The Super Simple Guide to Housetraining is the most comprehensive houstraining book on the market and it will teach you everything you need to know to make housetraining easy and effective at any stage of your dog's life. this newly revised edition of the original bestseller features a vibrant new format, updated photos, and "Super Simple Tip" sidebars in each chapter.
An easy, fun read on housebreaking that closely matches (almost word-for-word) my recommendations to new pet owners on housebreaking their dog.
Other books I recommend focus on so many topics owners may not read the whole book. This book really gets down to brass tacks and tells you what you want to know about getting your pet to go outside in a straightforward and accessible way.
If I were recommending this book to my clients there were two caveats I would make:
1) This book does not warn owners at all about the potential dangers of raw food. While I am glad they recommend people talk to their veterinarian, raw food can put household members at significant risk of exposure to dangerous bacteria.
2) The book discusses how to train your dog to go to the bathroom outside without any supervision. As a vet one of the #1 reasons pets come in with vomiting and diarrhea is that they got into something outside when their owners weren't watching. Even if your dog *can* go potty without you watching, I'd rather they not.
I loved the author's modern positive training methods! It made me feel confident that when we get our puppy we'll be prepared for house training. Very practical and honest advice on housetraining; the author doesn't hide the hard work and commitment it will take to get your puppy housetrained but she makes the process make sense. Great for puppy owners or owners with an older dog who still has housetraining issues.
