Sandra Kennedy has been the "pastor" of Whole Life church in Augusta, GA for some time. I've been here since 1983 and I believe she has been the leader of that church at least since that time. I've heard portions of her sermons on TV from time to time and know that she promotes a "name it, claim it" theology, positive confession, and stresses that healing is God's will for all and that "with His stripes we are healed" means physical healing rather than (or at least not also) spiritual healing (salvation from our sins). So I have dismissed her teachings. But after reviewing similar teaching from Joel Osteen and other false teachers I decided to read some of her books. In this book I was pleased to find at least a Gospel message presented rather clearly. "If Jesus is the Sin of God, He should be Lord of every facet of our lives." A wonderful confession! "If we truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God, we will heed what He has said to us. We will obey His Word." An excellent confession! Then the Gospel: "If our faith concerning our eternal destiny is in our own righteous efforts, we will end up in hell; however, if our faith is in the blood of Jesus and His righteousness, we will end up in heaven (Ephesians 2:8)." If she ended her book there, it would have only been a tract but it would have been a good and useful one. But Sandra Kennedy must add to salvation something I suppose she feels it lacks. She believes faith is not just faith in Christ's substitutionary death on the cross but must include faith in healing, gaining worldly wealth and influence, and earthly possessions. She began to take on the same message of Joel Osteen. Here's some examples: "Faith is the substance whereby we get things from the unseen to the seen. . . . God has already created everything we need in the spiritual realm. He is just waiting for us to call what we need from the spirit realm into the natural realm." This dangerous heresy acknowledges God's power but places that power in man's hands or at least words. She says, accurately, that God has given us the "measure of faith" but does not even mention faith for salvation but instead focuses on these "needs": healing, financial breakthrough, deliverance from habits, and any other need we may have to be "victorious". Like Osteen she harps on never talking negatively and only making positive confessions. Toward the end of the book she gets bolder in her positive confession strategy: "All we have to do is what our Father did: call those things that be not as though they were." Oh! Is THAT all! What audacity! I am sure she would think that a good thing. But we are NOT the Father and NEVER will have His power to create ANYTHING! She likens such creative miracles as calling in a dog from the backyard: "Church, All that we need - health, money, security, favor, wisdom, peace, joy - is in the "backyard". All we have to do is call it in and wait for it to come!" But let me go back to the beginning of the book to share my most serious criticism of Sandra Kennedy's ministry: She says, "If we truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God, we will heed what He has said to us. We will obey His Word. We will not dare to go against what He has commanded." Dear Ms. Kennedy, read 1 Timothy 2:11-14. Are you obeying this Word of God? How about 1 Corinthians 14:34-37? Women can be brilliant and Godly but one thing they cannot be, according to Scripture, is be a pastor. #forhereticalresearchonly
