Jonathan Drazen is a known womanizer and a gorgeous piece of
man I'm not letting into my heart. Ever.

Yeah, he's rich, beautiful, charming as hell, and he has a wit as sharp as a double-edged razor... but he's made it perfectly clear that this is a short-term fuck. Three nights, tops, then we part like sexually satisfied grown-ups.

I believe him when he says he can't love me. I'm not trying to fall in love, either.

We get in. Get it on. Get the hell out. Done.

Right?

Right.

C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

★★★★★! BEG, part 1 of 7.5. Playboy & mogul Jonathan Drazen’s seduction of aspiring singer Monica Faulkner!

“Where did you learn to do that?”
“Los Angeles High School of Performing Arts,” I said. “They taught me how to open my throat to sing. Then Kevin Wainwright taught me how to put his dick down it.”
He laughed. “I’d like to thank LA Unified and Kevin Whatever for this moment.”

Songs of Submission is the whirlwind saga of aspiring singer Monica Faulkner and hotelier and real estate magnate Jonathan Drazen. Books/novellas should be read in order:
Book 1: Beg
Book 2: Tease
Book 3: Submit
Book 3.5: Jessica & Sharon
Book 4: Control
Book 5: Burn
Book 5.5: Rachel
Book 6: Resist
Book 7: Sing
Book 7.5: Monica
Book 8: Dominance
Book 9: Coda
Book 10: Breathe

Beg, book 1 introduces us to Monica Faukner and her hectic existence juggling a part-time job as a waitress, performing with her band and solo, spending time in the studio and taking turns watching over a suicidal friend.

Her first meeting with hotelier and real estate magnate and her then-boss Jonathan Drazen did not go well as she spills a tray of drinks on him. Before firing her he provides her with a contact to her next waitressing job. Their story goes from there.

Beg is very much the build-up of sexual tension following them as Jonathan and Monica keep running into each other. But both have demons in their past and a relationship is not on the radar for either one. Whereas Jonathan is open for a no-strings-attached hook-up, Monica is more looking to focus on her career. So Jonathan turns to seduction… the very best kind of!

 photo ReissSongsofSubmission1-7HerobySueBee_zpsdbd38f18.jpg

Wow! is one way to sum up Jonathan Drazen. And seven words to describe Jonathan: Captivating, non-committal, sexy-as-hell, enigmatic, private, relentless and memorable.

“She didn’t take a dime. She took everything that mattered.”

 photo ReissSongsofSubmission1-7HeroinebySueBee_zpsa558fa92.jpg

Seven words to describe Monica Faulkner: Focused, talented, loyal, interesting, endearing, witty and strong.

“I didn’t need one so pissed at his ex-wife he’d make me fall in love with him before apologizing for leading me on. He wanted to hurt women, and nothing froze my creative juices like heartache.”

Part 1 ended abruptly, but no worries just jump right over to part 2, Tease for the continuation of their story.

Spellbinding storytelling! Compelling characters! Scorching sex scenes! I can feel the coming of an epic read!

“I’ve never heard of a man trying to sandwich another woman between fingering me and fucking me in the same day.”

This is the hottest series you’re probably going to read in a while. It’s a bar-raiser, I’m warning you right now.

C.D. Reiss is the new author to watch out for.

With a writing skill that can only be described as sexy, gritty, sharp, and sinfully stunning; she creates a sensual story line decorated with addictive characters.

And then she lights all of that on fire.

 photo tumblr_m61zr2ZVnV1rukn5wo1_500.gif

That’s the only way I can describe it. ;)

Monica

Living in the City of Angels, Monica just wants to do the one thing she and her two best friends live for: music. She has voice that’s the stuff of top-shelf whiskey, and her best-friend Gabby plays the piano like it’s her only God-given talent and she’s pissed off about it.

And coming off of a bad break up with her sexy and artistic boyfriend, Monica has vowed to never let a man break her heart again. Because when it’s at the expense of her own artistic talents… it’s just not worth it.

Until she spills a drink on the Jonathan Drazen.

Jonathan

 photo tumblr_m8ndlleu9h1qi8mw9o1_500.jpg

His green eyes flickered in the lamplight. I had to admit he was stunning. His copper hair curled at the edges, and his smile could light a thousand cities.

Well. That’s how Monica describes him.

Me? Well. I would describe him as…

*Sin.
*Sexy.
*Christian Grey’s role model.
*Business mogul.
*Erotic incarnate.
*Can do some wicked (and I mean WICKED) things with an ice cube.

Yep. He’s pretty much everything you’ve ever done that implied your having to close your window shades first.

And then some.

“I want to touch you.”

“Not yet.”

“I’m going crazy.”

“No, you’re not.”

 photo tumblr_mg0ok59k4g1s1zgq4o1_500.jpg

“Not enough.”

But the thing is…

Jonathan’s already spoken for. He’s still in love with the woman who was lucky enough to be called his wife.

And she left him for another man. And the whole world saw it.
But even though Monica knows he’s basically a taken man…
And that she literally can’t afford another heartbreak…

 photo tumblr_lqndlt7dSw1qi8mw9o1_500.jpg

She’s still going to beg.

That's all.

4.5 Begging for it Stars

"If you don’t want to go home with me, I won’t hold you to it. We can wait, or we can call it off."
"A bet’s a bet."
"You sure? I can be demanding."
"So can I."
He stepped back and smiled. "Not tonight, you’re not."

I've had this book sitting in my kindle for the past few months. So why haven't I read it before now? Because I am a friggin idiot, that's why! Yes, I'm woman enough to admit this. And admit it I will. (And shout out to SueBee and Allison for giving me the last friendly push I needed. You guys are filled with awesome and I heart you both!)

But enough of that, and let me talk about this book. This is the first novella in a series and I am completely and utterly captivated and sucked in. How do I review a short novella? By giving you my reactions to every addicting morsel.

Jonathan

Yes, he's another sexy billionaire. But, he's also a redhead. He was not crazy possessive, slightly insane, or insanely domineering. He was a sexy as hell enigma. The man was fucking hot. Period. I want to lick him.

Monica

NOT another meek and introverted virgin (THANK FUCK!). I knew from the first few pages that I will really like Monica, and I was not wrong. She was independent, owned her sexually, knew when to tell someone off, yet the way she gave in to Jonathan never came off as weak. I'd do it too. In a freaking heartbeat.

The writing??
Please,"
"Not yet."
"Jesus, Jonathan. What do you want?"
"I want you to want it."
"I do. My God, I do."
"No, you don’t. Not enough."
I knew what he wanted, and I was willing to give it to him.
"Please. I’m begging you. I’m begging. I’ll do anything you want. I’ll be anything you want. Just don’t—"
He drove his dick into me with a ferocity that shocked me and turned the last word into a cry.

Do you really need my reaction here? Well, if you're curious, let me confirm those suspicions.

I am sucked in, addicted, and completely blown away. Seriously Ms. Reiss

That is all the gushing ramblings you'll be getting from this girl, because I am off to lick...err...read more Jonathan. And I thank you

5 Steamy Stars that have me Begging for more.....

YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE THIS STORY.....

People say it get's better, it gets off to a slow start???? Let me tell you, this genre and story is just my cuppa tea down to every last detail.... and for me it hit the ground running, as soon as I started... the narrative and flow of the subtle writing, Monica's internal monologue, the introduction to the characters... I loved it straight away.... Every. Single. Word.

I'll tell you my thoughts.....

This sexy song of a story starts with a dream which is very apt because this erotic little gem of a book is a *dream* sounds like a cliche, I know, bit it's so very true.

Jonathan Drazen, "..a bazillionaire...".... remember that name, he will become a book boyfriend legend with his man sexy, sexpertise ways..... I would Beg and Beg him for more... Oh yes!!!! By the middle of this short book he only had to enter the page and I was melting.

"...red hair cut just below the ears, disheveled in that absolutely precise way."

Use your imagination ladies that's what I'm doing..... and I'm seeing yumminess...... and he smells soooooo good.....Mmmmmmmm.

Monica.... "..long brown hair and black eyes." she's beautiful and I learnt she's beautiful inside and out.

Monica's internal monologue is a joy....she gives us glimpses of their past through her thoughts and conversations, she's immersing me in her world of thought; her feelings, her angst, her dilemmas, problems.... her thought process..... worries.... I got so much from this character which is incredible when the book is only 102 pages long. I feel like I'm deep in her head.... and Jonathan is right next to me ♥

Beg is HOT, HOT, HOT off the scale scorching with Jonathan's looks, charisma and power, and the chemistry between him and Monica.... be ready with a change of underwear, ladies!!!!

"....I felt as if I were being eaten alive, sucked to fluid, mouthful by mouthful."

Lovely!!!

"The hardness between his legs felt enormous on my thigh."

It has given me the book tingles in a big erotic, book butterfly way..... I can feel epic greatness coming ... I'm now on book 4.... and each has been as good as the last with a delicious cherry on the top.... If you haven't started this series yet......

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???!!!

I just read 100 pages, and that’s all it took for me to recognize brilliance.

My Jonathan:

(I know he is everyone else’s Jonathan, but that’s because he’s perfection. I am currently obsessed with Michael Fassbender now.)

michael fassbender motorcycle | Michael Fassbender Actor | Vipsons

We don’t know much about Jonathan yet. We know he is rich and has many sisters. He is stunningly gorgeous and charming. He is alpha in the bedroom, but not too much alpha outside the bedroom. His heart has been broken by his ex-wife, and he doesn’t believe that it can be mended.

No promises. No lies.

Of course I love Jonathan, who wouldn’t? He is perfection. And he might just make it into my Top 10 by the end of this series. But this book is more than just a rich, sexy guy (Let’s face it. With some books, the rich, sexy guy is all that’s going for it).

The writing is...dazzling. I am dazzled.

Monica is a singer. I LOVE to sing, like when I start singing…I tear up…because I love it so much. At one point, I had to make a decision as to whether or not I wanted to make a career out of it. I decided not to pursue it. This book really touched that part of me.

The way Ms. Reiss writes about singing and music is...breathtaking.

 photo tumblr_mge34bmNwb1rpnhqfo1_500_zps64c70019.gif

My Monica:

Monica is one of the strongest heroines I’ve ever read. She is up there will Nora from The Original Sinner, in my opinion. She isn’t too strong though. She is vulnerable in many ways. She is a singer, trying to make her way. Her heart has been broken, but she doesn’t dwell on it. She has friends, who I deeply love and care about…because she deeply loves and cares about them.

Needless to say, Jonathan and Monica are hot, hot, hot together. And it’s not the same old, same old sexy times. It’s fucking brilliant sexy times!!! I haven’t liked it this much since Knight (and if you know me, you know how much I love Knight…He’s my #1…so yeah, that gives you an idea).

“I’m going crazy.”
“No, you’re not. Not enough.”

I need to make an official apology to Irene, my ladies in the Big Books Club, and all of you die-hard C.D. Reiss fans for not reading this sooner. I get it now!!!!!! I’m a fan of C.D. Reiss for life!!!!!

4 JONATHAN STARS

description

I feel like the only reader on the Goodreads planet that has not yet met the infamous, Jonathan Drazen. Monica and Jonathan have filled my feed for so long that I knew I'd have to meet this 'loved-by-all' couple sometime soon and what a surprisingly great start to this series, I'm interested and involved in equal measure and I'm hoping that the rest of the series is a treasure worth reading. After book one has started off with a bang I am ready for more, Here are my 'I've finally started this series' thoughts ...

What's it all about?
This short book is part of a Series under the name 'songs of submission'. This first instalment gives the reader a taster of things to come and we are introduced to Monica, a struggling musician and Jonathan, a charismatic billionaire. Their lives come together by a chance meeting and explosive attraction and this book gives the reader front row seats to the beginning of a will they/wont they? relationship ...

description"/

What did I love?
The writing style in this book is lovely. It has great flow and has made me more than interested in the characters. This short introduction gave me a great taster of things to come and for such a short book I already feel invested in the characters and development of the storyline. Jonathan is already shaping up to be a very likeable hero, I'm more than willing to spend my reading time getting to know him more and work out the mystery surrounding him. Monica is just my cup of tea when is comes to likeable heroines, strong, talented and determined. I'm hoping that I continue to connect with this couple as the series continues and I'm also interested in getting to know the surrounding characters too. Overall the hour I spent reading this book grabbed my attention, entertained me and gave me the beginning of a love connection that certainly made me sit up and take notice.

description

Why not five?
This book is designed to be a series of short books, 'beg' felt like a prelude, a taster of things to come, so simply put I think the author is leaving the best till last, but don't be mistaken my appetite for this series has started and I'm ready for more.

Final thoughts ...
This short book has already gained my attention, I believe in the authors writing and I'm convinced I'll continue onto enjoy this series, the author left me with enough curiosity and interest in the drama and characters and I'm
sure each book will feel like an addicts next fix. If like me you have been living under a rock and haven't started this series this may just be your next favourite series. Join the fun ... Enjoy kisses.

When I opened my eyes in the dark club, I knew I had them; every one of them stared at me as if I had just ripped out their souls, put them in envelopes, and sent them back to their mothers, COD. Even in the few silent seconds after I stopped, when most singers would worry that they’d lost the audience, I knew I hadn’t; they just needed permission to applaud. When I smiled, permission was granted, and they clapped all right.

Wow!

I hesitated before I started this series for one reason actually. I don't like the concept of the presence of an other woman somehow involved. Unfortunately Jonathan is a divorcee and apparently his ex-wife was the love of his life and he is still in love with her.

Then the rich and beautiful Jonathan will meet the waitress/musician Monica and he will be clear about his feelings from the beginning- although the attraction between them will be off the charts.
So, if I was Monica I would probably run on the opposite direction and never look back at Jonathan.

Monica on the other hand, begs.

Jonathan's ex-wife, though not present, still is a vivid memory. She feels present, even when Jonathan and Monica are as intimate as possible.

BUT honestly when I was reading this story, I couldn't stop! The writing is so captivate, poetic and strong. And the sexy moments are one of the hottest I have ever read. I finished it in less than 2 hours.

I imagine that the ex will appear in the next books and that we will have many battles and many tears until the conclusion of this story.

Singer songwriter, Monica, is a struggling musician. Something had to go in her life so she could focus on her craft. Men are the thing she has cuts out of her life.

Billionaire, Jonathan Drazen, is a known womanizer. His heart was broken by his ex wife and to prevent that from happening again he won't let any women get close to him emotionally.

A bet is set in place between these two.
"I won't hold you to it...we can call if off."
"A bet's a bet."

I didn't enjoy the use of the word

5 Pleading, Wanting, Begging for More Stars
* * * * *

July 20, 2013
The Blurb:
This novella is the first in a series

My name is Monica. I’m a singer born and raised in Los Angeles.
I’ve stopped dating. When I cut a record, or win a Grammy, maybe then I’ll be with someone, but every man in my past has done everything he could to make me submit myself to him, and it’s gotten in the way of my career. I won’t do it again.
But there’s Jonathan. He owns the high-rise hotel where I work, and he is gorgeous and charming. I refuse to fall in love with him, even though when he asks me to submit to him, I want nothing more.

Well, I Want a Lot More...

I am begging for more....... this series comes in many parts each so perfectly put together, they are little works of art.

I am remembering a phrase from the book, no words big enough. That is how I felt discovering this gem. It is like sinfully, rich dark chocolate almost too much for your taste buds.

It leaves you begging for more... C. D. Reiss is ready with the next treat...she is ready to Tease.

Hot damn! I haven't flew through a book at that speed in months!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Monica is an aspiring musician, working as a waitress to make ends meet.. In her spare time she babysits her best friend with suicidal tendencies. She doesn't have time for a man. She needs focus. Focus for writing lyrics, focus for her friend, focus to survive. When she proceeds to spill an entire tray of drinks on some VIPs at the club she works, she's fired. Great.

 photo image_zpsa1b539b7.jpg

Jonathan Drazen, red hair and green eyes, uber wealthy hotel mogul just got a bath of cold gin by the loveliest women he's seen in a long time. Having been through a divorce he did not want from a cheating spouse, he's chosen go the route of man-whore. He will not be humiliated by a woman like that again. And this brunette waitress looks good for a night of fun! Maybe a little severance package to boot!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Monica is a tough chick. Life makes her that way. It's refreshing to see the banter between the sexy millionaire who can get anybody he wants and the rough around the edges musician that blatantly refuses him. She's a challenge...and everything his ex wife isn't.

The book is in Monica's POV and the scenes are scorching. I seriously devoured it. The author has a writing style that's believable with a slow build that leaves you reaching for the nearest fan.....or ice maybe?

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

We had some of the hottest non-penetrative sex scenes I've read in some time!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Cannot wait to continue this series! Thank goodness it's out as I'd go nuts waiting for the next installment. She leaves questions unanswered but not necessarily cliffys. Moving on with my SSS SueBee!

4 Sensual stars!!

Monica meets Jonathan (her boss) precisely when she’s being fired.
They had an immediate connection and soon that connection becomes something more, but as they both try to deny it, they basically give themselves to a completely hot and free from commitments relationship.

description

This was a pretty good book and I usually don’t like short stories very much. (It gives no time to fully connect with the story or the characters.)
The characters were pretty good and the story line was nice and HOT. It was too short, but as I heard that the next books are so much better and it left a blank space to do so much more with this story I will definitely continue reading this books.
Go give this a try ;)

I try to stay away from these stories that are put out in parts. I always worry that it will either just die off and I will be left hanging or the wait will kill me. But I picked up the first 2 parts of this one.

So far I am really enjoying it with one exception. He's a friggin' ginger.
Now, he is described as hot...he could look like this:

But I can't get this image out of my head:

I seriously had to totally rework his description in my head. But other than the scary image of Carrot Top in my head this was hot. Monica is a girl after my own heart. Not ashamed of her lust for this hot billionaire and willing to give into her need without being overly annoying about it.

The installment is short, but you can still get a feel for the attraction, their personalities and the sexual tension.

He breathed a deep ahh and said, “Where did you learn to do that?” “Los Angeles High School of Performing Arts,” I said. “They taught me how to open my throat to sing. Then Kevin Wainwright taught me how to put his dick down it.” He laughed. “I’d like to thank LA Unified and Kevin Whatever for this moment.”

His Irish good looks were undeniable next to anyone, even movie stars

This was a fairly quick read and a hot introduction to this series..... I hear it only gets better.

It was sweet, and doomed and pointless but it was late, and he was handsome and funny. I many not have been interested in having a boyfriend, but I wasn’t made of stone

A quick enough read. Off to start …

3 stars!

My initial thoughts when I see a serial series:
 photo trap.png

Just when the story gets good it gets cut off and that drives me crazy! Plus I need character development to truly love a story and you can't get all of that in one edition of a serial.

But the lovely Jen says the series only gets better, so I'm trusting her.

I also want to point out that CD Reiss is a very compelling and captivating writer. I read this book all the way through and didn't put it down. The only reason it's getting a 3 is because I liked it but didn't love it (right away). I look forward to more character development in the next installments.

"He pushed his hips between my legs and kissed me again. I was hungry for him. A white hot ball of heat grew beneath my hips. We kept kissing and grinding, hands everywhere. I pinched his nipple through his shirt and he gasped, biting my neck. I hated my clothes. I hated every layer of fabric between myself and his cock. I wanted to feel skin sweating above mine, his dick rigid and hot, his hands at my breasts. I wanted those hard dry thrusts to be real, slick, and sliding inside of me."

Great start. I'm picturing this heroine as a sort of punk girl, for some reason. Her attitude is one of total dedication to her music and complete loyalty to her choice friends. But she also has a sort of eff you attitude toward the world and everyone in it.

`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`
Kind of a really great mix of characteristics for her, and I am definitely intrigued. Monica is a female that I can sort of wrap my head around up to this point.
I'm kind of seeing Nicole Atkins as Monica:

And Jonathan...now, he's another complex character. (I like Richard Madden for Jonathan...not exactly a redhead, more of an auburn haired hottie, but it's the best I can do.)

He's rich as heck, but he seems to be a fairly down to earth guy. No secrets, really, no hidden agendas. He's divorced and there is some big history with his ex wife. That's about all we know about him...other than that, he is very interested in Monica, and he likes control in the bedroom. Not necessarily BDSM control up to this point, but whew. The lone sex scene in this book was explosive.
`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`
"Please," I said again."
"Not yet."
"Jesus, Jonathan. What do you want?" My sex ached for him. It didn't feel empty. It felt full to bursting, a throbbing, pounding hunger filling my skin.
"I want you to want it," he said.(...) "Beg for it."

`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`~*~`
I was wondering and hoping that I would fall into the "love it" category for this series as so many of my friends have recently, and I'm happy to say that I am intrigued in a big way.

Sometimes, when you read a novella, you feel like you skim over the plot and only prick the surface of the characters. This is not the case with Beg. I honestly felt that I got to know the characters well, both central and secondary, and this really does feel like a great beginning to what could be another good series. The pacing is excellent – they don’t end up in bed together straight away. They don’t even meet right at the beginning - plenty of time is given to explaining Monica’s situation and setting the scene.

She’s a singer in a band with her ex Darren and her suicidal friend Gabby. They’re struggling for recognition and are being shafted by their no-good manager. To make ends meet, Monica is working in a bar in a hotel owned by Jonathan Drazen. Jonathan is extremely rich and owns several hotels and is a famously heartbroken divorcee and, to help heal his wounded soul, he’s well known for his womanizing. He has fun with them for a brief period of time and moves on. Quickly.

Monica, more than distracted by Jonathan, manages to empty a full tray of drinks into his lap and finds herself fired on the spot by the bar manager but Jonathan manages to convince her to work at another hotel owned by one of his friends. They share a flirtation and Monica manages to resist, at least for a short while, and I really enjoyed how they slowly got to know one another despite the sizzling attraction that burned between them.

Eventually, when they succumb to that overwhelming desire, their scenes are super hot as Monica loses a bet and agrees to do ‘anything that he wants’ for one night until the sun rises. It’s very sexy and, of course, we’re left wondering what will come next. Jonathan is known for his very short-lived dalliances with beautiful women and Monica has just decided to enjoy the ride, however long it lasts. Who knows what the future will bring.

Jonathan is charming and funny - he's not one of your darkly brooding billionaires. He's easy to warm to and, so far, has no jerk-like tendencies. Monica is quick and witty and I really enjoyed their banter but she's a little guarded and is reluctant to submit to Jonathan but he has a way of quite literally charming the panties off her! I think there's great potential for a challenging relationship here and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.

This is another great example of a novella so well written that you don't feel like you've only read 100 pages. All the characters we've met so far are very well written and have depth. The story sounds like it's going to have some wicked twists and turns but doesn't it always when our hero is still hung up on his ex??

Really looking forward to see what happens with Monica and Jonathan. Off to read Tease right now.

An aspiring singer who has sworn off men because heartache stifles her creativity. A notorious hotel mogul with a taste for casual sex and a heart that hasn't recovered from his ex-wife's betrayal...

There is a trend I've noticed in modern romantic fiction - the serial series. These are short (usually abut 100ish pages) but the narrative sometimes lasts for nearly a dozen books. In the case of the Songs of Submission Series, the narrative lasts for seven books.

The whole idea is that the first book is free, and a teaser to get you all hot and bothered and ravenous to download the remaining books. This can be quite aggravating, because the book suddenly ends at the exact moment I start to get invested. It's exasperating, and its damn' clever.

...And it worked for me in a big way in Beg.

I liked Monica. She is a refreshing surprise considering the type of women I typically meet in these types of "Domineering Mogul meets Poor Girl" romances. She's strong, she has goals, and she goes in to her fling with Drazen with her eyes wide open. (I just realized we never learned her last name... its not "Sexybitch" despite what her douche-bag manager Vinny would have you believe)

I'm still on the fence about Jonathan Drazen. He's definitely a strong, sexy, tragically untouchable male lead. I'm interested in seeing how his character develops over the course of the series.

I'm also impressed with the additional characters - Monica's friends/band-mates and her manager at Stock. They're carefully crafted in a way which ensures that we'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

Final Thoughts - It's worth the read. Beg is FREE on iBooks & Amazon, it's a fast read, and most importantly, it makes me want to read the rest of the series.

Update: 01/28/2014
I have finally made my way back to this series and did a re-read of this book to get me started. I don't have much to add to my previous review other than to say I'm glad I came back to this series & I'm excited to continue reading about Monica and Jonathan...

This is the first story/novella in a series of 7 books. All I can say is OMG -WOW-Why didn't I read this sooner.....that was a Fanfreakingtastic way to start a series!!!

She works as a waitress to pay the bill till she gets her big break. She lives with her best friend and fellow band member, Gabby. She has sworn off men, 18 months to be exact, when she accidently spills drinks on the owner of the hotel, her boss, and the most stunning man she has ever seen. The best part of Monica is her feistiness and her reaction to Jonathan!!

A man with a past. His ex-wife left him for another man but she took his heart with her. He would never give it away because he would only ever love his ex. He is by far on of the most charming men you will ever meet.
 photo a64162c5-aa87-4e0f-b53f-8063831f8ecc_zpse99ad3c3.jpg

Their story begins....."Because you make me curious." Monica has no desire for a boyfriend, she is concentrating on her career and doesn't need a man to interfere. Jonathan will always love his ex-wife, he's honest with everyone but he enjoys women, especially beautiful women. But Jonathan is attracted to Monica and this book is jammed packed full of sexual tension with a side of quick wit and super hot, panty melting, get a fan out to cool yourself off scenes.

 photo jonathanandmonica_zps2d7fc789.jpg

"I like you, Jonathan." "Feeling's mutual."

He was hot, he was charming, and he didn't want anything out of me but the same thing I wanted.

"I'm not about to suck your dick so you'll make a call for me."
"And I'm not making the call so you'll suck my dick. So, now that we've cleared that up, can you get on with it?"

"Beg for it."

There are a cast of supporting characters (Gabby, Darren, Kevin, and Debbie) that all are quite integral to the lives of both Monica and Jonathan. We get Monica's POV in this book and we get a glimpse of her past and how certain people fit in her life. Monica and Jonathan have a great banter, both are cleaver and cheeky with each other. It makes for the best buildup when Monica finally agrees to meet Jonathan.

I'm writing this review as I have finished the first sequence of books. All I can say is get your one click finger and immediately go and one click the entire series. I know I'm not finished with all the books but so far it is AMAZING, FABULOUS, HOTTER THAN HOT, DELICIOUS, and WICKEDLY WONDERFUL!! I can't wait to go back and start reading the next sequence.

Epic BR with my besties Barb and Jxxx. We've recruited Mo and Lkay along the way and wanna thank all you girls who are chiming in that have read these intoxicating books. Also wanna thank SueBee :-D

It's hard to review a book when you're rereading, especially when it's a part of the series because I obviously know what's going to happen next. But since I wasn't writing reviews at the time I've read Beg, I am glad to do it now.
There's something unique in C.D. Reiss's writing style. It might sound strange, but for me it's like watching old, classic movie. You sit, watch and enjoy, except here, you sit, read and enjoy. And, oh boy, I enjoyed every page of it!

This is a great start to Monica and Jonathan's story. You can see from the beginning that Monica is no weak, whiney heroine. No, the girl has a strong backbone. She is determined and focused on her career, doesn't need distractions and relationships in her life right now. "I have things I'm doing. I can't be up all night fucking because my voice gets messed up. I can't think about a man, any man, nothing personal, when I should be writing songs. Carving out enough nights for song writing, between gigs and working, is hard enough without making time for a boyfriend. So, I mean, I had to give up something in life, and it's men." And although she set up her goals long time ago she can't resist the attraction that pulls her toward Jonathan. Speaking of which, everyone who knows me, knows that I am a little obsessed with Michael Fassbender and / or Jonathan Drazen. Hence, I can't imagine better casting for the hero than Fassi.

Now, a little bit about Jonathan. The guy, although really hurt in previous relationship, is still in love with his ex-wife. "She didn't take a dime. She took everything that mattered." He is not looking for anything more than some nice bedroom time but meeting Monica wakes something in him. It may be just physical attraction, it may be more, I guess we will find out later in the next parts of the series.

And finally, C.D. Reiss can definitely write amazing sex scenes. They were hot! Not too soft, not too rough, just perfectly balanced. I hope to read more of them in next installments.

"I just kept telling myself I didn't want you, but we said no lies, and I think that includes lying to myself. How about you?"
"I like you, Jonathan."
"Feeling's mutual, Monica."
"Please. Fuck you."

Rereading with my lovely Canaries:)

WOW. This series completely blew me away! This was my first “novella series” and I was very hesitant to start... in only 100 pages, how much can you really connect with the characters? Well boy, was I ever wrong! I wish more authors wrote in installments like this. I enjoyed every book, connected with all the characters and was completely ADDICTED to this series.
The books center around our main character, Monica, a struggling musician and waitress.
My name is Monica, and I am not submissive. I stand six feet tall in heels. I am descended from one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. I can sing like an angel, and growl like a lion. I am not owned. I am music.

One night she spills a drink, looses her job, and meets a gorgeous red-headed billionaire. It all starts with a simple kiss on the hood of his car, and leads to much, much more.
The tall, pretty waitress and the kinky billionaire –what a cliché, right? As Darren said : “It’s a cliché of a cliché.” But it’s a cliché done WELL. With fantastic characters, heeps of drama, conniving exes, Steamy (with a capital S!) sex scenes, beautiful writing, you could not go wrong with these books!
Sorry Gideon, James, Christian, scoot over and make room for my new favourite kinky billionare: Sir Mr. Jonathan Drazen
“The minute I told you to spread your legs and you did it, you were mine. When I told you to beg for it and you did, you were mine. When you put your hands behind your back without being told, I owned you.”

“When this ice cube melts, I’m going to make love to you so slow, everyone in this hotel is going to know my name. It won’t be play. It’s going to be dead serious.”

The writing was unbelievable. MIND-BLOWING! The fact that the author can convey so many emotions, so much character development and such a skillfully twisted plot into such short books shows crazyyy talent. I also loved the way she incorporated music and sounds into her writing.
“That smell mixed with the scent of getting tied up and fucked became the smell of complete release, of an orchestra connected by the simple movements of a skilled conductor.”

Their relationship started out as purely sex and a good time, but progressed into so much more. Jonathan: a man with a past that haunts him, claimed he’d never truly love again. Monica: a woman who had sworn off men completely. Together they find themselves undeniably bound to each other. He wanted control and when she finally committed to him, her submission was beautiful. Both such strong characters, their journey was an intriguing and unforgettable one.
“God,' he said, 'I have to have you.'
'Take me. Own me. Use me. Pick a verb. Just please.'
'Fuck you. I'm going to fuck you. That's my verb.”

In books like this it is so easy to go wrong with the female lead. Kudos to CD Reiss for giving us a strong, independent, smart and opinionative heroine! I loved Monica! Their chemistry together was through the roof, and as their relationship progressed and became a meaningful, intense, yet still respectful, their connection grew stronger. Their love was beautiful but never was it easy; as they deal with the all the forces pulling them apart and telling them they shouldn't be together, they learn to be true to themselves and never be ashamed of what makes you, you.
“This is us together. I own it. This body is my plaything. Your ache is mine. Your orgasm is mine. Your hunger is mine. Your dirty thoughts are mine.”

“I’m yours. My pleasure is yours. My wet pussy is yours. You own me, Jonathan. You are the master of my fuck.”

“What we have isn’t something we made. It’s something that existed before we even met.”

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this amazing series. Definitely adding this to my favorites shelf!
And on a side note, how gorgeous are those covers and titles?! C.D. Reiss is an author to look out for, and I will be stalking her page for upcoming releases!

Jonathan and Monica meet while she's serving him drinks and gets pushed from behind spilling his drink all over him. Of course, this leads to her getting fired but Jonathan puts in a good word for her in another club. It's no surprise that he just "happens" to show up at that club while she's working.

Jonathan is an interesting character...and not because he's rich or gorgeous but that he's tortured. His hearts been broken and he doesn't think he can love anyone else. Having his POV would've been priceless!

Monica is the complete opposite...trying to break into the music world and waitressing just to get by. But it's not Jonathan's money she's drawn to.

description

These two are off the charts hot and wouldn't you know it? Jonathan's a dominant as well. Jonathan and Monica really remind me of Damien and Nikki from The Stark Trilogy.

There's some great secondary characters, namely Monica's roommate, Gabby, and her brother, Darren, who was Monica's first love. They are also members of the band so quite involved in each other lives.

This story ends the morning after a great night for Jonathan and Monica when Jonathan gets a call from his ex-wife. It definitely leaves you wondering what in the hell is going on!

♦ FYI, these stories are short and most have some type of cliffhanger. You will probably want the next one or two ready!

So this book is about a musician named Monica Faulkner that lives in LA. She is singing and working as a waitress at a rooftop bar at Hotel K, and upscale hotel owned by the sexy, charming, billionaire playboy Jonathan Drazen. One night while serving drinks at her job Monica spills her tray of drinks on Mr. Drazen & ends up getting fired by her immediate boss. Jonathan feels bad & helps her get a job at another club. He continues to show up at her new job and persue her. Monica has her hands full with her various friends and bandmates & also is busy rehearsing & performing. She had a bad break up that has her avoiding men. The last relationship got in the way of her music career. Men are just trouble & she really just wants to keep things simple in her life & go after her dreams of hitting it big & becoming a star. Unfortunately Jonathan & his gorgeous self is hard to resist. He is drop dead beautiful & persistent & has decided he wants Monica. They propose a little bet as a joke & things get interesting.

This was a quick, hot read & I REALLY enjoyed it! No shame, I would totally beg for Jonathan too! Nothing like a hot redhead with green eyes! Yum!!! ;)))

 photo 3c7df23b-ba8f-4f8d-90a2-0efebc4458df.jpg

-Drazen was my boss's boss. He owned the hotel.

-He had red hair cut just below the ears, disheveled in that absolutely precise way. He wore jeans and a grey shirt that showed off his broad shoulders and hard biceps.

-He was gorgeous, no doubt. I could write songs about that face, those cheekbones, those eyes, that dry scent.

-He looked up at me, all green eyes and messy red hair.

-I couldn't be in the same room with him without feeling like I needed to touch him.

-Shit. I had an evening of wild sex planned with a rich womanizer who liked cute broke chicks.

-Bottom line: He was hot, he was charming, and he didn't want anything out of me but the same thing I wanted.

This book is the beginning of a series of eight stories. I believe the author calls them "serials" and this one had about 120 pages to it. I have to say that I was disappointed in the story for various reasons. The first one being that I wasn't sold on the hero or the heroine. Monica is a singer for her band called, Spoken Not Stirred. Her band is not yet successful; but she hopes to one day become a star. One of her band members is her friend Gaby, who suffers from serious depression. Gaby has even gone as far as attempted suicide at one point in her life. Monica and bandmate Darren keep watch on her and help her with taking her medication. This is all good, but Monica decides to abandon her friend one night, all in the name of getting laid. Sorry, but that just struck me as selfish and rude, so that rubbed me the wrong way immediately. Then we have the "hero" who unfortunately is a red head!LOL I suppose that is not fair to red headed men out there; however I am more partial to dark headed heroes and sometimes blondes! For some reason, I can't seem to wrap my head around him being a red head! (that sounds terrible) On top of that, Jonathan Drazen may be a rich, head of the company playboy; but I wasn't sold. He just seemed a little too wishy washy for my taste. I like more of a take charge type of guy, and he didn't come across that way most of the time. He was more shy at times, and then all of a sudden during a sex scene he would try to become controlling. It was too much of a contrast for me to fully by that he could pull off the alpha male characteristic. Maybe I have been spoiled, as there are some very well written alpha's out there, so when one comes along that is just--ok; then I am not hooked.
I found myself more intrigued by the secondary characters and what was going on with them than the leads! For that reason, I may pick up the second serial to see if I get some answers about Gaby.
I can honestly say that I am not in a mad rush to do so though, but if I ever get in the mood I will.

One thing I will say, is that the writing was well done. This is why I gave the book three stars. I found the writing to be smooth, and have some great descriptive qualities to it. C.D. Reiss is most definitely an author I would try again if she decides to write in the future.

4 Hot Jonathan Drazen Stars!!

Wow! That was fast!

Okay. God knows that me and these billionaire books out there just don't mesh well. From Mr. Grey, to Mr. Cross to Mr. Cavendish, you name it, I couldn't even finish any of it. So I wasn't expecting much when I started reading Beg. Surprise, surprise, I actually liked it!

I won't do a full review. A lot has been said about how lovely and wonderful this book is from other reviewers. I wholeheartedly agree. A very promising start. I loved Jonathan Drazen, being a ginger and all and Monica was no shrinking violet. Loved both of them!

Now onto the second book...♥♥♥

Favorite Quote

"Where did you learn to do that?"
"Los Angeles High School of Performing Arts," I said. "They taught me how to open my throat to sing. Then Kevin Wainwright taught me how to put his dick down it."
He laughed. "I'd like to thank LA Unified and Kevin Whatever for this moment."
