Lost in a mysterious darkness, a man seeks answers. In the end, he will discover that the blackest darkness resides in the human soul...
Of all the journeys conjured by the writer, of all the lonesome paths walked by heroes and villains alike, the journey into the human soul is by far the darkest. No imagination of men could ever match the true depravity of the human soul. No external tale of gloom and horror, however well-constructed, could possibly match the darkness of the blackest corners of the human heart. However well groomed a man’s exterior, however authentic and winsome is his smile, the soul of even the best human being is the dark truth that lies behind a paper-thin veneer.
This is a tale of two people, caught in a post-apocalyptic horror of perpetual night. A blackness that matches the darkness of the human soul. Based on Lord Byron's "Darkness."
Damon Rambo grew up with an atheist father who detested Christianity. Damon shared his father's views for years, and spent many of his days sitting in front of a television watching NOVA on PBS, or reading science books, magazines and articles.
In his early twenties, though, Christ got a hold of him. Damon renounced his pagan ways, and gave himself whole-heartedly to the Lord.
Presently, Damon resides in Markham Texas, with his wife and two youngest children. There he pastors a small church, and conducts a wedding video and photography business (http://www.cinematicminutes.com ). In his spare time, he likes to relax under a pecan tree, and watch his kids play.
This book had a very good plot. It was exciting and well paced. I could have definitely done without the cheesey intro and conclusion that boldly gave away to the reader the whole point/theme/idea for writing this story. The author has a more than obvious religious agenda. I don't necessarily mind the themes of Christianity in this book but it could have been done a lot better using more symbolism and various subtleties rather than explaining everything in the beggining and end. Great writers allow the reader to seek a deeper meaning behind their words. All in all a likeable easy read with great illustrations.
I won a copy of this book as a giveaway on Goodreads :)
Parts of this books were really well written and I loved the dog Sparky.
I'm sure there are many many people who would love this book but unfortunately it wasn't exactly my kind of book. It's only a short book so it's worth giving it a try to see if you like it.
The copy I received didn't actually have the same cover or title on it sadly.
I found this book to be okay but it did hold my interest because I wanted to know what was up with the man, but if I had read a spoiler of what was happening I think I would not have picked this book up.
I received this book as part of a giveaway through Goodreads. Although I would never normally read this genre I did enjoy this book and would have loved it to have been longer. Extremely well written and an interesting concept.
