When I get to the 39th book in a series, the series must be worth my time. While this series is far from great literature and can get bogged down in unimportant details, it has been fun and has thrown out some pretty good concepts to explore.

Star Force are the good guys, I found myself rooting for them, but then, in #37, Scruples, I discover Star Force forbids the ownership of pets. Gosh, what jerks! Who are they to dictate the private lives of individuals?

I brush it off and continue reading. In #38, Termination, I discover they mandate everyone be a vegetarian. Talk about tyranny, this is another excellent example.

I'm not thrilled with these petty tyrants, but I continue on to Unification. Here we discover the old adage about power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely is true for Star Force. Davis attacks and defeats the United States then China, annexing them by force of arms. He then proceeds to annex all other countries, except Australia to which he dictates how they must operate.

Aer-ki Jyr has no understanding of the concept of sovereignty. If he understood the concept, he could never have written, "waste the opportunity for growth that I'm giving you and I'll rescind your sovereignty." Sovereignty, by definition, cannot be rescinded.

This entire book shows the tyranny of Star Force in a way which the author hopes will have everyone continue to cheer for the tyrant. Sorry Aer-ki, but I never cheer for the tyrant who destroys individual liberty.
