A rebel princess falls for her bodyguard, an ex-marine, on her way across America to her girlfriend. What happens next is something you'll never believe!
After attending a concert, Princess Penelope Windsor falls for an American rock-star, Alexa. However, her plans to meet her in America are derailed when her mother, the queen, puts her under house arrest once she reaches the states, and a bodyguard is appointed to oversee her restricted movements.
Jessica Thompson is an American ex-marine, an Afghanistan and Iraq veteran, who is tasked by her seniors to protect Princess Penelope during her visit to America. Appalled at being reduced to a 'glorified babysitter', Jessica already resents the seven days she must spend with the entitled, immature, rebellious Princess Penelope. But when Princess Penelope tries to persuade Jessica to help her escape from her luxurious captivity, Jessica is incensed.
What follows is a road trip from Washington to Los Angeles. The princess and her bodyguard, along with their friends, are forced to share a car and endure hours of each other's company, full of resentment, banter, and plenty of steamy chemistry!
Penelope and Jessica begin the journey as enemies, but a lot changes by the time they reach LA... where Penelope's girlfriend is waiting for them!
Will the hardened, serious, and badass ex-marine succumb to the princess's charm? Will the princess find in Jessica the ally she needs to challenge the outdated doctrines of the monarchy? Or... will the two never find the courage to admit that a single road trip has changed their lives?
This new release from bestselling sapphic romance author A. Goswami is steamy, fun, and profound where it needs to be, along with a generous dose of romance that will undoubtedly touch your heart!
I am your friendly neighborhood Sapphic romance writer, who has a knack for writing steamy romances, that also work as comfort reads. I know, a conundrum! But once you give my books a shot, you'll know what I mean! I live in London, a few streets away from where Sherlock Holmes used to live, so... if I you find me taking too long to publish my next book, I am probably off with Mr. Holmes on an adventure.
An enemies to lovers novel, this book brings us a princess who feels caged, who is gay but told she can’t be for the sake of the monarchy, and against that, she’s being guarded by an ex-Marine with PTSD who hides behind her duties to avoid facing her fears and nightmares. The two start out like oil and vinegar, unable to mesh but by the end of their journey from Washington DC to Los Angeles, everything is different, except Jessica, the Marine, still can’t admit she loves Penelope (Penny), the princess.
Then unexpected events show Jessica just how strongly she feels about Penny.
This is a moving story with great characters a strong storyline and well written.
A. Goswami has managed to entertain me for a few hours with this tale. She has provided an almost realistic fantasy of travel from England with a bad girl princess to America during Pride, involve some espionage, family struggles, PTSD and really not in a contrived way! I am impressed with her skill of weaving her characters through the story and actually making me laugh, at times heating up the room and at other cooling it off. These are signs of a talented writer. I look forward to reading something else by her.
3.5 stars! I’m torn on my rating because I LOVE the story and the MCs and Goswami knows how to right a spicy scene! But there were a lot of inconsistencies as well as my biggest issue being Alexa’s storyline and how unnecessary it was past being a fling with Penelope, along with adding in Tyra and her friend. It wasn’t needed for the story and it kind of created confusion. The Russian spy storyline made it sound like two different books in one.
But honestly, I recommend the book, it’s a great read and cute story!

This was a well thought out storyline. It had hard banter, it had disappointment, it had disrespect but it also had laughs, it had love and it had heart. The only thing I didn’t quite like was the total disrespect from Penelope, the princess towards Jessica, the bodyguard. It came off very juvenile but then I realized maybe that was the point so I went along with it. It had an easy flow, lot of flirting and a gay pride adventure that was hilarious. All in all, well done.
A delightful, emotional and sometimes steamy sapphic love story. Penelope, heir to the British throne and her ex- US marine bodyguard take a road trip across America and fall in love. Great characters, the rebel gay princess and the emotionally damaged warrior, with an entertaining supporting cast and with a good subplot. Highly recommended.
Probably 3.5 stars for me. Decent enough story. The writing was a bit clunky at times and there were some spelling and grammar errors but not enough to detract from the storytelling too much.
First book I’ve read from this author and I will read more to see if they can keep me interested.
The ending was a bit unrealistic but solid enough.
Such a sweet and hopeful love story. The author captures the real life struggles many of us find when facing same sex relationships with family and careers and popular opinion and spins it at a whole new level. Sweet and endearing characters. Well worth the read!
A very good story of improbable love with an age gap thrown in. Penny, the Princess in waiting, meets Jessica, the Ex-Marine hired to be her bodyguard, and the road trip they take from DC to LA is a hoot. Lots of secondary characters the will make you smile along the way. Well written, somewhat predictable, but just an enjoyable read.
10/10…. Captivating storyline that kept you hooked and was a good length that you was able to grasp each character’s backstory and baggage! Very good amount of steamy-ness too, wish I could read again afresh! Lovely little enemies to lovers story.
DNF: Right from the start I hated the narration and the character. Tried my best to give it a shot but after 20 pages I gave up. I felt like I was reading a cheap fanfiction. It's like reading a cheap porno.
Excellent story with great female main characters. Who can resist a Princess who falls for a Marine heroine. Throw in a pride festival, a rock star, and a cross country road trip with danger lurking. I couldn’t stop reading till the end.
Really enjoyed the fire & fury of the princess & marine the battle of sexiness was raw & untethered kelp me wanting more so I ordered the rest of your collection look fwd to your next hot adventure...keep the good reads up.
Great read, started as a love/hate relationship and turned to more after a lot of drama, great storyline, great characters, great banter between characters, really worth a read.
