A Farmer to Call Home

Rate this book
City boy wants to escape the unfulfilling corporate life he finds himself trapped in. Farm boy wants something to his name that is his and no-one else’s. Little do they know that the only thing in the way of their goals, is each other.

Alex, from boardroom to barnyard

Alex, a corporate ladder-climber with a soft spot for his Grandpa's old farm, decides to trade his leather briefcase for a farmer's straw hat when he’s offered the opportunity to take over the family farm from his retiring grandfather. His first encounter is a collision course with Tom—the ruggedly handsome farmhand with a disposition as unyielding as the land he tends. Their friction is palpable, as fiery as their glaring differences, yet beneath it simmers a shared love for this patch of earth they're now bound to protect. All the while, he's drawn to the magnetic pull of Tom's stubborn resilience.

Tom, from farmhand to foreman

Tom is a man of steadfast dedication, and has been the silent backbone of George's farm for over a decade. When he was promised the opportunity to take the reins when George eventually retired a few years ago, he envisioned a future with a steady place to call home. But Alex's arrival changed everything. Both men initially clash, yet a common understanding stirs beneath it all. Alex's passion for the farm—this land that Tom felt was slipping from his grasp—ignites a latent fire within him. An undeniable chemistry sizzles between them. If they can manage to weather their own stubbornness, they might sow something extraordinary in these fertile fields—perhaps even a love as enduring as the land itself.

This was nice until the MCs had sex for the first time. They tiptoed around each other for days, trying to find a way to work together at the farm, then one morning, after Tom fell in the shower, they have sex. The next day, Tom tells Alex it's better they don't have sex again because he's not out and he doesn't know how his family will react (he's got a lot of sibling but they're not very close); Alex doesn't agree, he wants more but Tom is adamant to leave it at that.
After a fair they return home and have full sex.

I don't know, the writing wasn't flowing, it felt stiff and forced, the sex talk was akward (Tom calls Alex a slut 5 seconds after kissing him, Alex saying "you're such a bottom"), I gave up after Tom shouted "I'm cumming in you".

GAH I wanted to enjoy this so much but it was just bad y'all.

I think if the writing was improved upon and the plot wasn't so rushed and not corny then this would have been a good book. The smut was *top tier* (could have been longer scenes but the writing itself was good ((which is why GAY authors should be writing about GAY sex lmao)))

I liked the main characters, and their little rivalry at first was cute - but the story progresses way too fast and sadly this was just not for me.

I will continue to read more of this authors work though if he continues to write, I think there's definitely room for improvement :)
