A Secret Fate

Rate this book
"Well, fate was cruel, wasn't it?"

Cael and Addison’s fate has taken an unexpected turn.

Gerry, Addie and Cael almost captured Careen’s murderer only to lose Cael in the battle—a battle that nearly cost him his life. But despite his survival, he faces a new challenge, thanks to Gerry's handiwork: will Cael remember Addie or is their love lost with him?

Addie’s family and friends think she should keep the relationship a secret from Cael so he isn't forced into feelings he can't remember. Just what she needs, more secrets and on top of everything else, someone stole the crystal. How is she supposed to get over the loss of her lover, a lover she'd barely had for only a few short months and deal with the secret of the lost crystal at the same time?

Aiden wants nothing more than to help Addie overcome her grief and get over Cael. Or is that all he wants? What happens when too many people know the secret and someone slips up?

Susan Griscom, writes paranormal and contemporary romance. She's hooked on gritty romances and is a huge fan of superheroes and bad boys confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers, and abilities beyond the norm mixed with steamy romance, of course.

She loves those days when she gets to sit around in her sweat pants, doing nothing but writing emotionally charged stories about love and violence and drinking coffee.

She lives in Northern California with her romantic husband and together they have five great superhero kids and eight mini-superhero grand kids, so far.

I have been looking forward to this book for ages and was so excited when it was finally released! I love the characters so much and the only thing I'm sad about is the ending is so well tied up in the epilogue that I don't think there will be anymore books in the series! Still, so much happened and was revealed in this book and I loved the ending that Addie and Cael got!
I wish he could have regained all his memories but he didn't need them cause he and Addie are meant to be and even without the memories he was still instantly drawn to her and fell in love with her all over again!
Enjoyed this book so much, even if Aiden annoyed me by pursuing Addie, though it shows that he was never right for her when he got over her so quickly and got infatuated at the end with a newly introduced character! Still he did right in the end so while I still don't like him that much, I don't hate him anymore!
I really recommend picking up this series if you haven't already!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book. After reading Whisper Cape and Reflections I was anxious to find out what happened with Cael and Addie and Maia and Gerry. Reflections ended with a cliffhanger so I just had to know where Cael went and if he made it back to Addie.
This book didn't disappoint. Cael was just as swoon-worthy as he was in the last two books. Maia and Gerry were just as cute as always. There was a lot of mystery and suspense as in the other two books. And the ending was satisfying and wrapped everything up nicely.
I highly recommend this series. They are hot, sexy reads with heart-pumping suspense and a great mystery!

Oh, it's so bittersweet... I have been following Addie and Cael's tale since day one when Susan reached out to me (as Regan) and asked if I'd be interested in reading Whisper Cape. At that time, it was one of the best books I had read and I instantly developed a serious book boyfriend crush on Cael. That didn't change through the utter enjoyment of Reflections, and now that the series has come to a conclusion, I don't know if I want to laugh at the amazing ride, or cry because it's over.

A Secret Fate is another highly emotional read. Picking up after the intense conclusion of Reflections, we get to follow Addie and Cael through separate stories initially while they're separated, sharing in Addie's grief and heartbreak and the developing relationship between she and Aiden, and joining Cael for some fun in the sun while he struggles with his missing memory.

When their paths finally overlap again, it's...intense. There are some serious secrets being kept, a bit of jealousy over a love triangle that really isn't a love triangle, a super sweet (and yes, erotic!) romance as Cael and Addie relearn each other, and a highly action packed sub-story with unusual outcomes.

I really enjoyed the ride, and if you're a WHISPER CAPE series follower, you most certainly have to read this to wrap things up.

I only have 1 critique as a reader. I sort of feel like this book might have been told better as 2 novellas and a full length novel. It may have had more impact if the separation and eventual rejoining was told as a short, with the re-kindling of the couple's romance, the parallel story of Gerry & Maia's twins being born, and the action packed sub-plot I mentioned above being told as the full length, and then the skip into the future, prologue and conclusion of the series being told as a follow-up novella. I just think it might have made things flow slightly better and allowed for some additional detail in areas where it wasn't possible here without making the book really, really long. Even with that said though, I was still invested throughout A Secret Fate and didn't find myself wishing it would hurry along at any point. I did wish for a bit more in areas, but never to a point where I was frustrated about it.

I have loved this series from the very beginning and I am sad to see the series ending. Addie and Cael are such a fantastic couple, but I have a soft spot for Maia and Gerry too. Who doesn't love a hot and loving Scotsman?

A Secret Fate continues right where Reflections left off and I was able to find out what happened after the cliffhanger that ripped my heart out. I won't give anything away because trust me you will want to read it for yourself. I will say that this book has a lot of steamy Cael scenes that I couldn't get enough of, mystery and a few surprises. Susan has drawn me into Whisper Cape and it has become a part of me. I laughed and cried in this book, but I walk away from the series feeling a beautiful sense of closure to the series. I will miss my handsome, sexy Cael!!

I highly recommend the entire Whisper Cape Series. A Secret Fate is a great finale to a sweet and sexy series!!

Wow! A Secret Fate is the perfect ending to a wonderful series! I am totally in love with Caddie (my name for the ship of Addie and Cael) and was so so pleased that everything worked out for them in the end. Although Cael never fully regains his memories, i love the way Addie was able to show him what he had missed through the crystal. I loved their kids, Maddi and Shane, and would have loved to know a bit more about Gerry and Maia's twin girls, i hope Susan writes a spin off surrounding these marvelous gifted children! Oh and i love the fact Addie wrote a book about them! The Whisper Cape trilogy will forever go onto my list of favourite paranormal romance series! If you haven't made a visit to Whisper Cape, what the hell are you waiting for?

I am so sad to see the end of Cael and Addie's story! I was very impressed with this book though! Cael has lost 5 years of his life and this means he doesn't remember Addie. When he finally makes his way home he finds that many things have changed. His family and Addie make the decision to not tell him about his love of Addie and instead we see him working his way towards loving her again. Addie suffers horribly because of his loss of memory but they will soon come back together as they are fated to be together. Cael suffers in his own way with desire, jealousy, anger and fear. He never does get his memory back but he eventually gets to experience all of his past with Addie through the crystal. Of course along the way his father comes back into his life and this brings with it things that will change his life forever. As the book closes we are 7 years into the future. I really want to tell you what those 7 years have brought to Addie and Cael and the rest of their family but I can't because it will seriously spoil the book for you! I can tell you that it is a great way to show us the love Addie and Cael have established. I am really hoping that I get see Aiden in another book all of his own. Along with some of the members of Cael's family. I would also love to see Breena with a story of her own. I would love to see it all happen in Whisper Cape (I am an Oregon girl of course), but I would settle for someplace else as long as they get a story! Thank you Susan for a great love story! It makes a person think "what would happen if I lost the memory of my true love? would I be able to fall in love with them all over again?" Hopefully I will never have to find this out!

They went through some ups and downs as there were some memories no one should have to relive the pain off and of course Cael had lost some loved ones in the last five years (which was how far his memory loss went back) and had to relive the pain of hearing they were dead all over again, but he also got to make new memories with Addie.

I won't say the other surprises Cael got as it will spoil things for people who haven't read the book yet and they definitely caused some turmoil for Cael but he dealt with them and they weren't all bad! It really was a perfect ending to the trilogy though I'd love if we got to visit Whisper Cape again in the future!

I really recommend picking up this series if you haven't already!

**Edit** I Love the audio of this book too! It was a different narrator from the last too, a man instead of a woman, but I loved the accents he used for the characters.

Loved this series!!

I'm silently kicking myself for not starting book two right after I finished book one and it wasn't like you could stop right after reading the second book... Not with that cliffhanger. The story only got better. A Secret Fate was a perfect ending to the series, which I would not consider a definite favorite of mine now.

I've never been a big Paranormal fan but it is with reading books like the Whisper Cape series I've changed my tune. I'm now a fan.

With all the likeable characters, fascinating powers/abilities, mystery and danger, I'm sad to see it end. I'm so glad I read it. Fantastic read!

This was by far my favorite of the Whisper Cape Trilogy. I am saddened by the fact it is over. Maybe if we beg enough we can get more Addison and Cael. The last book left in such a gut wrenching cliffhanger. This book picked up exactly where the last left off. I thought I was going to cry through this whole book. From the first page I was on the edge of my seat. Hoping and praying for Addie and Cael. Each page made me more anxious about the next. I couldn’t put it down. I needed to get to the end to find out what happened and I read it in just a few hours. Please please give us some more from these characters!

A Secret Fate by Susan Griscom is the final book in the Whisper Cape trilogy. Reflections (book 2) ended with a major cliffhanger and I had to read A Secret Fate as soon as possible because I needed to know what happened next.
The story was well written and interesting. The plot flowed smoothly and had some twists
and turns. There was a lot of action and suspense. And the characters were amazing.
I was really happy with how the series ended and I really loved getting to know the characters.
I would definitely recommend this book to fans of paranormal romantic thrillers.
