Although it was a couple days after October that I read this book, it was meant to celebrate Blindness awareness month in October. Being blind myself, I don’t like to read blind stories where they boast themself. Most memoirs of blind people is too staged for my liking. However, this book hit all the greatness! He had some real life feelings in his experiences. He hit the nail on the head when he spokes from his experiences with dealing with organizations that are meant to help the blind but in actuality, they hinder them. This book is definitely going on my repeat whenever I need it! And it’s an awesome gift for all those doomsayers and all of those skeptic out there of what the blind community can accomplish.
I met Dave the summer he earned his merit badge in Archery at Resica Falls Scout Reservation. We shared a tent, and I learned to see many things differently, because of Dave's courage to always take a step forward. I enjoyed hearing the rest of the story of his struggle to be a doctor and the remarkable support he gave to others around him. I recommend this book to all that seek a goal, and want to see real leadership.
