New Testament Theology: Exploring Diversity and Unity

Rate this book
In this systematic, book-by-book exploration of the theology of each New Testament writing, Frank J. Matera explores theological diversity and unity in the writings of the New Testament. After an introduction to the history and method of New Testament theology, he explains and describes the theologies of the Synoptic, Pauline, and Johannine traditions, as well as the rich theology of other New Testament Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles, and the book of Revelation. Integrating both Protestant and Catholic approaches, this work provides students, pastors, and scholars a comprehensive view of the New Testament that is rich in exegetical and theological insight.

Among the many books on the topic of
NT theology, one of the best. Though written by a Catholic scholar, the book itself reflects a thoughtful integration of the most updated Protestant and Catholic works in theology and biblical studies. As crystal clear as all would expect from anything written by Matera.

Frank Matera provides a refreshing look at New Testament theology. Being a Catholic, Matera treats the texts in a fair way allowing each of the main voices to speak to both the unity and diversity of the New Testament. The depth of the work is complimented by easiness of reading. Besides seminarian students, any student of the New Testament texts maybe surprised how skillfully Matera summarized main themes of the texts.
