Evil in the Five Kingdoms has struck a devastating blow.
A tide of evil rolls northward as a monstrous army moves across the land like a wicked plague, forcing the young wizard Zollin to race back to the frozen highlands in hopes of recruiting the magical races of dwarves, dragons, and giants to help fight the dark sorceress Gwendolyn’s horde. Brianna and what remains of her pride of dragons, returns to Yelsia to convince King Felix to take a stand with Zollin’s magical army, but not everyone sees the devastation of the other kingdoms as a threat. Farther south, Quinn and Mansel battle for survival against wicked creatures bent on sweeping them away. The Five Kingdoms stand poised on the cusp of darkness, and through it all Zollin and his friends must find a way to turn the tide of evil as the future of the Five Kingdoms hangs in the balance.
Brianna, the Fire Spirit has taken her dragons to warn King Felix of the war that is about to begin and ask for his help. In doing so she finds herself being manipulated and used by the King. Zollin, the Wizard of the Five Kingdoms has taken his dragon to ask other magical people to help and to find his father. As King Felix's treachery is revealed Zollin also finds that someone in the King's army is just as treacherous. Brianna and Zollin battle for their lives and those of the of the people and dragons they love as well as the well being of all the inhabitants of the Five Kingdoms. But, there is a price to pay for each and it is not a good one.
I liked this volume much better than the last. The last one just seemed to go on and on with no real movement. Evil Tide was a fast read with lots of movement and excitement.
I enjoyed the first seven books of the Five Kingdoms series. My review is in the first of the books. But elements were introduced as the series progressed that made me decide not to continue after seven.
I admire Neighbors' writing skills and his imagination. For readers who don't share my objections, you may find him to be one if the best authors you read. Characters like Zollin are what place a book in my favorites list. But, Zollin's morality was not typical of the characters in the story, even the 'good' ones.

Some of the parts the author writes in this book made me just want to stop reading. It just goes to far into the unbelievable. I love this series and enjoy all the charaters. But making them do and go in ways they shouldn't is just ceazy. All in all great read as a series.
This story keeps getting better. There are some very bad people that Zollin just can't figure out how to conquer which leaves the Five Kingdoms in a very dangerous position. I took longer to read this book because I took a break to start reading another of this author's books. It was great too! I am off to read the next book in this series.
A lot better development if characters, a little more complex like life is...better than previous installments of the series. But the story is still a little more pre teen than I would have liked it and needs a little editing and proof reading.
The story this time is decent. However, one character revert to being a naive damsel in distress. It made what she have gained meaningless. Aside from that, the book is worth reading.
Really enjoyed this story. Can't wait to see the next installment. All the dragons and characters were really, really good! The next book should be very good.
