Puzzled at the discovery of an incinerated body in the middle of a recreation ground, Detective Inspector Jonathan Reid contacts Elizabeth McCarthy, for her opinion. Many believe Elizabeth to be the village witch, but when she tells him that the remains are those of a local vampire, he finds the idea as laughable as it is preposterous. However, as time passes, Reid becomes embroiled in McCarthy's strange world, only to realise the true potential of her Pagan religion, and to start believing that vampires do actually exist in the locality. The battle is on.McCarthy has noticed that the wildlife has migrated away from the village. This throws her belief on Mother Nature, and her arts, into question, and she seeks to find the reason behind it.Conversely, the local Nosferatu colony believes that she has used her powers to disrupt their inbuilt time clock, thus, causing them to perish as dawn breaks.Believing they can force her to reverse the damaging spell against them, the Nosferatu capture both Reid and McCarthy. But McCarthy has done no such thing, so she forms an alliance with the Nosferatu, in an effort to combat this strange Quirk, which appears to have cast a harmful, and potentially life-threatening shift in the delecate fabric of the village framework.
