Welcome to Bill Howard's 10 Minutes From Home: Episode 1 - 4. A post-apocalyptic love story, focusing on one man's journey through a world of the undead.

This is PART ONE, TWO, THREE, and FOUR of the eight part series. Each week a new episode will be released until the story reaches its dramatic conclusion in week 8.

Here's the synopsis:

Episode One

When a viral outbreak hits Toronto, Denny Collins and his best friend Thom Washington find themselves trapped over 100 km from Denny’s home in a town called Pontypool, where his wife and daughter remain. As the streets begin to teem with violence, they must first find safety, then find a way out of the now deadly metropolis.

Episode Two

Denny, Thom and Isabel have escaped the madness of the streets and found a way out of the city. A long trek through the sewers takes them away from the dangers of Toronto, but as they get onto rural roads, a quiet country house may not only hold supplies and shelter, but may hold some answers.

Episode Three

In the relative safety of a mall, Denny, Thom and Isabel take advantage of the situation and stock up on supplies. They meet John, a security guard, who tells them that there may be an even greater danger from the local uninfected visitors.

Episode Four

Seeing the imminent danger at the Bramford Apartments, Denny, Thom and Isabel return to the infested building to warn their newfound friends. But will they find a way to get everyone out of the high rise, which is teeming with legions of the infected?

I was pretty disappointed. It was like reading a diary. No dialogue where you could connect with the characters more.

This series is better than the covers portray ... so ... don't judge a book by its cover. These books have an appeal on a different level than the usual zombie reads ... hence I believe not only zombie junkies will like these books. I recommend them to non-horror readers and horror fans alike. I enjoyed the first half of the installments and look forward to going on to read the rest of the series.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. The writing was top notch and the editing was great. If you read this type of survival fare (like me), it doesn't take you long to realize that there are a lot of books out there in desperate need of editing. So, it is a joy to read one that has taken the time to at least run spellcheck...lol.

Strong characters and plenty of action make this one hard to put down. The love the main character feels for his family and his determination to reach them is vividly drawn and easy to relate to. I am looking forward to finishing this series.

I liked this book and want more. It is just the beginning of what should be a very good zombie story. I already care about the characters so I need to begin on the next batch. This is basically an introduction to the characters and the essence of the story. It is a good beginning to a zombie story.

March 29th 2017: I reread it and enjoyed again. On to the next volume.
