adventure across time and I cannot wait to see what happens in volume two!
💜 Thank you so much to Henry Chebaane, Supanova Media, and Love Books Tours for the gifted review copy! All thoughts expressed are my own.
Thank you to the author and @lovebookstours for my gifted copy of this graphic novel.
I haven't reviewed a graphic novel previously and haven't read one in years but as soon as I saw the blurb for this one I knew I wanted to give it a go. I was blown away with the stylish and punchy artwork, it's vibrant and bursting with life as it exudes energy on each page to match the fast paced adventure. I couldn't put it down and read through it in one session. I loved the diversity of characters, locations and timelines which were easy to follow. The tension mounts as the story progresses and you end up willing the FMC Alex to uncover her past, which holds buried family secrets and her supernatural powers. I enjoyed the caring relationship between Alex and her cousin Ravi and the support he lent to her. I loved the blend of science, history and technology and seeing how it all integrated into the story. The separate timelines was easy to follow and lent an air of mystery to what exactly the shadowy secret organisation is up to. I need more now that I've started!
Alex is an orphan and sole survivor of the tragic events which led to her family being killed. She finds herself inheriting a property in London which holds secrets in the basement. A shadowy organisation is pressuring her to sell, for motives unknown to her, and they won't stop at anything to get their hands on the building. Strange occurrences start to happen and Alex begins to realise she has powers that have been repressed. Meanwhile the nefarious organisation is working on a secret project which links across timelines and locations over the world. Alex is drawn into this world when they stumble upon a secret location with links to her past.
This was my first ever graphic novel reading and I freaking loved it. I felt like a grow up kid🤭
Let's start with the quality the whole novel is of an exceptional quality from the paper to the absolutely stunning graphics. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole plot. I think the pacing was quite fast thanks to the the dual timeline and multiple "Londons" 🇬🇧 and 🇨🇦 and other destinations
The struggles of our main FMC Alex are well portrayed both through the language and the illustrations. I'm hoping there is more to come from her and her squad.
This gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.
If your a graphic novel fan of horror, Sci-Fi thrillers this one is for you
This isn't a book, it's art! The graphics are awesome and the story is great fun to read along with the graphics adding to your imagination.
The story is about a musician called Alex. She finds a hidden tunnel under the building she's renovating into flats. She goes exploring and finds a mysterious gold orb. After the find she starts to experience weird things and situations.
won't say anymore because itll give away the plot, but you should definitely read this. It was fast paced and definitely a page turner. If you like graphic books/comics with dark themes this is definitely one for you!
Just wow ! The book came packaged so incredibly well, I was nervous to take it out of the wrapping. The cover was what drew me to the book in the first place. The book was gorgeous. The colors on each page were so vivid. The world created in this story was really unique and amazing. I haven’t read a book quite like it. It’s honestly one of a kind. It’s pretty amazing that you can illustrate the way the story was being told.
I liked the lines To see a world in a gram of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour.
While, ultimately, Times of London, The Panharmonion Chronicles, Vol. 1 ended up not really being my thing, just like any book will not be for everyone, I will say that, from the first page to the last, I was impressed by the world-building and storyline created by Henry Chebaane as well as the illustrations by Stephen Baskerville. The creativity was amazing, and they are both very talented artists. The cliffhanger at the end seems like it will be a great continuation in Volume 2!
I couldn’t believe how stunning this graphic novel is until I held the physical copy in my hands. Every page, starting from the front cover is stunning. The illustrations throughout the book are amazing, even the chapter headings.
I very quickly got invested in the plot. There is a lot of action from the beginning and I ended up reading so much in one go. Alex is an incredible protagonist. She’s so strong and tenacious. I was backing her corner the whole time I was reading.
As well as being action fuelled, the storyline is also interesting. The timeline flits back and forth throughout and the story is set primarily in London and Canada. I really loved the way there were subtle differences in the illustrations between the different time periods. It really helped me stay on track of what was happening.
It’s a fantastic first book in the chronicles. I’m desperate to find out what will happen with Alex next.
