He Came Looking for Me: A Horse's True Story of Hope and Redemption.

The little girl reached her small hand through the rails of the fence I was tied to and touched my poor sunburned face. For just a moment I touched her back. As her fingers left my face she said to me, I hope you find a nice home. Her father didnt say it, but he knew that probably wasnt going to happen. The pair moved down the aisle of the auction barn away from me, our brief encounter already forgotten. Will this horse doomed for slaughter be ransomed? Author Lynn Baber helps Shiner, the lost son of a prize Appaloosa mare, share his true story of rescue in He Came Looking For Me. But Shiners story is more than just a simple tale of how two horses returned to their real home, it is the story of promise and victory for each one of us in a relationship with Jesus Christ. No matter how far away, how alone, how defeated you feel today, there is One who is searching for you and will redeem you just when you are most in need. Shiner came home. Discover how you can, too. From team building, to horsemanship, to Christian victory, Lynn Baber shares inspirational and practical messages in a style that runs the gamut from high-energy to porch swing casual. Join Lynn Baber for this inspirational tale of two wayward horses and find for yourself the peace and joy that come from finding a home in God.

I bought this book at Equine Affaire, which is a great place to find good horsey books. It was really interesting to compare working with horses to a religious journey. I found it inspirational and thought provoking, plus it gave me some good practical ideas for things to work on with my own horse. I’ve been trying really hard to appreciate every little thing about my relationship with my horse, so this book came at a perfect time for me. Enjoy reading it, and take your time to let each section soak in a little.

Good for the heart

It was a story that makes you look into your own heart and at animals from the soul and not the brain

“… an extraordinary book that should be a must read for animal lovers.”

A modern day Black Beauty.

What do the story of an unwanted horse and the promise of a mansion in heaven have in common? Shiner’s first-person account allows readers access to the emotions and despair of a horse bound for slaughter.

When circumstances seem hopeless there is a reason to have faith. Follow Shiner’s story as it leads to the truth of John 14:2, the promise of a mansion in heaven for each child of the King. Shiner came home - just in time. And so will you.
