Inspired by the awesome Arnie movie Commando. Violet Vixens were hand picked smoking hot Commando's plucked from the army. Assigned to a covert CIA action team. Trained killers now in Cuba to unlease. The leader Viki was good. She killed. She killed well. She individually killed a hundred Russian/Cuban soldiers. Shot repeatedly she plunged into the ocean. In the sea the sharks circled. Then a frenzy of copulation. Viki gives birth to a fusion of man and shark. Yes a man shark. It's on the cover. It's not strange. The height of a man, strong athletic, the head of a Mako shark. Razor sharp teeth. It could walk, swim like a shark, fly out of the water. It's first kill left a sour taste in its belly. His first time holding a rifle felt alien. It will kill, kill, kill, blood, guts adorn the army barracks. 700 plus dead. Heads opened up like blood swollen boils. Only Brian can do this. Also might have been inspired by Churchill's Vixens an obscure 70s mens adventure book series.

It’s Commando meets James Gunn’s Suicide Squad meets Street Sharks in Brian G. Berry’s newest novella: Commando Shark.

And yes, before we get into it, the idea of human/shark hybrid going solo against the might of the communist Cuba and Russia seems ridiculously stupid, however, Berry makes this story so much freaking fun that it’s hard not to love it.

Clearly tongue in cheek and clearly an homage to Berry’s favorite Arnold film, Commando Shark is my favorite work of his since his other shark based story, Snow Shark II and proves he is the king of shark based insanity.

My only complaint? This was far too short as I was way too into it and wasn’t at all ready for it to end.

I can only hope this does well enough to warrant a sequel because I need more Commando Shark in my life…and believe me…you do too!

Commando Shark

This was a brutal fast-paced read with plenty of action, as always. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a bit of an emotional sort of thread running through the whole thing as well! Great stuff, sir shark master!

This was a blast to read! If you want fast paced carnage on every page then what yah waiting for? Sharks are my jam and just knew Berry would deliver an amazing tail (get it?). Loved the Jason vibes, once you read it you will know what I mean. Stop reading this and go read this story!

I’m going to be honest, I have absolutely no idea how to describe this book - but despite the rather disgusting blurb - the content within is much more tame than is made out. ‘Commando Shark’ is by no means high-class literature, but it’s great fun to read, particularly for those of us who are fans of old school action cinema and men’s adventure novels from the same era. A rip-roaring pastiche of Jaws, Commando, and Charlie’s Angels all rolled into one short novella!

I was worried that this was going to be more action heavy than I like my silly shark books, and that was the dumbest concern I've ever had going into a book.

This was fun. It was fast-paced. It was utterly ridiculous. Like all of Berry's work that I have read to date, it put the biggest smile on my face and absolutely made my day.

If you like sharks, you need to be reading The Shark Files. I don't know how or why I put it off for so long.

The book cannon-marvel-troma wish they could write. There are munching and machine guns aplenty. A Berry classic.
