A collection of inspirational quotes for dads, from some of the greatest coaches in sports history.Dads do what the best coaches They motivate, mentor, discipline, and love. This playbook collects more than one hundred moving quotes form the greatest coaches of all time. Author Tom Limbert then takes their wisdom and applies it to the game of fatherhood. With a foreword by Hall of Fame Quarterback Steve Young and quotes from John Madden, Vince Lombardi, Tommy Lasorda, Phil Jackson, and many more legends, dads will find a wealth of inspiration in these pages.
A lazy book. This is a book about coaching that reaches hard to make small, lazy metaphors to parenting. Many things could have been done with this book, such as going in depth analyzing the quotes but the author wrote a total of 8 pages with basic unoriginal parenting advice and then added a bunch of random quotes from successful coaches. Would not recommend.
The hardcopy is well presented, has a great mix of quotes and pictures. If you love playing and watching sports, and hope that your child does the same, this is a great book for showing how the role of coach is a lot like the role of a father. It also shows that many life lessons can be learned within the context of sports - perhaps sports serve more of a purpose in life that many would lead you to believe. As I’ve just stepped into fatherhood, I will likely come back to this book occasionally as I raise my son.
Does this book tell you everything about being a good dad? No, of course it doesn’t. However, I found that the principles discussed at the beginning of each section are pretty profound even if they sound like common sense. As my son was born a week and a half ago, I have tried to ponder on this little book and how I might apply it’s principles. Definitely a good quick read for a first time dad. And I would say a good refresher course for dads of many years or many times over.
This book takes an interesting approach where they take famous and important quotes from coaches across many professional and collegiate leagues to give advice to fathers. The author breaks up the quotes into categories of leadership, belief, love, respect, learning and joy. As an athlete and coach myself, I loved seeing the connection of these quotes to being useful towards your new team as a family with a child now.
I think this book is perfect for the sports-minded Father who wants some great motivational quotes from some of their favorite coaches. Not a ton of parenting advice but a nice, easy and fun read
