The Kiss Club #2

Late Night Kiss

Rate this book
The hottest DJ around, Emery Maysen’s morning radio show is the top rated in the city. Everything’s going her way. She’s successful, has incredible friends, a great family, and is head over heels in love with an amazing man. There’s just one teensy, tiny glitch in her perfect life. The man she’s in love with?

She’s never actually met him!

Well, not in person, anyway, but semantics. You can learn a lot about a guy from a phone call—or thirty—he made to the midnight show you hosted. Apparently, everything except his last name … or phone number. Which makes finding him when you switch radio stations and timeslots about as easy as finding a safe hiding place in a slasher flick.

Things could be worse, though. She could be stuck on a roof with a tall, dark, and annoying police officer for a 24-hour radio promo. Oh, wait. She is! Talk about A Nightmare on Eagle Street!

As far as corny fundraiser names go, “Cop on Top of a Donut Shop” takes the cake—er—donut. But when Officer Gage Bennett learns he’ll be isolated with a certain maddening redhead he pulled over and can’t forget, he’s all in. Never mind the fact she hates his guts and drives him crazy.

But after 24-hours of being closer than a baker’s dozen, will they kiss and make up or tell each other to kiss off for good?

Late Night Kiss is a feisty, flirty good time featuring enemies to lovers in forced proximity, loads of snarky banter, running inside jokes, horrible pep talks, love to hate you vibes, and enough steam to fuel a sauna!

Late Night Kiss is Book Two in The Kiss Club series. All books in the series have interconnected characters, no cliffhangers, happily ever afters, and CAN be read as standalones.

Angela writes steamy, frisky, fun contemporary romance that always includes humor, heat, and lots of snarky banter. Happily ever afters are a must!

When she’s not writing romance, she’s probably either reading in the “Bunny Estate” (aka his own bedroom) with her bunny, Tag, glued to the TV watching everything from Hallmark to The Amazing Race to John Wick, or going to the theater for a popcorn fix—er—to watch a movie. Oh, and let’s not forget drinking way too much Diet Coke! (Yes, she knows she has a problem. Don’t judge!)

Angela shares her rural home with three short, furry children, Remi, Ruby, and Starsky, and her husband, Dean, who is used to the dogs being mentioned first.

This is the first book I've read by Angela and I loved it. It hooked me from page one.

Emery puts the firey in firey redhead. She's sassy, doesn't back down from an argument and always has a snappy comeback. If she has you in her sights, you better be ready for a throw down. I loved her from the start.

Gage--happy sigh--puts the hot in hot cop. He's smug, funny and goes after what he wants. And when he wants you, nothing is going to stop him. The way he teases Emery, leaving her speechless was priceless.

The whole book has you on edge with the will they/won't they vibe. It makes you keep reading--no matter how tired you are--because you're waiting for the tension to snap. And when it does, ugh! You can feel the tension melt away.

I'll be adding more of Angela's books to my TBR. I loved her writing, the banter between characters and the insta-lust.

A must read.

I am so in love with this series!! I loved Jessa and Chase in the first book, The Kiss Contract, so the expectations for Late Night Kiss was high. But don’t worry my lovelies because Angela Taylor exceeded expectation by a whole football field.

Angela has a beautiful way with words that accumulates into the what I see as a perfect story. Each scene blends together seamlessly to give us a spellbinding and compelling that leaves us yearning for more.

What I loved about this book was how Angela Taylor incorporated the previous characters so much. In some series you find the previous characters are mentioned, but Angela has gone a step further and made them a fundamental part of the story, without taking anything away from Emery and Gage, in fact, in my opinion it enhances it.

Gage is a beautiful character. I find it fascinating watching him go out of his way to antagonise Emery. It sort of reminded me of children on a playground and the boy being mean to the girl because he likes her. It was as amusing as it was beautiful.

He’s a genuinely good man. Yes, given his job, he can see how evil people can be, but he hasn’t allowed that to alter his ability to see the good.

I love seeing a man’s perspective, it gives us a key insight to their thoughts and beliefs, which I think enhances the story tenfold.

Emery is a stunning character, she’s confident and open. She has an inner light that encompasses everyone she embraces.

I love the camaraderie between Emery and her co-host. The work husband angle is just brilliant and their banter is hilarious.

Watching the sparks fly between Emery and Gage was so addictive. The fact that they’d built a relationship previously just added to the intensity of their connection. To have such a connection with someone is something we all secretly yearn for, so to see it in full technicolour magic was spellbindingly beautiful.

This is a truly beautiful read full of emotion, humour, terrific banter and enough electricity to light up a small city. I honestly wasn’t ready for this story to end.

After reading this book twice, to ensure I fully absorbed every single wonderful
word, I had a severe book hangover. I looked up from the pages of the book to see that while life hadn’t stopped while I was in book heaven, my inability to move onto the next book had.

These characters are firmly embedded deep in my heart. If you can’t tell from reading this I cannot recommend highly enough.

So many stars it’s impossible to count.

This is actually 4 ½ stars for me.
I absolutely love Angela Taylor's books.
And this one was so cute I squealed!!!
There's so many things I loved about this book, like:
1. It's very close to being a second-chance romance and it had THE VIBES!
2. Gage was such a mood and I loved that he's always there getting Emery into trouble.
3. Emery's fear of heights makes for good jokes!
4. Forced Proximity on the roof of a donut shop?! Original!!!
5. More Jess & Chase!!! I loooooove The Kiss Contract (the first in the series) and getting more of their personalities and them together through the book was so fun and feel good!!
6. Absolutely LOVED the spicy scenes!

The only things that made me knock it down half a star:
1. There's about 20-30% of the beginning where I felt the characters weren't going anywhere. (Obviously it changed later on in the story, but for a moment I was very confused and was worried these two weren't endgame.)
2. I didn't really get the "enemies to lovers" vibe. Felt more second chance or secret identity!
3. just Emery's energy when Gage tells her the truth, just bugged the crap out of me. The author wrote her well is all I'm saying! 😂

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and love this premise. You definitely have to read it to understand what I'm saying when I say: "how many times do you only know someone by their voice and when you finally meet them in person, you dont IMMEDIATELY recognize the voice?!"
😂 I know it's fiction and that it probably does happen IRL, but this is the second book I've read with a similar plot and it still had me thinking... that is the point the author I think is trying to drive home, but it's still fun and curious to read and think about!

Very grateful to be on Angela's ARC team, to have gotten this book in advance as an e-arc...
definitely recommending to friends looking for a fun story like this one!

This is the second book I’ve read of Angela’s, first was The Kiss Contract where we first met Emery and her mystery caller named “Ben”. We learned that Emery had a hard time dating anyone and kept comparing every man to “Ben” on her radio show because they had formed an emotional connection that she hasn’t found with any man since. Fast forward to this book where we meet Gage Bennett aka “Ben”. He’s a police officer that just so happened to move back home where Emery is located.

Now, these two characters have spoken for months several years ago and never met nor exchanged numbers to chat outside the radio show. Gage had looked up the radio show and saw a photo of Emery aka “Kat” since that was her radio show name and he didn’t know her real name.

Low and behold several years later, mister small town cop happened to pull over Emery and was instantly attracted to her - but did not recognize her or her voice, yet he felt pulled to her and had to get to know her. They had several run ins to which caused all sorts of havoc on Emery - but yet as much as she despised him, she desired him. Emery had no idea who Gage was nor recognized him even though they had seemed to share similar interests. You see throughout the book each character recognizes certain phrases that reminded one another of the phone calls in the past.

This book became an insta lust deal (which wasn’t my favorite aspect) followed by love once the truth is revealed. There’s a lot of push/pull and sexual tension with these characters, several highs and lows that eventually lead to a happy ever after.

Overall it’s a cute book and very quick read, definitely recommend reading The Kiss Contract first to get more backstory about Emery and her connection with Ben.

Late Night Kiss was a joy to read! I adore the combination of humor, heat and heart in Angela Taylor's books. They are so fun to read, but they also give you all of the emotion and steam you want in a romance novel.

I love Gage and Emery! You see their hearts and feel the chemistry between them from the very beginning of the book, and their personalities almost jump right off the page. Gage is the swoony, hot cop every woman wants to be pulled over by. He's witty and charming, sweet and sexy, and he's irresistibly drawn to Emery. I want to be Emery when I grow up. She's outgoing, sassy and so confident, but she has a sweet and tender side too. The two of them are so perfect together, and their banter is highly entertaining!

This story was so unique in so many ways. Enemies-to-Lovers is fast becoming one of my favorite tropes, and adding in the forced proximity in such a creative way made this such a wonderful read. I couldn't put it down! I loved seeing so much of the characters from The Kiss Contract, and I am already looking forward to the next book in the series. (And I'm seriously hoping for Linc's story down the road!) Well done, Ms. Taylor. Such a fantastic book!
I received an ARC at my request.

Love makes you do crazy things. That’s exactly what happened to Gage. He couldn’t stop the impulses that gave him opportunities to be near Emery. A pull he couldn’t explain. Gage is no straight laced serious cop, he is full of sarcasm and chemistry. His way of teasing Emery was delicious.
This enemy to lovers was perfect in the banter, it had me laughing out loud throughout. If I wasn’t laughing, I was fanning myself. Emery’s stubbornness matched Gage’s determination at every turn and the chemistry was off the charts!

If these two aren’t meant to be together, I don’t know who is. They aren’t just perfect for one another, but the way Fate pushed them back together after their blind connection previously…it’s kismet. I melted right from the beginning.

“I’m not going anywhere. But, just so you know, the moment you agree to meet, I’ll be there. Say the word, and I’m there.”
(Swoon)

Of course like any man, there were times I wanted to strangle Gage, but this wouldn’t have been such an amazing rollercoaster if I did. Every decision he made led up to the most amazing climax.

If you love a great RomCom, this is the book for you. Highly recommend.

I love a good RomCom and Late Night Kiss 💋 is a great one! This book takes place in the same world as The Kiss Contract, Angela Taylor's earlier release. Both of these books can stand on their own.
Emery Maysen is a popular radio DJ and Gabe Bennett is a police officer who does not make the best impression on Emery the first time they meet. However, like any good RomCom, Emery & Gabe are attracted to each other and really enjoy annoying one another. Gabe finagles a way to spend 24 uninterrupted hours with Emery - on a roof of a donut shop, while broadcasting on the radio, for charity. Remember, this is a RomCom. Dont worry - the spice is here too. Turns out that there is a connection between these two that neither of them saw coming. One of them figures it out first and..... doesn't say anything. Never a good idea for the character, but for us readers - pure enjoyment. I love the banter between the characters and Angela Taylor makes me laugh out loud. This is my highest form of praise. The next book in this series is Five Alarm Kiss and I can’t wait. I'm sure it will have the LOL I love .... and HOT firemen! Pun intended. 🔥 💋

I would say this was the best romcom I’ve read in a while. It was also a great second chance book.
I loved Emery and her personality. That she would do anything for others even though she had to overcome some of her fears.
I didn’t like Gage in the beginning, he was too cocky and he also lied to her. But he had his moments, so in the end I liked him as well.
It was way easier to read than Jess’s book and I like it more. But it was good to see Jess and Chase.
I also loved Emery’s work husband. I would love to read his book as well.
Side note: When I started the book I thought I won’t be able to finish, because the first few pages (first chapter or two) were over the top and I felt uncomfortable that Gage was basically abusing his power as a police officer. But I’m really glad I pushed through it because it would be a shame to miss out on such a good book.

Meet Cutest

He’s a cop; she’s a DJ. What DO they have in common? More than they think! In this second installment of Angela Taylor’s The Kiss Club series, our hero and heroine have a past but they don’t know it any more than they want a future with each other. She’s a free spirit and he’s rule follower. That works until they are stuck on top of a donut shop for 24 hours in a radio station promotion.

Taylor has crafted a wonderful tale with relatable characters, just the right amount of sass, that delicious push-pull of two people fighting the inevitable, and a really satisfying HEA. Loved the book!

Gage and Emery

Gage's story is a prime example of how love can drive you crazy. He couldn't shake off the feeling that drew him to Emery, and his sarcastic remarks and undeniable chemistry with her were absolutely mouth-watering. This enemies-to-lovers romance was spot on, with witty banter that had me laughing out loud. When I wasn't in stitches, I was swooning - their chemistry was off the charts! Emery's stubbornness was the perfect match for Gage's determination, and their connection was pure fate. I was smitten from the start. Every decision he made led up to an incredible climax. If you're a fan of great rom-coms, this book is a must-read - highly recommended!

This is a well written enemies to lovers romance with strong characters in Emory and Gage. The author does a great job developing their relationship as she brings them together with a fun banter, laughter, romance and steam. It's an entertaining story that had me chuckling throughout. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers a terrific read.

This is the 2nd book of Angela’s I have read, and cannot wait to read more. Emery and Gage were definitely a pair meant to be although it took some time for them to finally meet and fall in love all over again. These books in the Kiss Club series are a must read for sexy, rom com humor and cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommend so go read Kiss Contract and Late Night Kiss right now if you have not already.

I dubbed thee Angela Taylor, Queen of rom-com!
From the beginning, I fell in love with Em (Kat) & Gage (Ben). Loved their radio talks between songs, loved they way Gage needled Emery, and I loved Emery's take-no-crap attitude (although, sometimes, it worked against her).
Needless to say, I loved this story! Of course, I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers, forced proximity & HEA. Did I mention the steam🥵?
I can hardly wait for book 3!

Late Night Kiss by Angela Taylor was a fantastic continuation of The Kiss Club series. I absolutely loved the angsty tension between Emery and Gage at the beginning of the book! The forced proximity with them being confined to the top of a donut shop, genius! I devoured this book in one evening. Late Night Kiss is an amazing romantic read!

Another great read

I fell in love with the first book so I knew I had to keep reading. Book 2 did not disappoint. Gage was the perfect book boyfriend. And not just because he's a sexy cop. 😉 The author did a brilliant job with the character development of these two and I loved reading about how fate brought them together.

I received an ARC for my free and honest review.

I was super excited to read this story as it was built up in book 1. I think you will either love or hate Gage and Emery's story. I enjoyed the back story of how they "meet" for the first time. The writing was good, and the banter was enjoyable. I am not a fan of "Insta-love," yes, I say Insta-love because they had only talked previously and had not met in real life. He was also overbearing but not in alpha protective way.
Like the author, will continue with the series. But didn't enjoy this as much as the first one.

I adored this book. I have to say I enjoyed this one the most of the kiss series. There is something about this story that hit me. The long lost love finds one another in such a random way. This author made her mc sweet vulnerable and caring despite his profession stereotype. She made the FC bada$$ and together they had to find a way to settle their past and move on in the future. I loved how the trope of forced proximity played out here. Obviously it was a forced situation but she made it work well. I hope you take a chance and read this marvelous book. It will hook you fast.

🍩 Enemies to Lovers
🍩 Forced Proximity
🍩 Snarky Banter
🍩 Running Inside Jokes
🍩 Horrible Pep Talks
🍩 Love to H@te You Vibes
🔥 Warning: It just might melt your kindle!

I am a big fan of the Enemies-to-Lovers trope. I find that the charge between characters is always at its best when there is some friction between them. And, as the two grow closer their own thoughts and understandings really give me a chance to bond with them and experience their world first hand. I know this is a lot to ask of any author, but Angela Taylor just keeps rising to the occasion and ensures that I always get a great romantic comedy with characters that are full of spark and sass, and when they finally fall… wow what a coming together of people!

Emery and Gage’s story is no different and I loved the addition of their backstory in LA together under assumed names. Emery went by Kat the Late Night radio host who Gage was talking with as Ben. (FYI Only Taylor could make me like a mistaken identity trope😉) Now the two are in the same small town and they are part of a fundraiser, A Cop On Top Of A Donut Shop. Emery and Gage, now as themselves, are not on the best of terms because of Emery’s lead foot and a problem she has with Yellow Lights. Gage, as the hunky cop that you wish would pull you over, is always sparring with her over everything, no matter what and where they are. Just as with their chemistry, their banter is off the charts, and when they are forced to spend 24 hours together for a fundraiser, not only does their banter increase but so does their understanding of one another. As you can guess, so many scenes will leave you laughing, especially once Gage figures out who Emery was in LA… how will he be able to tell her what he knows and how will she respond?

You don’t want to miss this sweetly heated screwball comedy and second chance romance! Just be sure to put your phone on silent, because Taylor’s writing will keep you so engrossed you will not want anything to interrupt you!

Fun and Flirty with Heat and Heart

Ready for a can’t-put-it-down romcom with some serious heart? Want a book you can get cozy with and forget about the world around you while you immerse yourself in a fun and flirty second chance romance? Looking for some steam with a bit of angst amidst great banter and beautiful HEA? Then you need to grab Late Night Kiss by Angela Taylor.

Taylor does a wonderful job sinking readers into a fun forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers romance with a unique take on a second chance romance. From her well-developed, relatable characters to their authentic interactions laced with humor and a solid emotional investment, Taylor moves the plot along quickly and easily, making it easy to fall in love with Gage and Emery, and heartwarming to see them finally come together.

While Late Night Kiss is book two in Taylor’s Kiss Club series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Much loved characters from book one, along with some new and easy to fall for characters, heighten the sense of community and friendship through the book, but are woven in perfectly so new readers will not miss anything if they have not read book one yet. But, I thoroughly enjoyed The Kiss Contract (book one) and now, thanks to a few subtle hints in Late Night Kiss, I am really looking forward to reading book three as well.

I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers and Angela Taylor hit this one out of the park!

Late Night Kiss can be read as a stand alone, but Taylor does such a great job reintroducing the characters from the previous book that you’re going to want more of them too! Not only does she write wonderful, quirky, REAL characters but the humor and the banter between the hero and heroine is outstanding. The story is a unique second chance romance and with the forced proximity between the two main characters, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s fast-paced but at the same time, it doesn’t feel that way. The story flows so naturally and the situation Emery and Gage are put in means a lot gets revealed in a short amount of time, allowing the reader to connect with the hero and heroine as they fall for one another.

I wish I could read this book again as if it were the first time because that’s how much I enjoyed it. It’s definitely going on my list of all-time favorites, and I recommend it 1000%!

I knew I was going to love this book after reading The Kiss Contract, and seeing Emery's character, and of course the yummy hotness of book 1.

In book 2, we get to enjoy Emery and Gage (who by the way is so snarky and yummy, I could literally eat him up). Emery has a radio show, and Gage is a police officer who pulls her over one day. The banter between them, and the way you can see the attraction, hidden well behind the whole enemies to lovers vibe, is perfection.

These books have the perfect level of humour mixed with angst, tension, spice, and great character interactions.

I'm not going to spoil anything, but when they end up thrown together for a charity event, I was devouring every page like a demon, loving their interactions throughout. All in all, a great read, as was book 1, and both are firmly in my 'reread' folder on my kindle!
