It is 1953. The Anasazi are in extreme danger deep within the Restricted Area of Mesa Verde. The journal of a past Indian agent is found with entries about the Anasazi and a treasure. Now, treasure hunters threaten to discover and destroy their village. Nothing will get in their way. A spirit, befriended by the Anasazi, asks for Jack Trader's help. He joins forces with Ranger Samantha Baker to stop the threat before it's too late. As a last resort, the Anasazi will take matters into their own hands. They are the 'coyote people,' able to transform with deadly consequences.
This is the first book I've read by Michael R. Watson, and I'm happy to have purchased it. Treasure of the Anasazi is a fun adventure with lots of action, a splash of humor, and he did a wonderful job fleshing out his characters. The antagonists didn't take a back seat, and in fact, had me laughing at times. The story wraps around a remnant of the Anasazi Indians, who live in a secured area in Mesa Verde Park. Adding shape-shifting(people who took on the form of coyotes), and supernatural elements, made an interesting concept. Watson is a storyteller, and he wove a wonderful adventure story that I thoroughly enjoyed. So, if you enjoy going on treasure hunts like me, I believe you will enjoy it. Plenty of twists and unexpected turns. A five-star home run for me!
I really love the Jack Trader novels. In this adventure, readers get a bit of a history lesson to do with the Anasazi Indians. When Park Ranger Emitt Barnes is shot, some secrets are going to come up about Mesa Verde Park and the Native Americans who called the place home. A story going around about the Anasazi having a special spring that could delay aging has some unscrupulous people headed there. Readers are going to love the author's style of writing which makes for a enjoyable journey into adventure, conspiracy and even a bit of the paranormal. Thanks to the author for taking readers on an intriguing journey.
