an unlikely group: Major Lyle Kaufman, retired warrior; Marbet Grant, the Sensitive who's involved with Kaufman; Amanda, a very confused fourteen-year-old; and Magdalena, one of the biggest power-brokers in all of human space--I only really enjoyed reading about Amanda. "An unlikely group" is misleading; Kaufman and Grant don't join forces with Magdalena until more than halfway through, and Amanda's story is (apparently) separate -- she's only connected to the others because she's out in search of her kidnapped physicist father, and their adventures are related to him too.
