Unbreakable

Rate this book
Jasmine is terrified, starving, and exhausted. Social workers come and go but continue to leave her and her sisters at the hands of their father and merciless monster of a stepmother. Horrifying abuse, neglect, and torture were a reality and staying alive to protect her sisters would soon become her only purpose. In her first book, Jasmine recounts the horrendous details and situations she faced every day for two very long years. As the haunting memories from the abuse and twelve years in foster care are recollected, one begins to feel her sadness and strong desire to overcome her own adversity. Unbreakable is the heart wrenching but riveting true story of a young girl destined for failure but determined to become a woman of strength and resilience. Through it all, Jasmine’s story teaches us that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, everyone is capable of living a life where trust, respect, and love exists if you just believe in yourself and leave your past behind.

An unbelievable story of heartless abuse and The amazing courage of two little girls. And it was so unbelievable to me to learn that I would have lived only a few houses down from the house these girls were tortured in at one time. While I was only in that house for about a year- and so not know if we this small neighborhood at the same time- it is such an important o get to know our neighbors. We never know what is happening in our own backyards. After reading the book, I did reach out to the author- and she replied with a sweetness and genuine spirit. She is truly an inspiration and a gem.

Wow what a read. It just goes to show the resilience of children. I dont thunk as an adult I could have survived. The bond the 3 sisters have is unbelievable. They stuck together through it all, without any rivalry between each other. There were times I wanted to stop reading, cause my head and heart were hurting, then I thought to myself, 'I am only reading this story, these girls lived through it, and came out the other side, and survived, so I will continue to read and be strong like them'. I hope at some stage they can make their so called step mother pay for everything she did to them...
Girls....I take my hat off to all 3 of you, and praise you all for sticking together, and for being Unbreakable...I know I couldn't have done and went through all.those horrible years like you all did, and come out the other side still sane, or even come out alive...my thoughts and prayers are with you all, and I just hope that their is no long time affect on your capability to love and get through the rest of your lives...and I also hope, if someone is reading this or has read this and is going through the same or similar thing, that they take your resilience and your determination to go seek help immediately and not to think all adults in authority wont listen, and/or wont pick up that something is wrong....teachers, police, social workers etc...need to be educated more in what to look for and to act accordingly...do not make kids talk in front of their abuser, and make sure kids know that they can talk to you and tell you the truth and not be left in the house with their abuser after speaking with you...is that just not common sense...
You 3 girls had a horrible start to life, something I can not fathom, and wish all of you good luck in the further 😊

Heartbreaking

I had to stop reading several times because I became so upset, but then I would think, I can escape this nightmare, by simply putting the book away until I was able to compose my emotions and pick it back up, then I would think, these poor little girls had no escape. They could not close the book because it was too painful, they had to endure. I'm glad I finished the book, and I'm glad Jasmine was able to tell her painful story.
I hope that evil witch stepmother, rots somewhere for eternity. She should be in prison or better yet the electric chair. What a horrible, rotten, human being. I believe in God, and I do believe that she will have to answer for her sins at some point. I hope she gets the same mercy she showed those little girls. That would be none.
Congratulations Jasmine, for overcoming and rising above all the odds. Thank you for telling your story. You are a beautiful, strong woman and God's light shines upon you.

Wow!

What a book, incredible that this author physically survived her childhood. Abused daily by her stepmother along with her 3 sisters. Her biological father was just as bad. Thankfully this true story has a good ending.

Heartbreaking

What compels people to horribly abuse innocent children. There should not be a statute of limitations on child abuse. Both should have to pay for their crimes. Thank God someone stepped in before time ran out.
