Nothing new from CBT and MBCT, too shallow, more like an introduction.

I found this book useful and informative, especially about the nature of anxiety (and similar phenomena like stress), its meaning and symptoms. It describes lots of exercises and practical approaches one can take advantage of, as well as skills that one should patiently learn and develope. However, the book didn't give me the motivation to do all of that, it was for me just a cold and formal acquisition of information and techniques -very valid, interesting and based on hard work and on-the-field observations, but still lacking of those motivational and somehow revealing features that, in my opinion, should be a must for psychology books. Since it is a workbook, it could be kind of "justified" for the absence of these characteristics. Moreover, I found it repetitive regarding some concepts, that one can find written over and over again across each chapter. Recommended if one wants to acquire some knowledge about DBT and mindfulness skills, to learn how to deal with modern mental illnesses of different degree of severity. But probably there is something better out there; I accept indications about this.

The pictures and charts are hard to see on the kindle but I found the book really helpful. And so did a lot of my friends, as I posted a lot from it onto FaceBook.

I have mixed feelings about this workbook. Overall, I do recommend it. It has helpful techniques. The caveat is that some of the advice is triggering, has potential to be harmful, and the chapters aren't balanced. Each chapter takes a dive into a topic, for example one will be on worry, another on obsession, then social anxeity, etc... The chapters have a structured pattern of the first portion evaluating how much that topic impacts you, then techniques for how to work through it. The last page of the chapter has a diagram that shows problem and solution, like a quick guide on how to work through it. The problem comes when you start a chapter. Since it isn't balanced, the first half of each chapter is a lot at once. Some chapters don't guide you with techniques until later chapters. If it had more of a balance of, if you struggle with X then try Y, and here is an exercise for it. Instead its like it goes through the entire alphabet before telling you how to address the struggles. That mixed with some misleading or outdated information is frustrating. Another negative aspect of it is that it doesn't dive deep into any of the topics and it is outdated in other areas. With all that said, it is worth working through because some of the advice is solid, plenty of techniques for being mindful, and it gives every day practices you can use to reduce your anxeity. I recommend it, but proceed with caution, do not take it as a source of truth, or expect a deep dive.

I'm a psychologist and I have a few clients who were having difficulty applying DBT to their anxiety based disorders. I think this workbook would be a great addition to work with a therapist or as a stand alone text outside of therapy.

десь на 3,5/5 буде.
дуже базова книга по різних станах, повʼязаних з тривогою. шось типу "простими словами", тільки тут ще хороші вправи – власне, вони і складають основну цінність) для фахівців – дуже сумнівно, хіба початківців

This book is great as an intro into managing anxiety. If you’re new to this realm or needing a refresher of the basics, this is perfect. If you’re looking for depth, this might not be the best book for you.

Like the other workbooks, this offers useful homework assignments for clients and talking pieces for therapy sessions.

The book seems fine but I don't think this type of therapy is for me. I don't find that it adds much to acceptance and commitment therapy.

Very basic and superficial coping strategies. Perhaps useful to those with very disorganized personalities struggling with severe anxiety.

Чудовий посібник з самодопомоги!
Інформація подана структуровано, вправи чітко пояснені. Рекомендую!

I thought this book was a fantastic use in counseling. Really enjoyed the explanation of DBT and how to utilize it with clients. Had great worksheet to help the clients understand what we were doing and why.

I found it dumb. They over-explain everything, the solutions are over-simplified. Boring. The same book condensed in 30 pages would have been better. I've read other DBT books which are more stimulating.

This was a great workbook! All of the concepts are laid out in a clean and concise manner so any layman would be able to follow along. The exercises are not too daunting but also not too simple. They make you think and put effort into it. I will definitely be keeping my copy of this workbook for future reference. I would also definitely recommend this workbook to anyone with any sort of severe anxiety issues (it covers all from social, OCD, PTSD, BPD, etc). Just a great book!
