A Voice to Love is the first book in a series of stand alone books that revolve around the band Fallen Tuesday. In A Voice to Love we follow the story of lead singer Luke Nolan. Luke is living a lie and a nightmare. Luke's band mates are his best friends and he'll do anything for them....even risk losing his own career to save theirs. So when a singers worst nightmare begins to happen to Luke he keeps it a secret from the band. Fallen Tuesday has just made it big and without finishing their current tour and hitting the studio right after that and touring again they could lose their momentum and Luke knows there are a hundred bands out there ready to take their place. So he risks his health to continue on a tour that his doctor says he should quit. Meanwhile there is Amy, who is the head chef for Tommy Two's. Her talent in delighting the palate brings in lots of business for Tommy Two's restaurant, which is owned by her uncle Tom. But deep down Amy isn't happy. She wants a place of her own to run. But that dream will have to wait because not only does Amy want to keep helping her Uncle but she's also up s*^t creek with some very dangerous people. Amy's life is in danger but she doesn't want to involve anyone else because that would put them in danger. That includes telling her uncle, who has indirectly put Amy in this impossible position. Luke and Amy meet when Amy literally runs into Luke outside of the hotel he and the band are staying in. It's late and she's walking home because her car was broken into. She's also terrified because she's pretty sure she's being followed by the one man who's out to get her. Although their meeting is short Luke can't stop thinking about Amy and Amy can't stop thinking about Luke. The next time Amy sees Luke is at a Fallen Tuesday's concert that Luke sent Amy a ticket for and a car to pick her up. After the show he plans to bring the band and friends to Tommy Two's so he can spend time with Amy. Things move forward from there. Both Amy and Luke begin to learn more about each other even though Luke has to leave to continue the tour. They keep in touch every night and make plans to see each other soon. While separated both characters face their demons alone. Ms. James builds on each character throughout the book, including the secondary characters. The suspense also builds and slowly we begin to find out what secrets Amy and Luke are hiding. The various storylines blend together nicely and the characters are well defined. I really enjoyed reading this book and will be reading the next book in the series very soon.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Luke is finally realizing his dream. Success, Fame, An Album, Headlining!!! Everything is great but suddenly a bandmate notices Luke sneaking off, coughing up blood, his voice seems off. He starts watching him, is it drugs?! He finally gathers the band members and confronts him, Luke feels so bad, he doesn't want to mess up their dreams, but once they know, that could be it for Fallen Tuesday. Their Manager will be upset, the Record Label, his bandmates no one will be happy with him.
Amy is a chef at her uncle's restaurant. She broke up with a low-life but now he is stalking and threatening her. She is scared for her life, Denny has something on her, something she doesn't want her uncle or anyone else to find out. Her car just got broken into so she has to walk home in the middle of the night. Every noise startles her, she swears Denny is following her on his bike and ends up feeling safer in a dark alley... She hears him again and takes off running, right into Luke!
They have an instant connection. Luke feels the urge to protect Amy. He gets his driver to take her home and the next day drops off a ticket with his number to have her call him. They both know he won't be more than a one night stand, but that doesn't stop them from spending time together. Their connection grows and they stay in contact, still keeping secrets from each other.
Will either of their secrets come out? Will the band find a replacement for Luke? Will Denny tell Amy's uncle what she has been keeping from him? Will they tell each other and if so what is going to happen? Will that be the end to their relationship?
I liked that there are hot and steamy scenes but not too many. Amy and Luke were able to build up their relationship instead of just jumping into bed and voila! happy ending.
A strong story, pretty well-defined characters (okay Trent and Jake remain somewhat pale, but it´s only book no.1)- the odd thing about it is that the author manages to build up tension in a number of scenes but seems to shy away from the climax (not necessarily meant in a sexual way, but there, too). And the proofreaders seem to have overlooked a couple of pages- it´s a pity, because the storyline is really good. It´s probably unfair to compare- but I was so strongly reminded of Taryn Elliott´s and Cari Quinn´s book series "Lost in Oblivion" ( in the first book the chef of a catering firm falls in love with the band´s bassist, though, and the singer losing his voice is book 3) I couldn´t stop comparing. And although the plot is really interesting and creates a number of intense cinematic scenes I sort of had to tap into the emotions similar scenes had evoked in me I read in the aforementioned series. Great story, but the style of writing/ word choice/ phrasing sometimes doesn´t quite manage to make me feel like other books do. I still bought the whole series because she just has interesting stories to tell. I just wish she could deliver them more vividly. AND I don´t EVER want to read the word "rock star" in a book again...
Wow, a rocker romance that slow builds the romance and the sex! What a wonderful idea. It's a nice change that Luke & Amy take their time to get to know each other before immediately falling into bed. The whole premise of Amy borrowing the money from the skanky ex-boyfriend and that he is now stalking her is kind of weird. It seems that if she had just talked to her Uncle, that whole situation could have been avoided. But then we would not have had the circumstances that led to Luke meeting Amy. I liked the interplay with the other band members. I look forward to the rest of the books in the series. Be warned, there are many grammatical errors in this book. I really wish authors would not publish a book with so many errors. There are plenty of us readers willing to review the book and find the errors for them. I reported 23 errors to Amazon. That's a lot in a short book.

Amy has borrowed money from her boyfriend at the time to bail out her uncle's restaurant. The ex is a creep and is threatening her to get the money back. She is so freaked out and bumps into a man. Luke is a rock star who is having problems with his voice. He falls for Amy right away. He wants her and he wants his voice back. He will go to any lengths to get what he wants and needs.
This author just keeps getting better with her storylines and character development. Can't wait to readers more in this series. Fallen Tuesday lead singer Luke's run in with strong, yet frightened Amy brings out a protective side of the rocker.
This continuation of Brothers of Rock was much slower than the stories of Chasing Cross. While I loved Luke for his tender heart, his and Amy's issues in their lives became redundant and drawn out. Still, cute story.
4.5 stars - I am always a a sucker for these rock star romances when they fall for the unknown girl. Loved Luke and Amy in this and will continue on with the series.
Not bad at all, but would benefit from a proofreader. There are words missing and "he" when the word should be "she." Annoying, but not enough to prevent me from reading more of the series.
