Charles Soule is a #1 New York Times-bestselling novelist, comics author, screenwriter, musician, and lapsed attorney. He has written some of the most prominent stories of the last decade for Marvel, DC and Lucasfilm in addition to his own work, such as his comics Curse Words, Letter 44 and Undiscovered Country, and his original novels Light of the Jedi, The Endless Vessel, The Oracle Year and Anyone. He lives in New York.
Surprisingly decent team-up book from Charles Soule and Tony Daniel. Power couple Superman and Wonder Woman investigate an unusual storm in the Atlantic leading to the reveal of a powerful old enemy of Superman's. A promisingly strong start! Read the full review here!
Ugh where has this been all my life? Beautiful art, seriously breathtaking. I love Superman and Wonder woman together, always have always will so I love this so much. Tempted to go back to the comic book store and get caught up tomorrow.
What a beautiful relationship. I don’t know if it’s meant to last, but so much of me wanted it to. Clark and Diana don’t just complete each other, they unite as two complete beings that represent a goodness this world desperately needs. This book is also what made me a Wonder Woman fan, so I thank it for that. She’s currently my second-favorite DC Comics hero, and my favorite reimagination in all of the New 52.
When they first announced that Superman and Wonder Woman would become a couple in Justice League, I was surprised. Surprised because it came out of nowhere. It seemed more like a publicity stunt than anything else. There was no build up to it. No spark or tension. In Justice League, they were too busy fighting each other or fighting Darksied to have time for relationships with each other.
And then they announced a new ongoing series for Superman and Wonder Woman, to explore the relationship between the two characters and have some fun team up stories along the way. And since the solo Wonder Woman series is as good as it is, I thought I'd give another title with her in a shot.
It's a promising first issue. I've never been much of a fan of Tony Daniel, but here he does some majestic flying shots which look pretty, along with some exciting fight scenes. Nothing overly amazing, but it's nice to look at.
But from this series, I need Charles Soule to make me believe why these two are together. If each story is going to be dates getting interrupted by a villain, it's going to get boring. But at the same time, there does need to be action. I'll stick around for a while and give this title a shot.
3.5 Was intrigued when I saw a review of this at ALL ABOUT ROMANCE. The Man of Steel and the Warrior Princess have begun a romantic relationship (before the start of this volume), but have troubles due to their different backgrounds: Diana having been raised all along aware of her heritage and difference from humankind; Clark having been raised by, and as, a human for most of his young life. Clark keeps his super identity hidden, while Diana (quite differently from my memories of the 1970s TV show) is open about hers, a difference that also contributes to their relationship problems. At one point, Clark asks if they are worse at their jobs because of their relationship, to which Diana says, no, they're stronger together. The defeat of the bad guys in this volume surely proves Diana's assertion; will it always be true, though? Inquiring minds want to know...
4.0 Is this the first good Wonder Woman comic of the New 52? At least, this is the real Wonder Woman - the stern but loving adventurer I'd love to see from her own title. Soule is one of the best writers in comics today, and Daniel one of DC's most dynamic artists, but this isn't all in your face action - they both deliver on domestic scenes, too. However, the action we do get at the finale is some of the most exciting I've seen in New 52 yet!
I love Charles Soule as a writer and this new series doesn't disappoint. Not a fan of the two superheroes as a couple but the issue does justice to what could be a very awesome matching. Promised to be some awesome super villains in future, and it feels fairly faithful to both characters. Wonder Woman comes off slightly butch but it's not bad enough to bother me. Overall a solid 4/5.
This one is for all Superman and wonder woman's fans anyone who ever thought of seeing this couple together since the very beginning and looking forward to this series.
If you mixed awesome superheroes with a romance novel (skipping over all those embarrassing sex parts), this is what you get. For me, a super fun read.
This may be the one where Wonder Woman says something about not being as strong as Superman - yeah I put it down right then and said forget you and your lies.
