These topical guides will deal with issues that women wrestle with God's Will, Living in Christ, Prayer, and Worry. Reaching an audience across race, socio-economic, denominational, and age boundaries, these guides will enhance the lives of women in America as they empower them in their weekly devotions. The study guides can be used for both individual and group settings. Women are asking good questions about their faith. With our study guides, we want to join them in their quest for knowledge and lead them in finding the answers they are seeking.
A good guided course for a group of women, this walked through some pretty regular topics and hardships everyone seems to have on their shoulders. The questions and discussions sometimes seemed to get off topic, but we were never lacking for discussion options.
Meh. It was definitely better than my last devotional. That having been said, it only had twelve "lessons" in it, they were all relatively long so if you're a pretty busy person (and given the topic, I'm guessing a lot of readers will be pretty busy people) it's tricky to devote ALL the necessary time to it. Like far too many devotionals, it spends far too much time on (only sometimes somewhat related) personal anecdotes. Also, it doesn't really delve into what the bible says, it just kind of sets you up with a ton of bible verses to look up and think about. I'm not really a fan of the "bible verse scavenger hunt" at the end of a devotional because I spend so much time looking for the next verse that I'm not really focusing on what each verse says. I'd prefer an in depth look at a segment of the bible--I would prefer several consecutive bible verses rather than a single verse from several different books or chapters. That having been said, it was fine. It was adequately written, and the messages were always of comfort. I might have gotten more out of it if I had more time to devote to it each day, so maybe someday, once I'm through with school, I'll come back and reread it.
Women of Faith I'm still reading this and only on the 1st lesson, but so far it has caught my interest I'm reading it from a free PDF download that I got when I bought KJV Sisters in Faith Holy Bible.
My disappointment though, is I thought this would be in KJV and it is not, which before I read one more word of this, it lowers my rating automatically.
I'm only on the second lesson in this Bible study. I appreciated the fact that this had me read (re-read rather) the accounts in the Gospels of Mary and Martha. Martha was quite involved with her work and a worrywart...Mary worshipped. I think I am more of a Martha...and I would like to be more like Mary.
This was written as a 12 step study, although I read it straight through. While it had great advice and tips in each chapter for each separate emotion, it almost seems like it would be better to read the chapter that corresponds to the way you feel at the time. It also includes a leader's guide, so you can do it as you see fit.
This was a really good bible study book. We did two chapters at a time and I found there were a lot of great readings, reflections and thought-starters. Regardless of the season of life you are in, anyone can find peace in the words this book offers. I highlighted so much and wrote down many of the readings to reference again in the future.
Read this book with my bible study group. I really liked the daily reading and exercises not meant to stress me out. I also like the Q & A discussions, trinkets to treasure, and scripture references. Good book for small group discussions.
This was really written for a 12-week group study (I think), but I read it straight through. It was a Kindle freebie one day, and was a nice little inspirational read.
