Sidney S. Prasad currently resides in Metropolitan Vancouver, and is obsessed with making people laugh. In between chasing women, pissing off people, and avoiding authority figures, he writes entertaining books about his disaster dates and the dysfunctional world that some people live in.
Sidney S. Prasad has published several novels, including Plenty of Freaks-Are You Sold on Online Dating?, How To Irritate A Telemarketer and Don’t Ask Dumb Questions!.
I found this book like a breath of fresh air in the world of self-help. No beating around the bush, no sugarcoating, just straightforward advice that hits you like a stark reality check. The author has a level-headed attitude that is oddly refreshing. It's like having that brutally honest friend who tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. The book says it all: don't ask dumb questions, and they mean it. What it really taught me is that it's about pushing you to think, to challenge yourself and ask a lot of questions. There's humor, too, which makes it less of a lecture and more of a talk with someone who's been there and done that. I appreciate that it's not just about giving answers but about waking up your brain. It's like you're being handed a toolbox for critical thinking. Overall, this book is like a reality check mixed with a good dose of tough love. If you're tired of cliche self-help and want something to get you going, this is it. It's short, punchy and could change the way you approach things, at least, that was the case for me.
I was pretty intrigued by this book, and I wondered what it said. It lists over 1000 questions that some people would deem dumb. There is no use for this list other than a good punchline for a joke. I hoped the author would write in comments about the questions that seem "dumb." If the book aims to annoy the reader, it does its job. I should have known what it was for by the looks of it, and the title said it. I mean, I guess it makes you think when you see a question in your mind that is on the list that it seems dumb. I'd like to know how he could compile over 1000 questions. That's the mystery. And also I was constantly saying “What?!” in my head as I read these questions.
Don’t Ask Dumb Questions by Sidney Prasad sounds like a fun idea – a collection of the dumbest questions ever asked online. In practice, however, all the book is literally just a list of one-liner questions with no context. In the very brief introduction, the author tells us the questions were collected from Yahoo. Sure, the questions are suitably dumb to make you snigger a few times, but to be really entertaining past the first page or so, I’d need more input from the author and contextualization. The hilarity of stupid questions doesn’t last long without a skilled author’s commentary, and that is missing in this book. It's a three out of five stars for me.
Sidney S. Prasad is an author determined to make people laugh. Don't Ask Dumb Questions! is a book that falls in that category, highlighting the dumbest questions ever made. It has over one thousand ridiculous questions, that made me laugh more than once, like "Are lubricants made in Greece" or "Can a racist be color blind".
Overall, a funny book to read once in a while. It can get very repetitive, the book is filled with these types of questions, so I recommend reading a chapter when you're feeling down and need a laugh, and then continuing another cloudy day.
Not the best comedy book I've read, but not the worst one either!
"Don't Ask Dumb Questions!" by Sidney S. Prasad is like a dose of caffeine for the mind. What a refreshing book! Prasad gives you a friendly and direct slap on how to ask intelligent questions. Personally, I think it's a lifesaver in a sea of mediocre conversations. The way it addresses the importance of questioning everything is great. The best part is that there are no detours! It seems to me that Prasad takes you by the hand and tells you in no uncertain terms how to improve your question-asking skills. I recommend this book to everyone, especially those who think they already know how to ask well. It is time to wake up!
This short read is entertaining and meant for anyone who wants to burst out laughing while understanding at some point in their lives, they have probably asked some of those questions. Prasad has wittily crafted a humorous book written in a friendly way. Each of the 1000 questions comes one after the other and, without even noticing, I read like 200 hundred in one night! This type of book is ideal for reading at night before going to bed, since one goes to sleep with a smile on the face. It does not demand a lot of concentration; there is no plot or twisted characters to follow through here.
This is a hilarious collection of 1000 dumb and really out there questions . Instead of believing that no question is a dumb question, or the only question that is dumb is the one that you didn't ask, the author has generously provided us with a wide variety of questions that we can use whenever we want. Some gems in here include: Don't you hate it when you are eating in a nice restaurant and a mouse runs out of the kitchen? Don’t you hate it when your car gets repossessed and you forget to take the Christmas Gifts out of the trunk? Do blanket stores have undercover security? Can morbidly over people go skinny dipping?
How fast does a Hippo run? Do Hippos have ears? To some these would be silly questions, however, after I read a book about questions, these aren’t silly anymore! Don’t ask Dumb Questions written by Sidney Prased is a perfect book for people like me. I love asking questions. Reading the first few pages, I know that now my questions aren’t that silly. Some may think they have silly questions too, but when they read this book, they may feel different. For instance, “Can a vegetarian catch Chicken Pox”? No question is silly or dumb. Enjoy the fun questions like I did!
"Don't Ask Dumb Questions!" written by Sidney S. Prasad is a hilarious and upbeat book that has gathered more than 1000 ridiculous questions. Everything is so serious lately in society that when my friend got me this book for my birthday, I had already a smile on my face, and I believe that is truly the point of Prasad's book, to make someone laugh! Some of these questions blow me away. I can't understand how silly people can be and it makes me question their intellect, but honestly, a book hasn't made me laugh so much in a while! I recommend it if you are ready to have a great time!
If looking for a humorous book mixed with irony, this maybe it. It features questions that people often ask on a daily basis, most of them are rhetorical questions that help make the point of the author about common sense. It is a very light read to be entertaining for a bit or to read it with family and friends. We made a little game using the book, so we had a great time and all the fam was investing in seeing how many of them they usually ask. To sum up, a very witty humor from the author showcasing the questions we do or receive. A good laugh!
I gave the book four stars because it is exactly what it claims to be. Chapters and chapters of ironic, dumb, or silly questions. I would have loved it to have some more substance than it did. Perhaps some stories on why there is a whole chapter of r.v. questions.
