This book had so much potential I really liked the storyline but...... I don't know there is something in the way JB writes her main leads that I just don't like I always feel let down and dissatisfied like something is missing. I don't know but maybe it's the lack of feeling true love from the main leads towards their counterparts there is just no real emotion it's seems to be about sex, I love dark angsty male leads but I like to also feel with them when they start falling in love but with JB her books just don't have that feel to them. Another disappointing book for me.
I couldn't believe that this book was written by the same author who wrote the series the Last "Whoring" Riders, this book was a step up from the other series.
The Female lead was ok, the Male lead worked on my nerves at times.
Overall, this book was not as bad as the author's other series.
So this is the first book from Jaime Begley introducing her idea of the afterlife, gods, and demigods. You may ask yourself what does that have to do with The Last Rider's? Well, if you remember throughout the series we're introduced to three Appalachian families with ties to the Native Americans and the afterlife. That being the Porters, the Hayes, and especially the Coleman's who are the descendents from the gods making them demigods. It's all really confusing and actually reading everything else in the series first before the three books in this series may have a better understanding for you. You'll see mention of Fate, Destiny, Mother Nature, and Father Time mentioned throughout the whole of Jamie Begley's series. This series we meet all the gods and their children particularly Fate's three daughters who were cast into the mortal realm by a witch. Which I'm guessing put them in Kentucky? The geography is unclear. Here each will meet their mortal mate (who are actually not mortal, but they don't know that) and be taken back to the immortal realm. Are you confused even more? 😂 Anyways, I thought this was good and I enjoyed Cara and Jericho's characters. I don't agree with the low reviews. But there is a lot here and not a lot written to give the reader a better understanding. So, even though Cara and Jericho's HEA had almost zero angst, the next two books not so much as cheating is pretty much involved I think? 🤔 To be determined.
Just wanted to add the publication date for this book was 2011, and 2013 for Razer's Ride. The other two books in this series seem to coincide with other releases of The Last Rider's.

This was like a mythology smorgasbord with all the potential deities and all sorts of saints thrown into a blender, along with some demigods. Very strange but a compelling read.
Really, really liked seeing this other side of Jamie Begley! I am a HUGE fan of all of her other work & love that she has a paranormal/mythological streak in her because those are some of my favorite kinds of romance stories.
That said, even though I became very entranced with the gods, the goddesses, the saints & other magical beings, I didn't fall in love with the main characters, Jericho & Cara. I actually liked Cara but Jericho was kinda "blah" for me. I just didn't feel that bright spark, that oh-my-gods-they-were-totally-meant-to-be-together-forever kind of chemistry that I was jonesn' for & that was disappointing.
I'm not happy that the sisters were separated at the beginning (I mean, no one wants to see those girls suffer, am I right?) but I'm super curious to find out what happened to the other two. I'm a little nervous because I heard that Broni's guy is a cheating, manwh*re but I'm still looking forward to their story sometime in the future. And dang, that sneak peek into Zerina's book at the end... Poor, girl.
Side Note: Dude, Jericho... You NEVER say your future mother-in-law is the most beautiful woman you've ever seen. Never. That title should belong to your woman, Cara.
I'm a huge fan of Jamie Begley's MC series and I don't know how I missed this series but I'm glad I found it. This book was so interesting and if you like the different Norse and Greek Gods then you would love this story. Cara is the daughter of Fate and gets sent into the human world on Earth by her mother's enemy. She is a character with a lot of strength to go through so many trauma's. Jericho is a troubled soul that is fighting is way through life and you can't help but bleed for him and all he has gone through. This story was super intense and you get sucked into the plot line and the different story lines going on. I love the blending of the different God's and learning about Fate and Destiny and the huge part they play in the world. My only real "complaint" is that if you didn't know about the different Gods and such, then this story would be extremely confusing and for quite a bit of the beginning I was lost and it took some chapters to find my feet on who the different characters were. Other than that great story and fun start to a series.
Another great read by Jamie Begley! With characters like the Moirae, Fate, Destiny, Mother Nature, Chronos, Merlin, Odin and Thor, then through in the humans, what a great story. Fate has a way of putting into situations of not or own choosing but it's ours none the less. Fate is not a choice it's what it is. Cara is one of Fates daughters who is attacked and forced into the human realm with no powers and totally human, she meets Jericho, a man who has a black soul due to the abuse forced into him by his adopted parents and years of tragedy has turned his once bright soul black. Cara needs Jericho’s help to survive and Jericho gets help from Fate, Mother Nature, Destiny and a werewolf named Rocque to find out what love is and helped him keep Cara alive. Finding out he is a demigod also helped in keeping Cara and Jericho together after she is brought back home with Thors help. Looking forward to the next book in the series Soul of A Woman: The Dark Souls book 2.
I'll be honest in the beginning I found this rather confusing there was so many characters introduced in a few pages and just actually contemplated putting it down but I'm glad I didn't. This is nothing like I've read before and was gripping. There was action throughout and it turned out to be a beautiful love story. I cannot wait to start book two. 5 stars
Why do I get the feeling this a was a test run for what was to come i regret no reading that a series sooner I'm hooked on to the next adventure you my dear Lady are by far my favorite person ever
I liked this book. I saw a lot of people didn't have very nice things to say, but I thought it was fresh and different from so many of the romance books out there. I loved the use of gods, goddesses, Fate, Destiny, etc. I'm on to book #2 :)
Not my usual kind of read but I am a big fan of this authors work so that I would give it a try. I enjoyed it. Not like her other books but still a good read. I'm not one for otherworldly reads but it kept me reading to see what would happen next.
I was turned off at first by the idea of Fate, Destiny, Mother Nature and Father Time, but wow! The way the either told this story was fantastic! Now, I am so looking forward to reading the rest of this series!
Soul of a Man is a short fun story, I loved how the author took all the different deities and put them into one big immortal world, Grimm, Reaper, Thor, Mother Nature, Moriai just to name a few. I liked it. I can't wait to see what happen next. Happy Reading 📚
Was not expecting this at all from Jamie. But man what a twist. I'm very glad that the Coleman and Greer line brought one of my favorite authors to the fantasy genre I love. Can't wait for more.
Pretty decent story but in some ways felt a bit rushed, but I guess that's to be expected since it's a short book that had to squeeze in some sex scenes. Hated the way Jericho's life had to go for him to get to Cara, but it was still a pretty good story.
It was a great read. I loved the twist on the story line between Gods & mortals. It's well worth the read. Love this authors other series too. Rated very good
