Account of hunting in the wilds of South India during the British Raj. A precursor to Kenneth Anderson, whose exploits took place in the same locale a century later. Sanderson exemplifies the typical British imperialist's superiority complex towards all and sundry, from the careless manner he destroys the plentiful wildlife (only feeling regret after an animal is shot) to the condescending attitudes towards the locals. His tone could become grating and irksome as one progresses through the book. His enjoyment of nature did not impede the wanton and wholesale eradication of wildlife.
