Two years ago, Scarlet awoke in the forest alone, afraid, and unable to remember anything. Lost and confused, her life was a mystery...until she met a boy with a familiar voice.

Gabriel Archer has a voice from her past, and Scarlet's determined to remember why. She immerses herself in his life only to discover he has a brother he's kept hidden from her: Tristan Archer.

Upon meeting Tristan, Scarlet's world becomes even more muddled. While she's instinctively drawn to Gabriel, she's impossibly drawn to Tristan--and confused out of her mind. As she tries to piece together her history Scarlet realizes her past...might just be the death of her.

Gabriel glanced down. “Seriously, Tristan? You drive around with a trunk full of weapons?”
“Of course.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m the family bad guy

ENCHANTING, SPECTACULAR, GLORIOUS, THRILLING. ONE. OF. THE. BEST SUPERNATURAL BOOKS. I. HAVE. EVER. READ. FORBIDDEN LOVE. TWO BROTHERS. ONE LOVE TRIANGLE.

This book starts with a boom. A fifteen year old girl wakes up in the forest. Alone and scared. How did she get there? Who is she? And why doesn´t she remember anything?

Two years later and she still has no idea who she is. She is just the girl with amnesia. She lives with her gardian, Laura. She has a best friend, Heather, and she has just started her senior year. She lives a normal life. But she has no idea who she is. Untill one day, when she meets Gabriel Archer. He makes her feel normal. Safe. And not a big freak. But something is of. He has secrets. Does he know who she is? did he knew her before? And what is up with the mysterious guy she´s spotted twice and has been so close to unlock Scarlett´s memories.

She and Gabriel slowly starts to build a relationship, and Scarlet gets introduced to a world full of secrets. And SHE is the key to unlock them i

Immorttals, semi immortals, the fountain of youth, curses, death.

This is a GREAT, FANTASTIC book filled with action and drama. When you start, you won´t be able to put ot down. It bewitches you from page one and every question is answered with another question. Until the end, which is a freaking cliffhanger!!! OMG, the ending! It freaking killed me. I have not been this engrossed in a supernatural book series since Twilight. Thank God book 2 is out and the third is on its way!

I loved the authors writing style. It compelled you to the point where you just wanted to keep reading. I loved the characters. I loved simply everything abot this book. And now I only have one question, why on earth have not I read this before?

Before he knew he was immortal. Before life was no longer fragile.
Those were the days when life truly meant something.

When life was hard but worthwile, and love was valuable because your days were numbered.
That was living

Awry: Book 2 review

Dear Lord, from start to finish this was this was severely lacking in originality. If you've just a handful of YA novels you could predict down to the last exclamation point everything that would happen. And I mean everything.

We have the special snowflake...Scarlet
“Do you think it’s weird to kiss someone you barely know?”
No, it’s perfectly normal and gives us a fantastic excuse to make out. Kiss me!
“Totally weird,” she said, immediately wanting to slap herself.
He nodded slowly. “Me too.” Scarlet’s heart sank a little. Gabriel flashed his dimples. “I guess now I’ve got a good reason to get to know you, don’t I?”
Scarlet narrowed her eyes. “Who said I’d let you kiss me even if you got to know me?”
He nodded his head with a smile. “Challenge accepted.”

She's special "just because" and obviously she got the "greek gods" wrapped around her little useless finger. From beginning to end she was just a presence that didn't really add anything to the story unless you count being the reason of the triangle. So I guess there's that.

Then we have Greek God, the first...Gabriel
“Calm down, Braveheart." Gabriel searched through the weapons. "I'm trying to find something not quite as fatal as...a scythe? Really?"
Gabriel held the wicked half-moon blade up and looked at Tristan. "What are you, the Grim Reaper?"
"Yes. Yes, Gabriel. I'm the Grim Reaper. You caught me. I drive around in my car full of weapons collecting souls.”

He's, as you can tell from the blurb, the inconsequential corner of the triangle. The complete opposite of Tristan in the worst ways possible. He's selfish, overbearingly protective, and thinks of Scarlet as some meek, week, vulnerable girl who can't walk into her backyard alone cause she might get lost. The contrast isn't subtle in the least which just seems to detract points for credibility.

That's no his job, Scarlet. Get with the program!

And then we have Greek god, the second...Tristan
“Tristan was silent for a few moments, looking at the leaves before them. "Life isn't about the past and the future. It's about today." He paused. "It's about five minutes from now and two seconds ago. It's moments, you know? Not years. Years aren't what define us.”

So he's obviously the tortured one with a deep soul where everything that spits out his mouth has profound meaning. You're supposed to root for him, in case you haven't gotten the memo. He's the one that truly understands Scarlet and loves her with no conditions or obligations. He's selfless and thinks of Scarlet as someone who can take care of herself, a wildly colored contrast from Gabriel (*ahem* Rhysand and Tamlin all over again).

As for everyone else, they're inconsequential so far. We have the missing parent, Laura, MIA having a life of her own somewhere; the fabulous best friend, Heather, who's only there to make the special snowflake stand out more for being so humble and not caring about her physical appearance; and finally the get out of jail free card, Nate, who just screams "Bonnie" (a character solely used for getting everyone out of trouble).

So despite being this predictable I'm on my merry way to the second book. It accomplished what it set out to do. In the end, I'm rooting for Tristan, I want Gabriel to find a happy ending somewhere else, and I was to curse to end. What can I say? I'm easy to win over....

Oh man, I enjoyed this book. I was engrossed the whole time, and each chapter just seemed to get better and better. The writing is phenomenal, the story is original, and Fine’s storytelling is topnotch. And I cannot forget about the cliffhanger! At first, I thought that my e-book was incomplete, but when I found out that was the end, I was partially stupefied and partially enraged. Why of all places did she have to end the book THERE??

description
Oh, no, she didn’t!

As far as cliffhangers are concerned (and depending on how you feel about them), this book has one of the best/worst cliffhangers I have come across in a while. It definitely has me eagerly waiting for the next book! If you are not a fan, I would advise you to wait to read Anew until the sequel is released.

While the story itself is amazing, the best part about this book is the characters. The reader cannot help but connect to Scarlet. She has many qualities that I really appreciate in female characters: courage, strength, and the ability to throw some awesome comebacks in a pretty boy’s face. I felt her confusion as she attempts to piece together her past and learn who she is, and I felt her emotional turmoil as she struggled with her growing affection for two brothers. One of the brothers, Gabriel, is an all-around nice guy burdened with a curse that will forever haunt him. His love for Scarlet runs deep and true, and he really cherishes her. Tristan, on the other hand, is the bad boy in their little family. He is dark and mysterious, and even though he hides his true self behind a rough exterior and a mouth that constantly spews insults, he also really cares for Scarlet. He is a tortured soul, never able to have the one thing he wants the most, and my heart goes out to him. (In fact, he reminds me a lot of Will from The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.) I am definitely rooting for him in this love triangle! I do like Gabriel, but I will always cheer on the dark, tortured man. I guess I am one of the reasons the saying “nice guys finish last” remains true, but I seriously cannot help it!

I have to commend Fine for her well-written and well-developed love triangle. Very few love triangles are well done. In fact, most are downright torturous. I still think even good love triangles are emotionally grating and frustrating (usually because the guy I like never ‘wins’ and they are chocked full of drama), but at least the men’s proverbial ego wars are absent. I already mentioned this in my review for Clockwork Prince, but I seriously hate it when men fight over a girl through insulting one another, battles of physical prowess, and other creative ways of trying to claim the girl as their own. I think in this case, these ‘contests’ would have been even worse than usual ones since it is a love triangle that involves brothers (I hate when siblings fight). I like the fact that Fine does not include these unnerving elements in her love triangle. It makes the love triangle more bearable (for me, anyway), and it really improves the story instead of hindering it (*coughWingscough*).

Overall, Anew is a WONDERFUL book, and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, Awry, which will be released sometime in 2012 (the exact date has yet to be specified). I cannot wait to see what happens after the cliffhanger! The only thing I ask is for, Ms. Fine, is no cliffhanger in the next book! Please! Do not make me summon Conan again (his service fees are ridiculous).

Charming, addictive story that completely stole my heart! With a unique and intriguing storyline, likeable characters, and great writing, this was a much needed breath of fresh air!

Anew starts off with our heroine, Scarlet waking up in the woods with no recollection of who she is or how she got there. Fast forward two years and she is living a comfortable life in small town Georgia just like any other seventeen-year-old girl. A night at the Annual Avalon Kissing Festival changes everything.

When she comes face to face with the gorgeous Gabriel Archer, someone who is familiar to her for reasons she doesn’t know, Scarlet is plagued with more questions than she had before. Armed with intense curiosity and a fiery (and pushy) best friend, Scarlet demands to find the answers. Soon it is revealed that Gabriel has a twin brother, Tristan who Scarlet also feels like she has a connection to. As pieces of her past are revealed, it becomes clear that nothing about Scarlet is simple and the secrets of her past go back hundreds of years.

This book was so easy to submerse myself in. It’s fast paced, easy to read, and has this effortless feel to it. The writing is simple and smooth with witty dialogue that had me cracking up. The concept of the story is really unique as well. While some things are very obvious, others are not what they seem at all. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen. Then I’d find out the answers, only to realize that is only the tiniest piece of the puzzle.

I have to give an honorable mention to Nate and Scarlet’s best friend, Heather who is hilarious! She’s just the right amount of shallow for it to be funny, but she has a heart of gold and is completely entertaining!

“Where did you find him?”
“Find him? He’s not a cereal toy, Heather.”
“No— but ooh! How awesome would that be? You open a box of Trix and wham! Out pops a hot guy. I would so eat more cereal.”

--

“Sucking in air, Heather said, “Fluffy—Mrs. Allen’s ferocious dog—chased me all the way down Pine Street trying to tear me to shreds with his razor fangs. I barely got away.”
Scarlet scrunched her face. “Isn’t Fluffy a Chihuahua?”
Still panting, Heather said, “Yes. A demon-possessed, human-eating Chihuahua.”

It is told in third person, but from Scarlet, Gabriel and Tristan’s POVs. This format really allows you to get to know the characters individually while also being very easy to follow. I completely fell for these three! Scarlet is independent, resilient, beautiful and strong, a great heroine that I never once got frustrated with. The guys are both great, with very different personalities. Gabriel being the more sweet, safe one and Tristan the more tortured, brooding brother. While this could technically be considered a “love triangle” I really think it isn’t. And if you were to call it one, I’d say it’s probably the least conventional one I’ve ever encountered. To tell you more would be giving too much of the plot away and half the fun is the reveal, so I won’t go there.

I loved this book! I can easily see this becoming one of my favorite YA paranormal series in no time. There is so much more than meets the eye and I am dying to find out all the secrets these Archer boys have on Scarlet. After the VERY intense and emotional ending, it is straight on to the next for me!

"Life isn't about the past and the future. It's about today." He paused. "It's about five minutes from now and two seconds ago. It's moments, you know? Not years. Years aren't what define us.”

WARNING: Possible Spoilers :)

Shot through the heart
Chelsea Fine, you really pierced my heart with this one. ♥

Omg, I don't know where to start. I loved it!
Not just loved it...LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!
I really liked the writing. The story is original.
AND I am tripping over the CLIFFHANGER!
I can make about one prediction that I had
since the beginning of the book and
I'm pretty positive I am right about it.

Now, let me tell you what makes this story.
Well, not what, WHO.
The twin brothers,
Gabriel and Tristan.

Yes, there IS a love triangle
& don't you dare roll your eyes!
This love triangle is great!
Anyone who insults this beautiful, lovely triangle
will get the evil eye from me!
I practice it in the mirror & everything
so I know it's scary & you don't want it.
Because to NOT fall in love with this triangle
is freakin' crazy! (& unforgivable) *sweet smile*

Gabriel Archer is the nice, sweet twin.
He is 100% boyfriend material.
He makes your heart pitter-patter in your chest,
soft and slow, wrapped in a warm comfortable cocoon.
He's stable.
He's the promise or forever with soft brown eyes,
the one you should be happy with.

Tristan Archer is the moody, tortured soul.
He is 100% bad boy.
HE makes your heart pound in your chest,
hard and fast, wrapped in the hot excitement of danger.
He's unstable.
He's the enticing mystery with piercing green eyes,
the one you cant help but lust over.

Both with bodies like Greek gods.

I am of course Team Tristan.
I'm totally not shallow, I swear, but
he is...*sigh* (sexy, hot, gorgeous, amazing)

Anyway, there is an exciting curse added to the mix.
One of the brothers is cursed to only love
one girl in all his existence. (Immortal brothers)
The other is connected to that girl and
finds it painful to be far from her but
the more he is around her the more it kills her.
The same thing that connects them is the same thing
that kills her and gives her life. CONFUSING, I know.
Just read it, it will suck you in.

Look, I know this book has been labelled as Cheesy YA I'm too old for that shit maybe there is instalove in it *gasp*, and you know what? I don't care.

You want to know why? Take a seat. But Watch out! This review may deal with *whisper* feelings. Ugh, I know, big big words.

1) Well, let's meet Tristan first. You know, this guy dressed in black in the beginning. Yep. This one. The broody guy. The one we meet during the first scene, who screams "hello, I'm a complete stereotype !!" - but we love him anyway. And we're right. So. damn. right. Because this guy? He turns out to be so more interesting than he seems at first sight. My little ninja. ♥ ♥ ♥

❝Who are you, Tristan?"
His eyes looked hopeless as they dove into hers. A moment passed, filled only by the sound of breathing.
"Nobody," he said.❞

Annnnd here's the crush. *Blush*

✗ This man has daggers. Seriously. You heard me. Freakin' daggers. Actually he owns a room full of weapons - A freakin' ninja. Of course that's totally sexy, isn't it? If you find it weird, just go on the next point. For the others : Of course I'm totally picturing a mix between a pirate and an AC assassin - Hot.

❝Oh, I'm sorry. I'd hate to ruin your date with my inconvenient trying-to-save-Scarlet's-life plan.❞

✗ Want to hear a secret? I give bonus points to the characters whose smart-ass repartees make me giggle. Obviously, Tristan would fill a room with my gold stars (I'm a teacher, remember?). That's simple, he has this awkward way to make others seem dumb. Especially this Gabriel, you know, the other guy nobody cares about.

❝She wasn't a witch." Gabriel sighed.
Tristan raised his eyebrows. "She cast a curse, Gabe. That's something witches do. They ride on brooms, play with cats, and curse people.❞

✗ Tristan is so damn awesome that he doesn't need to belittle others to look, well, is perfect a too strong word?

Listen, ladies! Here's the difference between our two male leads - let's discover how they see Scarlett -

Perception #1
❝She was tough.
She was brave.
Even if she didn't remember she had it, her strength was still there, deep inside her. Which made him kinda proud.❞

Perception #2
❝Scarlett was so vulnerable, so weak.❞

Does I need to go into detail? No? That's what I thought.

✗ Moreover, Tristan manages to be adorable. Really. Sometimes we just want to hug him, because he suffers from the rudeness he has to show. Wow. He was truly heartbreaking.

To sum up, here's a man with daggers, who lives in a dark basement, whose complex personality offers us a mixture between strength and selflessness. Plus, he's dark-haired and knows how to throw arrows. What - Everybody has his weak spot huh?

However I wanted to say one thing all the freakin' time.

☛ Just one thing, Tristan, Tristan, Tristan,

Got it?

2) What about Scarlet? I must admit that *whisper* I'm often harsh with female leads. Really, I recognize that I'm rapidly annoyed with heroines' monologues but I was pleasantly surprised with this one : her reactions towards the events are always understandable, while believe me, she has to face some really annoying situations. Oh, and she doesn't care how she's dressed. I kind of love her for that because come on, who never wants to slap these heroines who have to save the world and seem to want to live in a let's go dressing for prom day all. the. time. Be careful, I'm not saying she's too much mature, no, her behavior could be the one of a teenager and she's strongly relatable but - she's not obsessed by her looks and... Drum rolls... She asks herself questions and doesn't believe all that some hot guy says to her. And she has a friend. A girl friend. Really.

Amazing right?

Oh, and she could totally be my friend -
❝Hello, I'm a stranger. I'm going to kiss you now. Smooch-smooch. Yeah, no thanks.❞

Kissing festival? Eww. Gross.

3) I talked about another male lead, remember? *sigh*

So, Gabriel,

Okay, maybe sometimes you're funny.
❝Yeah, I hate love-sick goobers. They're so happy and annoying and pleasant... always trying to be nice and friendly." He rolled his eyes dramatically. "It's so irritating

But where are the daggers? Well? In Tristan's room. Got it.

And you're so f*cking dumb.
❝Dude. Are you going to kill someone tonight?❞

Dude, nighttime coffee means serial killer to you? *roll eyes* Be careful people, I might be a serial killer. *nods vigorously*

As you can guess, I couldn't love Gabriel. That's not my fault, but my heart just can't love everybody, and well, I talked about Tristan remember? Adorable broody Tristan?

By the way, more I was going further in the story, more I became aware that he was the opposite of Tristan on many ways. Guess what? That's not a good sign. Hello Gabriel! Welcome selfishness!

4) But a YA wouldn't be a YA without the other characters, you know, the friends. Personally, I have a thing for Nate : hey, the guy has the best voicemail ever and plays videogames. Me loving him is like, destiny. Just kiddin'. Almost.

❝ My bedroom is right next door. How am I supposed to sleep when you're blasting aliens all night?" (...)
"First of all," Nate adjusted a speaker and looked back at Gabriel, "the aliens are on my team - so I don't 'blast' them. Second," Nate's eyes grew wide, "you know I have a wicked fear of sleeping underground. Basements are for bats and axe-murders." He looked at Tristan. "No offense".
Tristan shrugged. ❞

As for Heather, she appears to be a true friend for Scarlett and by the way, she just won me with the awesome concept she brought - just read and tell me^^

❝No - but ooh! How awesome would that be? You open a box of Trix and wham! Out pop a hot guy! I would so eat more cereal.❞

Voilà! I hope my ramblings about these characters will make you want to give it a try. I know what you're thinking though : bloody predictable and unoriginal but let me tell you something (kindly, obviously) : of course some parts remind us of other young adults and this story isn't flawless. I must confess that I had a lot of prejudices - but seriously, Chelsea Fine succeeds in renewing some stereotypes we find in many books and dammit, that page-turner was freakin' refreshing. Funny. I'm gonna definitely read the sequel right now. Even if the blurb just put me on edge.

And you know, Tristan ❤❤ ?

❝Tristan was so weird. And bossy. And... mean. So much for Pancake Tristan. Regular Jerk Tristan was back.❞

Oh, and I almost forgot : no instalove here for me. Nope.

And an absolutely SHAMAZING buddy read with all the most wonderful girls- Anna, Harriet, Jen, Portia, Elena, Maria, and Laura ♥ ♥ ♥

”Life isn’t about the past and the future. It’s about today. It’s about five minutes from now and two seconds ago. It’s moments, you know? Not years. Years aren’t what define us.”

Wow. Wow. Wow. The vast amount of emotions I felt for this story astounds me. I’m not going to lie-when I was asked to read this, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. I was happy to be reading with my friends, but I didn’t know if I was going to like it. I’ve had this on my TBR for the longest time but had always skipped over it for whatever reason. Whether it was the cover, the lack of friends having read it, or just the overall description...whatever the reason, I’ve pushed it off. And speaking of one of those issues above…..Why haven’t more people read this?? It’s SO. DAMN. GOOD. For real!! I know it doesn’t seem like much, but this story rocked. Like…really rocked. I am still shocked even a day after finishing.

Heather took a bite of yogurt. “Kristy Stevens told me she saw Gabriel last night, talking to some creepy guy at Freemont Park.”
“I thought you hated Kristy Stevens?”
“I do.” Heather blinked.
“Then why are you talking to her?”
“Would you focus here?” Heather pointed her spoon at Scarlet.

So…Scarlet. I love this chick. She wasn’t overly anything. She was…hmmm, how do I say this?? Normal. Yeah, she actually handled things how I would handle them. She wasn’t too proud, she wasn’t overly pushy, she didn’t always trust people just because they told her to, but she did just enough….she followed this fine line that I can totally respect, and it was so refreshing. She wasn’t an unrealistic heroine-she was scared, fierce, protective, funny, kind….and confused, as anyone in her situation would be.

From the corner of her eye, she saw a sad smile tug at his mouth. “Your life has had more meaning than a thousand lives put together.” A few more leaves fell. “You don’t remember how beautiful your life has been, but someday you will. And I,” he cleared his throat, “Gabriel and I won’t let you die this time.” He turned to look at her. “So you have nothing to be afraid of.”

Oooooh and here we go-The boys. Oh. The. Boys. Not one, but two. Two wonderful boys who just happen to protect her at every twist and turn…oh, and did I mention they were twins? Dark haired, dark eyed (okay, okay, one boy has beautiful green eyes…but still), mysterious twins. Sound intriguing? Yeah, I thought so. And I don’t know about you guys, but one of them made my heart swell to immeasurable proportions. He was dark, sullen, moody, broody…and completely and utterly heartbroken.

It would happen. Tristan couldn’t stop it. And, if he really cared about Scarlet, he shouldn’t stop it. But that didn’t make the thought of them together any less gut-wrenching.
Tristan stared blankly at the floor as a piece of his heart broke.
His very real, very existent heart.
And so it begins.

Yes, one of the boys has stolen my heart and I don’t think I will ever be able to get it back. Their story, Scarlet and Gabriel and Tristan, is a tragic one. It’s not my story to tell, but just know, not all is as it seems. A completely enthralling and heartfelt story, I fell in love from Tristan’s first POV and on. Their story has been on repeat for centuries, but the love shared between these friends and lovers continues to break their hearts continually. But, even after all these years, they would do anything and everything for one another. And now, even better, we have Heather, Scarlet’s best friend, in the picture. She’s funny, smart, sweet, and loyal-I couldn’t help but to smile every time she said something ludicrous…which was literally all the time. But it was never cheesy or over-the-top. I loved every minute and wouldn’t change a thing. The ending? Epic. Definitely Chelsea Peril approved-which was a totally amazing surprise ;).

His gaze darkened as his eyes left hers and slid down the side of her face to her neck. She could feel them linger there, like her throat-her very pulse-belonged to him and the thought made her heart kick.
Desire…possession…
His eyes floated upwards, slowly and methodically, until they reached her lips. She watched him study her mouth and desire sparked in her lower stomach.
Longing…

Many lives have come and gone, but the story always remains the same. One boy’s soul is forever tortured. One girl will always be lost, but her heart tries to find a way. And one boy’s heart has been torn from his body time and again…..and it all makes for a completely forbidden, epic and angsty triangle.

This was just an ok paranormal book. I didn't love or even really like it, but I didn't hate anything about this one either. And in comparison to some other paranormals I've read which made me mad out of my mind because of the double standards and sexism and basically everything - Sweet Evil, Lux, Hush Hush... - this one was pretty pleasant, albeit bland, predictable and over used read. The paranormal world here is just lame, 'cause there's no paranormal world to speak of. The writing was just.. eh..

But I did like the dynamic the MC had with Tristan (or should I say Damon??). Love interest number 1 was basically Stefan. The MC Elena and her BFF was basically a TVD season one Caroline.

Lets just say someone inspired in TVD quite a lot here...

4,5 stars!

Sigh.. this was beautiful! I forgot how easy it is to get lost in the world of the Archer of Avalon. Everything about it - the characters, the plot, the twists - it's all so much fun! That's exactly what Anew is, an extremely fun read!

"Life isn't about the past and the future. It's about today. It's about five minutes from now and two seconds ago. It's moments, you know? Not years. Years aren't what define us."

In my opinion the characters contribute most to make this story so extraordinary and fun. First off all, there's our heroine Scarlet. Scarlet's feisty, a little stubborn, loyal and generally a strong heroine. Still recovering from waking up in the woods with amnesia two years earlier, she's trying to find her way and figure out who she is in this world she woke up in without memories. I especially like how while she allows herself to be scared and seek solace from Gabriel or Heather, she never lets it completely get to her. Also, I loved that she still made her own decisions even though both Gabriel and Tristan would gladly do them for her and kept bossing her around a bit. But she never gives in to them and does what she thinks is right. It makes her a really likable heroine in my eyes.

Tristan lived in a dark basement. Of course.

Then, there's also Gabriel. The first of the Archer brothers she meets in Avalon. Gabriel is a sweet guy who immediately makes her feel normal again, after two years of a life being everything but normal. Naturally she's drawn to that and the weird familiarity she feels every moment she spends with him.
I sort of liked Gabriel the first time around, though of course he's always in the shadow of his simply more interesting brother, but this time, knowing what I do about their history, he made me extremely mad! I won't go into it because of possible spoilers, but know that I think he's being so extremely selfish this whole time. I do feel bad for him because his part of the curse really does suck a lot, but compared to what Tristan and Scarlet go through.. his curse just pales in comparison. And the way he deals with everything drives me nuts. He never helps Tristan in his attempts to end the curse, but always makes him the bad guy, although he doesn't even know what his brother is doing! He's just making his assessments based on assumptions and it makes me so mad! And I won't even go into the whole Gabriel-Scarlet-Tristan thing because I'd end up rambling forever and spoiling everything. I think it's time to move on.

"All these arrows are sharp and have blood on them."
"Yes, well. I left my cotton candy arrows at home next to my teddy bear."

Moving on to Tristan!! My baby. My everything. Tristan is such a tortured soul and I love it! He's moody, sometimes kinda mean, usually a jerk and extremely loyal if you look under the layers of assoholery he hides behind. Especially already knowing his reasons during this read, I felt for him so much. I hated having to watch him watch Gabriel date Scarlet and swoop into her life while he can't do anything about it. His situation is so damn fucked up and it's just not fair. But at the same time because of all that, we get to see his jerk-side and I'm not complaining. Because jerk Tristan is soo hot, especially since it's all to keep a certain someone safe. ♥ Tristan is one of my favorite heros ever, just so you know. I think reading this series would be so worth it, if only because you'd get to meet him! He's wonderful in every single one of his incarnations. Regular Jerk Tristan. Moody Tristan. Pancake Tristan. I don't care - I want them all!

"You think I hate you?"
Scarlet shrugged. "Do you?"
Tristan looked at the floor, then at the wall, and finally at Scarlet. "No."
Their eyes locked again and Scarlet's chest tightened. He was so beautiful and guarded, like he had a thousand secrets and no one to trust.

Of course while I was busy swooning and gushing, I completely forgot to mention how funny Tristan could be. Seriously. Especially the dialogues with Gabriel are hilarious. Tristan acting like he was doing something completely normal, even when he was leaving the house in black Ninja attire with a sword strapped to his back. And Gabriel being completely exasperated with him pretty much 24/7. It's all extremely entertaining and I could read about them all day long.

"We're not going to kill that guy."
"We might."
"Tristan, that's homicide."
"It's self defense."
"It's not self defense. He didn't come after you."
"But he came after Scarlet. And technically, Scarlet is a piece of me. So yeah, it's self defense."

One simply cannot argue with Tristan. He will always have the upper hand. You can just give up right now. Here's one more, for good measure.

Gabriel stared. "I cannot believe you actually did that."
"Maybe if you weren't such a pretty boy you could do it too."
"Just because I don't want to track down crazy people in the woods on a full moon doesn't mean I'm a pretty boy."

Aren't they amazing? And speaking of amazing, I still haven't talked about my favorite zombie slaying nerd-guy Nate. While he doesn't have too many scenes in Anew, he still owns the ones he does have. Seriously, I absolutely love that guy. He knows basically everything, is Tristan and Gabe's servant go-to guy and handles every single one of their crises.

"Can I get you anything? Water? Juice?"
"Do you have Lucky Charms?"
"Uh, maybe. Do you want Lucky Charms?"
"If you've got them."
Scarlet smiled and led him into the kitchen to make him a bowl of cereal like he was a four-year old or something.

You simply HAVE to love Nate. Everything else is impossible. I can't wait to read more about his awesomeness in the next two books, because trust me, there's a lot of it in there. ♥

"Nate held his hand in the air. "Good to see you, Scarlet. High-five!"
She awkwardly high-fived him. "Do we... know each other?"
"Yep. You just don't remember me. But no worries. I'm super awesome and you're going to love me."

Look at me only rambling about the characters! And I haven't even talked about Heather yet. Heather is Scarlet's crazy best friend who frequently talks in text language and is generally a little insane. But she's an extremely loyal friend and probably the best thing that happened to Scarlet after waking up with amnesia. She adds even more charm and funny scenes to these books and I love her for it.

"Of course not. She's not a cry-baby. She's fine. She's just...far away, you know?" She snapped his fingers in his face. "So fix it. I need my best friend back. And also, I need her to start wearing matching socks. Today, she had on a white one, and an off-white one." She tossed her hands in the air. "Unacceptable."

So, as you can see, I have a thing for basically all of the characters. But while they make up a huge part of why I love this book, doesn't mean the book has nothing else to offer. The story world Chelsea Fine created is very special and definitely unique in the YA genre. There are curses and fountains of youth and crazy ash people, all for your pleasure. I absolutely love all the paranormal bits Fine spun into her story. Also, there's so much mystery. The reader's left to figure out what exactly happened in the past with Gabriel, Tristan and Scarlet and how it all affected them and their actions. Even the second time reading this, I love all this mystery, although I mostly know what happened, because now I completely get why everyone is acting the way they do. I can't wait to re-read the next two books when the real action will happen. ♥

READ THESE BOOKS!

My goodreads friends, my first 5 shining stars of 2013 goes to....

First of all I want to thank my friend Sarah, who convinced me to read this book A-S-A-P *Heather mode*. Although it wasn’t as soon as possible as I wanted to, I'm glad I read it now when I have all of the series so that I don’t need to wait longer for the sequels. And most of all thank you to Ms. Chelsea Fine who wrote this amazing book that without a doubt will be on my favorite series shelf and I will definitely read it again and again and again in the future.

There are reasons why I loved and enjoyed this book, so let me explain it. Reincarnation and long lost soul mate are one of common stories. But then again I believe there aren't stories that don't influenced by other stories. It authors jobs to make it their own story. I don't mind if the story has similarity and influenced by others as long as it has its originality. Anew is a story like that, though the main theme wasn't new, Ms. Fine brought it differently it makes this reincarnation-long-lost-soul-mate kind of story become her own story. It is kind of fresh story to me. This story has many elements, romance, humor and paranormal but none of it overwhelmed each other. It's perfect and completed those elements.

The characters are also perfect. No one has bigger portion than another. And most important is I can feel and connect with all of them. I love scarlet & heather friendship, I like their B-F-F *again in heather mode* though heather is kind of noisy-witty bestfriend she completes scarlet personality. She made me look forward her wittiness. She's the one who keep scarlet normal and I can see that they are only 17 year old. I also love the Achers brothers, their look alike with different personality, again it make me see that there aren't similar person, each person is unique and I love the fact their difference influenced their act. Laura and Nate as supporting characters are also great, I look forward for their story and I believe they have bigger role in the sequels.

Character name is one of my elements to connect to the story. It's weird, I know but I find there are uncommon character name nowadays. If the names suitable with the story I can feel they are really belong to the story thus it makes me connect to the story itself. Gabriel, Tristan, Nathaniel and Scarlet are names from a long time ago. I mean there are classic story and famous people with those names, so it makes sense if they came from hundreds years ago. And Gabriel and Tristan are my most favorite boy names so of course I love it :D

Although Anew is not pure unpredictable story, I still got surprises here and there. It also made me keep wondering, keep guessing where the story goes and made my heart beat with the characters. But there are issued that I think need to be explained more. and a part aboutsomehow I can’t picture it in my mind, I really hope Ms. Fine has another explanation other than the way it is because if it is so, I kind of feel she don’t have a reason of at all. Yet it didn't stop me to give it 5 stars because I still hope there will be more explanation and description in the sequel, after all this is just a prequel, a beginning to the whole story.

All in all I loved and enjoyed Anew and surely can’t wait for the sequel, Awry and [Book: Avow|15711844].

As Tristan said, if you had this book, you have to read it today. It's so worth it and I bet you won't regret it.

Meh. I give this one a 2,5 stars rating. It's really not a bad book : I enjoyed the writing and (some) of the characters (namely Heather and Tristan, the latter being the main reason I kept reading, I thought that Gabriel, the main "love interest" was boring) but I felt like nothing of real significance happened. Seriously, there was little action, the big reveal took forever to unravel and that REALLY frustrated me. Scarlett started off as a strong character but started annoying me once she learned about her special "condition". I don't even know how to explain it really...i was just expecting MORE. More action, more drama, more romance, more excitement....(also I kept hoping this would be a retelling of the arthurian legend and was actually disappointed when I found out it wasn't. Ridiculous I know. But in my defense, the book IS called the archer of Avalon ;D)

This one could have been a real page-turner (short chapters, great opening scene, a swoon-worthy boy) but unfortunately it fell flat for me. However, I will pick up the sequel when it comes out mostly because I really want to know what happens to Tristan.

What an awesome story! It was so beautiful, kind of a beautiful sad. The characters are in pain, but you still love it all the same. The originality of the story line hooked me from the very beginning and kept me up well past midnight!

I hardly ever believe in love triangles, not many authors can pull it off. It’s always painfully obvious who the leading lady should be with. But this one was different. I can see how Scarlet might be confused about how she feels. One brother loves her utterly and completely and gives her what she needs. The other is incredibly complicated. But whoever said the road to true love was easy? I know who I would choose, but Scarlet is young and a litte naïve and is at a disadvantage of not knowing what the hell is going on right from the start. And it doesn’t help her that the boys are keeping secrets. But in the end I think she realised who she is meant to be with. But if they are to have any chance to be together, they must first break the curse. Which I CANNOT wait for!! The sexual tension between Scarlet and one of the boys is so intense I had to take a minute to calm down, my heart was literally racing! It’s a wonder I didn’t die from heart failure.

At the end I cried and cried and cried. My heart simply bled. But like I said, it was a beautiful sad. I loved it. It was an incredible climax. And I CANNOT wait for the sequel! Please hurry Ms Fine!!!

"What was the point of living if only to die? Her eyes still closed, Scarlet listened to the forest."

Dark, cute, heartbreaking and hot hot hot immortals! I want more!

I EFFIN LOVED THIS BOOK! I was kind of avoiding books about souls reincarnation thingo these days, not many authors can pull this off. But this book was actually quite a pleasant surprise! A romance that will pull at your heartstrings. Chelsea Fine did an amazing job weaving a beautiful (but tinged with sadness) story about a mysterious girl who knows nothing of her past but her name, Scarlet Jacobs.

I was completely engrossed with ANEW. This book is on third-person narrative of multiple characters, that's Scarlet, Gabriel and Tristan. Characters were great, they have actual depth and personality. I was mesmerized by their story and anxious for them. And man, the love triangle, it was refreshing and so good, well executed. One thing I don't like about Scarlet was she can be a kill joy sometimes (cant blame her though, not having a memory at all suck) but a great strong character nonetheless. And this twins Gabriel and Tristan were so cool and funny and sexy! Gabriel is a sweet, jolly guy while Tristan is a broody, mysterious kind of guy, its because he has a reason to be, I adore him. Loved it when the brothers bicker with each other, and also Nate and Heather such a cute and great friends.

Plot twist was great and unpredictable, mystery has kept me from guessing, the storyline was more of revealing the curse, and Scarlet meeting the boys, the complicated love, pain, life and death and a great friendship and a little bit of memory flashbacks. Great for para and romance lover. But there's still some questions that needs answers and I guess it would be on the second book .And the ending! OMG breath-taking! I cried! It was a good darn CLIFFHANGER! I really want more! *dies*

Quotes I loved:

Tristan was silent for a few moments, looking at the leaves before them. "Life isnt about the past and the future. Its about today." He paused. "Its about five minutes from now and two seconds ago. Its moments, you know? Not years. Years arent what define us."

"Knowing death is nearby gives you a chance to live...deliberately." -Tristan

" Before life was no longer fragile.
Those were the days when life truly meant something.

When life was hard but worthwile, and love was valuable because your days were numbered.
That was living." - Tristan

Girl meets boy. Boy has brother. Girl dates boy while secretly wanting brother. Comes to find out girl and brothers share a past. Remind you of another series? This love triangle stuff with siblings is getting old. It NEVER ends well. Overall this wasn't a bad book. However, due to this love triangle involving brothers I will not continue. I'm pretty sure she will choose the asshole brother. Isn't that how it always goes?

Buddy read with Chelsea, Harriet, Laura, Alienortothemoon ♥, Portia, Elena & Maria

I was hooked from the very first page. Anew sunk it’s claws deep into my heart, and I am still in shock over how much this book made me feel. The sarcastic humor had me constantly laughing, the undercurrent of mystery and love had me turning the pages as fast as possible and the characters warmed and angered my heart. Anew completely captivated me, and I never wanted to leave the town of Avalon.

Hope, mystery, love, despair, and at the bottom of it all is a curse. Three curses to be exact. This will become Scarlett’s life but she doesn’t know that yet, or more correctly stated, she doesn’t remember her past yet. Scarlett wakes up in the middle of the forest alone and terrified out of her mind. The only thing she can remember is her name. The rest is blank, completely blank. Fast forward two years and she has settled into a nice, safe life. She is lucky. But her world is about to be shaken and she will have two boys to thank for that. Gabriel has a voice that she recognizes, that she knows but can’t place. While getting close to Gabriel, she discovers that he has kept his brother, Tristan, a secret. Why would he do that? And why does she feel such a strong pull to Tristan? What other secrets are they keeping from her?

Wind blew across the porch, lifting a strand of her dark hair and blowing it across her face. A rush of memories – shoved to the depths of his soul in punishment – broke free and flooded his mind as he stared at her.
Memories of love. Memories of life. Memories of torment…death… (Tristan)

For me, there is no competition. There is no debate over which Archer brother is the right one for Scarlett. Tristan completely won over my heart and soul. His dark, sarcastic humor was intoxicating. His selflessness and bravery was endearing. And his love and interactions with Scarlett were incredibly butterfly inducing. Even when he was being a jerk, I couldn’t get enough of him. Tristan is everything I love, and so much more.

Scarlet eyed the brothers for a moment.
Trust her gut? Her gut was currently telling her to run her hands through Tristan’s dark hair. She wasn’t so sure her gut was reliable.

Scarlet is sassy, tough and brave. Throughout each pitfall and each emotional memory, she tried to stand strong. She wasn’t going to let some curse get the better of her. I loved her attitude, but one thing drove me a little crazy this second time around. Her ability to become close to Gabriel. I understand he made her feel normal and safe but honestly, I just can’t stand behind Gabriel. He was so vanilla. I never felt any passion or lust between him and Scarlet. And some of his actions bothered me. They say love makes you do desperate things, but for me, he takes it to a level I wasn’t comfortable with. To put it bluntly, there were a few times I wanted to punch him in the throat, make him disappear, and bring Tristan into the picture. I’m clearly not biased or anything! But in all due honesty, Gabriel wasn’t that bad. But the problem for me was that he wasn’t Tristan. He could never be Tristan.

He looked haunted. Pained.
Her heart thrummed as she felt something sorrowful grow inside of her. Heavy and warm and full of regret, it whispered something to her soul. Something powerful. Something sad.
Something Scarlet couldn’t remember.

Anew mesmerized me. While the mystery unfolded, I found myself falling head over heels for a tortured soul and rooting on a new favorite heroine. The side characters were quirky, fun and memorable. And the storyline left me laughing, breathless and the feeling that my heart was going to explode out of my chest. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series progresses, because I may have just found a new favorite series!

From the corner of her eye, she saw a sad smile tug at his mouth. “Your life has had more meaning than a thousand lives put together.” A few more leaves fell. “You don’t remember how beautiful your life has been, but someday you will.” (Tristan)

*4.75/5*

Before I begin to ramble about this amazing book, let me tell you one thing: I do not want write this review right now Why? Not because I don’t have much to say about it (yeah in fact I could talk about the plot and the characters, especially TRISTAN for hours…), no it’s because I so want to read the sequel straight away that I have trouble to think about something else!

Having say that, it’s my duty to tell you why this book is so awesome and make sure everyone who will read this review will add “Anew” on their TBR shelf! What kind of blogger I would be otherwise?

So, I think you did understand that I loved almost all about Chelsea Fine’s novel, starting with the plot.

I must admit the beginning let me confused. Kissing Festival? Really? Definitely gross. My first thought was: OMG in what kind of world everyone’s kissing strangers just for fun? In fact, it was only an excuse to introduce our heroin and prove Chelsea Fine’s humor…

So go forward, because this story is really a little nugget which make my heart beats faster all along the pages. I have to say Chelsea Fine got me at the word “curse”. Sometimes I really don’t need more than ONE idea to keep me on the edge. And Chelsea Fine did that particularly well because she managed to surprise me at each chapter with her marvelous ideas. At first, you believe everything is quite simple but let me advise you and don’t let the author fool you because she definitely knows how to keep her cards close to her chest. To conclude: be prepared, you will not be able to put this book down until the end!

But, being honest, what definitely won my heart? The characters.

Okay, being really honest, TRISTAN won my heart. Oh.My.Gosh. I don’t even know where to start with him. I might tell you he is a part of a love triangle but hey guys , don’t hurl at me about that because in my opinion there is not really a love triangle in this story. For me, Tristan is the love interest. I know I could be wrong but still, in any case, he is MY love interest. In short, he is all I love in a man character: mysterious, broody, moody and definitely swoon-worthy! *Whisper* Don’t tell it to my husband but I totally fall for him. Hard.

So, and in order to keep the things clear: on the one hand, we have Tristan, the bad but oh, so sexy brother who made me collapse more than one time (yeah literally, I must admit tattoos drive me crazy… yeah I know: cliché…), and on the other hand we have the boring brother: Gabriel. Don’t get me wrong, Gabriel is quite great. From time to time. He is kind and helpful but even if he shares the same DNA with his brother, he can’t compete. Besides, I found him pretty selfish with Scarlet…and not really brave...

By the way , it’s about time to talk about our heroin, don’t you think? I can’t say I totally adored her in the beginning. She was a bit naïve and kind of annoying at time because I really felt she was not wondering the right questions. However I knew immediately Scarlet had a huge potential. She is the kind of heroin you learn to love because even if she is far from flawless, she is decisive, sensitive and quite badass around the end of this first novel. Above all, she doesn’t trust guys only because they’re handsome and that's a really good point! Go girl, you don't need guys for take care of yourself! Yeah Gabe you're my target!! Besides, Scarlet lost her memory so I think she's not really herself in Anew. I'm pretty sure I could talk more about her when I will review the next installment... So we'll see...

Finally, I need to say some words about Heather. The fun and kind of crazy Scarlet's best friend. Like Tristan, she totally amazes me! Seriously, I want the same best friend, she is absolutely wonderful!! I think I could fullfill a plain notebook with her quotes because her feedbacks are always totally hilarious! Takes this one for perfect example:

Well, I can't believe I finally finished writing this review!! It means ONE thing: I can resume my reading with the sequel!!! See you soon about that, guys!!!

(Last thought: you must wonder why I rate this only 4.75/5... Just because I know, from a reliable source, Awry is even better!!)

***I would like to thank Chelsea Fine and her publisher Karen Gray for providing a review copy in exchange for a honest review.***

Ever since I heard about Anew, I couldn’t wait to dig into it. I was drawn to the three things that everyone falls for when reading an engaging and fresh paranormal YA book - the mystery, the exquisitely developed characters and the romance - and they definitely did not disappoint! It had a very unique twist to the paranormal aspect, which is never a bad thing, so I was instantly hooked from the first to the last page. The story was full of gut-wrenching action, adventure, intrigue and thrilling romance. I couldn’t put it down. A well thought-out idea by Ms. Fine and just as brilliantly executed - Anew will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat!

The one thing that I was blown away by was the storyline for this book. It was very original and completely fascinating. Above all, the way Ms. Fine crafted the idea, especially, had me impressed. This idea of an unknown past, an ancient curse, having a hole in your memory and your only connection to those memories: 2 guys - makes for one very compelling novel. With new twists and turns around every corner, the fast-moving plot will have you pulling your hair out, trying to figure out the mystery of Scarlet’s lost past. The plot was to-the-point, (I loved that!) - making the story an overall engaging read.

Like previously mentioned, the characters in Anew were amazing. There is just no other way to describe them. The characters had depth and the fact that they were NOT perfect, was the icing on the cake. Scarlet, Tristan and Gabriel all had palpable flaws - making it easier for readers to sympathize for them or with them. This is also clearly seen through the changes in points of view. Getting snippets of Tristan’s or Gabriel’s perspective throughout the story, really helped to understand the “whys” of their decisions. Not a fan of more than one points of view in a story, the change in perspective, surprisingly enough, I found did not overwhelm the story. The transitions from one character to another were smooth and very well done - which I greatly appreciated.

As far as relationships go, Ms. Fine did a brilliant job in developing a relationship among the brothers and Scarlet, that surpassed the “rules” of a normal love triangle. Each brother has a very distinct relationship witch Scarlet - which not all borders on just being romantic. Scarlet and Tristan have a lot of chemistry between them and they have that instant connection - whereas, Gabriel is more of the best friend type. While all signs do point to Tristan as the final outcome of this relationship, the set up of this love triangle proves (to say the least) to be unpredictable and the happy ever after remains to be seen - which is probably why I wasn’t cringing at the romance.

Anew was, without a doubt, a highly addictive and enjoyable read. With a mind blowing ending, that leaves you with more questions than answers (not a bad thing), I am anxious to get my hands on the next installment, Awry. A fantastic start to the series, Anew was a definite page turner. To say I am impressed with Ms. Fine’s work, would most certainly be an understatement.

My Rating: 5 of 5 HEARTS!!!

WoW! What a way to begin the brand new year with an awesome book that had me hooked from beginning to end. For the life of me though I can't believe I put off reading this book for so long. I'm not really sure why but I thank God that I decided to pick it up, all because of my groups A-Z Challenge…wooohoo. What I loved most was how unique and refreshing the storyline was on a genre that has been done so many ways to Sunday. I really was captivated and drawn into this paranormal world that felt so real and true.

Anew is a fantastical story about a Scarlet Jacobs, who two years prior found herself waking up alone in a forest with no memory of how she got there and who she was. The only recollection she did have was of a symbol she forever doodles all over herself and her shoes. This symbol had to have meant something because it's the only thing she ever remembered of herself or her past. What is more weird is the fact that no one came forward to claim her or even filed out a missing person's report. Alone and scared, if it wasn't for her guardian, Laura and her best friend, Heather, she would be wandering Avalon with no clue. They gave her a chance at a normal life. Until one summer's day at the town's Kissing Festival, her life as she knows it would never be the same again. In walk The Archer Twins. Yes, Tristan (this delicious bad boy has you swooning and sighing) and Gabriel (he irritates me at times but his heart is in the right place) Archer. These twins are hiding something, but little does Scarlet know of the depths of their connection to one another. I mean, there are so many twists and turns in this mysterious story about two brothers and a girl it's so hard not to love the triangle that they are in and it really doesn't determine the story whatsoever. There is enough action and drama to keep you intrigued and excited about turning the page. Most of all, I found myself really investing in the story as well as they characters. Especially Tristan Archer. Oh man, where do I begin with this tortured soul who is so tumultuous and moody, and rude, but at the same time, so sweet and gentle and would do anything for the one's he loves and cares for. The only thing that had me put off at the start was nothing more then the fact that Tristan bares the name of my two sons lol yes, my boys are named Tristan and Archer. But, in saying that, I got over it pretty quick and saw him for who he really was, a character in a story about something fantastical yet so wonderful.

I absolutely love this book and am grateful to add this to the list of series' I love. I highly recommend those of you who love a great paranormal romance story that is shrouded in mystery and will have you wanting and craving more, just like me. So, take a chance and read it, please!

I am well and truly sick of unresolved love triangles. The writing of this book is good enough. The characters are strongly presented and the story progresses right along. But I had two problems with the book and they dropped my enjoyment immensely.

First, as I said above, love triangles are completely overdone right now and I just don't feel like tolerating another. I like Gabriel and setting him up against his brother is just cheap. Yeah, you can see they're both sincerely devoted to Scarlet, but they're also both setup to be the standard driven bad boy vs. kind milquetoast. Ugh.

Second, the author is unnaturally coy about elements of the plot. From the first time we meet him, Tristan is trying to end a curse by killing someone. The details of the curse and who he is trying to kill are left completely obscured way past the point of it being mysterious. During one conversation, Tristan cuts a friend off before he gets to the name and that's just cheating. Tristan has no reason to cut him off beyond that the author wants to maintain the "mystery". I got so impatient, I went and read some less-than-discreet reviews just to see what the heck was going on. Seriously, I completely fault the author for that degree of coyness and it completely ruined my desire to finish the book.

Whaaaaaaaaaat! A book can't end like that! It just can't.
Well..it obviously did, but still! That is so mean!
Anew was an amazing and incredible ride, if you're looking for a paranormal romance novel.
I definitely hate love triangles, but in this case it didn't bother me that much. (I know who my baby is...TRISTAAAAAAAAAN)
The characters were really interesting, especially of course Tristan, and so adorable. Cough Tristan cough
Anyway I think by now you got that Tristan was my favourite character. He is a troubled soul so I couldn't just NOT want to comfort him.
Gabriel, Tristan's twin brother, who also happens to be the other end of the love triangle, is great as well. But he wouldn't necessarily come to my mind when it comes to amazing characters.
Scarlet, the female protagonist, was really likeable and enjoyable as well.
Overall Anew was a fantastic read! So stoked to continue this series.

PERCHE'???
Io DEVO LEGGERE IL SEGUITO, DEVO, ASSOLUTAMENTE!!!

This book was not what I thought it was going to be, but despite that, I really enjoyed it! Scarlet's past was so unique and interesting to me. I thought the author did a great job of putting the premise together. It drew me in and was a different take on the paranormal stories we usually see.

As far as the characters, I LOVED Tristan. I wish we got more of him in this book or more from his perspective, but I can see him having a bigger role in the future books. I was definitely team Tristan. Gabriel seemed like a little boy in comparison. Despite him having a bigger role in the book, I just didn't gravitate towards his character. Scarlet was a solid character. As far as side characters go, I wish we got to know more about Laura, Scarlet's guardian. I feel like there were moments where the author hinted at Laura knowing about Scarlet's past, but it was never elaborated on. And then there is Nate. He brought some comic relief to the book and I kind of wish he got to Georgia earlier on in the book, but he was great to read about. And lastly, Heather. I absolutely did not like her. I found her to be annoying and childish.

I don't know if I'm going to continue on with this series, mostly because I did find some parts to be slow and I felt like the story was dragging. I also feel like this book would have been great as a New Adult or Adult series.
