Book 3 - A New Adult Dark Romance

CAOIMHE
Finally, I broke down the walls. He gave me his key and let me unlock the door. He's fully letting me into his life and his secret world, and I can't wait to travel down every back street he is willing show me.

But he needs fixing. I know I can help. I know what he needs, and I know I can give him everything. I can play his tune, if only he'd let me hear the full orchestra.

LOCKEY
I can't do it to her. I know I shouldn't. I won't let myself.

But I must.

The symphony of life got a whole lot more complicated, and I seem to have lost my conductor's baton. In reality, I know; the only way to survive the coming storm is to put her at the epicentre. I have to protect her, and the only way I can do that is to keep her close and hope the jaws of Hell don't swallow her whole.

But I should know already - it's much too late for that.
___________________________

This is a continuation of the story in Locked and Chained. When you're drowning, it's good to have someone to help you swim to the surface. But is there enough air in the tank?

It gets darker. Let's hope the light at the end of the tunnel isn't just another train.
This one... This one might bite. I can't say I'm sorry.
Well, okay; I can, but I won't.

Author This book is intended for those over 18 years old. It makes reference to many adult situations and contains multiple BDSM scenes, some of which may be upsetting to some readers. It is a story of disordered desperation set in a criminal underworld; a world where being nice doesn't pay off, and the good guys don't always win.

Well, I don't think I've ever been through so many emotions in just one book, sometimes even in just one chapter. This was probably my favourite of the series so far just because of the twists and turns in the story. It was so well written and I'll be the first to admit I ended the book needing the 4th to be released immediately.

Tied is the 3rd book in this series and what a whirlwind it's been! I was totally invested in this world and the storyline went in a direction that I would never have anticipated.

Lockey is a bit like marmite, you either love him or you hate him. What can I say other than I am partial to a thick layer of marmite 😋.

I enjoy this author's style of writing. What I love about reading, is escaping into other worlds, and I felt I could easily fully submerge myself into the world they created. I really felt the emotions and turmoil the characters went through. As much as Lockey manipulates situations to his liking, Caoimhe's character has developed tremendously, with such a pure sense of love and loyalty to the man she loves, and his situation. Lockey's character growth evolved powerfully also. What he envisaged as a way out to keep them all safe, wasn't something he could have achieved without growth. Although sometimes I wanted to strangle him for some of his decisions, but he'd like that far too much!

The preview of Bound, Book 4 has left me excited that I have another book left to disappear into this world again. Never have I ran to Amazon so fast to preorder something!

And there was more........... A picture of Book 5. L R. Douglas you're killing me. In a good way of course 🖤

Okay, firstly the ending of this one. Gah. I audibly groaned, knowing book four wasn’t published yet. It took a twist I absolutely didn’t expect but I loved it.

Lockey’s character growth is full-on in this one. Watching him warring between his sociopathy and his desire to do right by those he cares about was painful at time and beautiful in others.

Caoimhe is so much stronger, she knows Lockey better and fights for herself more. I enjoyed her so much more in this book, she seems more mature and better able to see a little more of Lockeys manipulations, if not all. I’ll give it to the author, she is thoroughly excellent at character arcs and fully fleshing out and growing her creations. It’s something that bothers me a lot in series, where the characters are static and seemingly the same throughout. But not here, they grow but are still recognisable as the characters we first met in book one.

It’s hard to review without spoilers and so I shan’t. Suffice to say, this was my favourite of them all and it was an entertaining read - even if the ending made me want to throw something.
