My Review:
What a pleasant surprise. This story was excellently crafted, well written, well-paced, enthralling, clever, and steamy. A perfect read for an indulgent afternoon. This is the first time I have stumbled across this author, but I am feeling ever so greedy and want more. Her writing is immensely entertaining, easy to follow, and richly detailed. In fact it is so well detailed that I had a movie reel running in my head. I rarely give out 5 star ratings, but considering the quality of her writing, 5 stars doesn’t seem to be enough.
Although Jordan's a lawyer in her father's law firm, she needs to escape. After catching her fiancé kissing another woman, Jordan goes in search of a strange inheritance. A beat up Victorian Mansion in a sleepy little town in Colorado. When she meet the men restoring the mansion to a bed and breakfast, Brandon flips a switch in her. She's fascinated by him in all kinds of naughty ways. When she starts finding the mansions secrets and finds the journal of the original owner of the mansion, it's only Brandon that she trusts with her secrets. This was a great story by Ms. Foster. VERY Romantic and a little naughty. The characters are familiar and I always love a sassy girl that doesn't let anyone push her around.
This one has a bit of a twist to it but it brings another couple together with a bit of family history to go with it. A couple of bad people but all the positives are wonderful and the writing is great.
Book was provided by the author for an honest review. This book starts out with Jordanna Olivia Whitman, a NY attorney, partner in her father's firm, preparing for her wedding day. Her fiance is a handsome young man named Andrew, also an attorney at the same firm. Jordan, as she's called by all her friends, had made arrangements for she and Andrew to spend some of their wedding bliss time in Colorado, where Jordan has inherited an old B&B from a late great aunt.
Just before Jordan's wedding to Andrew, the unthinkable happens to her. How does Jordan handle the situation? She continues onward to Colorado alone to lick her wounds and delve into renovating this 100+ year old B&B, with the help of her bff Jeni. Right off the bat I just want to say this, I LOVE Jordan's character! Just in the first few chapters I was drawn to her strength and ingenuity!
When Jordan gets to Nederland, CO, a small mountain town, she has the plan of just staying there long enough to get the B&B fixed up, and people hired to run it for her, so she can go back to her life in NY. She figures the couple of months that it will take will give her enough time to think her issues through and face her family and colleagues once again. Well, that totally doesn't happen! If it did, the book would have been a yawn, and I wouldn't be pissing myself with the excitement it's brought to me!
When Jordan arrives at the old house she is greeted by three hot dudes, Jack, Brandan, and Miles. They are a construction crew, Jack being the contractor. Brandan and Miles are his foremen. The men were sent there by Callie, Jack's wife, and the realtor that Jordan had been talking with about the property. When Jordan arrives the crew is already in motion fixing the electrical issue in the house for her, since it had been abandoned for many years, and was no longer functional. As the weeks go by, Jordan discovers so much more than she bargained for. As she is exploring the house and grounds, Brandan, one of the hot foremen, gives her a little bit of history on the place that he knows, and is very kind and generous with helping her as much or as little as she wants.
One of the parts of the book I love is that it's not just about Jordan renovating an old house. Jordan is just one layer of the story being told. Being a child of privilege, she has only ever known the proper and finer things in life. No fun was had, only hard work, to please her father. Then you put her in a small town far away from her friend Jeni and family, and she ends up feeling more at home there than she ever had in NY. While she is there, she meets Brandan, who was dealt a crappy hand as a child with his parents. He's the total opposite of what his exterior is; he's soft, gentle, caring, and sympathetic. He knows how to comfort women, very well apparently, which gets him into some sticky situations. You put these two people together, from two different worlds, and they fit, like hand and glove, but neither one is capable of handling a true, real relationship. So they settle for friendship, as together they discover the house's secrets, and try to solve the puzzle laid before them.
Another layer of the book that I loved was the idea of Jordan inheriting this awesome old house. This is a dream of mine, personally, to buy an old house, that has great bones, but needs cosmetic work done. The history and nostalgia gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. I would love to bring an old house back to its former glory, and let it shine with pride! This aspect of the book just sang to me! Getting to reconstruct the house with Jordan, and read about doors being uncovered, painting, and decorating was so much fun, to live vicariously through Jordan was just such a treat!
The story that unfolds during the book with the journals that Jordan finds is also so exhilarating! Jordan works long and hard researching and trying to find the missing pieces to the puzzle. All the while, getting closer and closer to Brandan. Having said that, the story doesn't lack danger. Uncovering the old family secret comes at a cost to both Jordan and Brandan. One that neither of them ever expected or anticipated. That's what I mean about the layers, it has twists and turns, this is not a straight road. You, me, Jordan, Brandan, we don't see what's coming straight ahead right away, and that's what makes the book so wonderful. I just had a total Lifetime Movie of the Week girlie moment, tee hee..... This book has the three things I love the most, romance, suspense, and danger! If someone isn't getting shot at, beat up, or laid, I don't like it! So if you're like me, you will LOVE this book!
★✩★✩★ 4- Thunder on the Mountain Indeed! -Stars ~this review may contain minor spoilers~
“This is his fault! You will not share an ounce of guilt, do you hear me?” “It's not guilt, it's self doubt and anger and disbelief and stupidity in not seeing. What if I had married him? And the questions keep coming. How long has it been going on? Who is she? What did he want from me? But I can't seem to get away from, How could I have been so stupid?”
Jordan Whitman was dealt the ultimate betrayal weeks before her wedding. In an effort to escape from having to deal with the fallout of a canceled wedding, she decides a much needed break from the grind of New York is in order and heads off to the B & B she recently inherited in Colorado. She is unsure of what she was expecting, but it is definitely not the rundown, dilapidated manor she shows up at. Determined to restore the historic building back to it's original glory, she immediately gets to work and brings in a construction crew... that is when she meets him.
Brandan Webb has never had any interest in any kind of relationship beyond sex until he meets the new owner of the building he is working on. He feels a connection to her he can't explain and for once he wants to see where it goes. Convincing her of that may be harder than he anticipated; considering the betrayal she suffered, Jordan is reluctant to trust anyone and doesn't see herself opening up to another man anytime soon. But discovering a secret room together, and exploring all the secrets within, brings them closer than either could have imagined as they try to get to the bottom of the mystery now in front of them.
His concern was touching, and I wondered if he was offering more than comfort. It had been a long time since I'd felt butterflies at a man's touch, but it didn't matter, it wasn't going to happen.
This book had a very whimsical quality to it, to the point that it was almost unbelievable at times; but I think if you go into this with an open mind and agree to stretch your imagination a bit, you will enjoy it. The characters were easy enough to like and the story moved at a good pace, there was minimal drama, and a sugary sweet romance at the heart of everything, but what really drew me in was the mystery. The further these two dug, the more questions they had ~ that aspect of the book took on a life of itself, it was like a story within the story and I found myself desperately wanting to find out all they secrets buried in that room. I do have to admit though, the dialogue came across as a bit too proper for me and it made it feel a bit forced, not quite natural, if that makes sense. Of course, that didn't stop me from enjoying the journey, it just took a little getting used to. I also would have like an epilogue of some sort, we leave off kinda apruptly. In the end, I would still recommend this book to anyone who likes their romances on the sweeter side and is looking for an easy, enjoyable read, with mystery woven in all the pages and a touch of magic.
“There's something about minds meshing and souls touching. It's almost like our spirits become one. Don't mean to sound mystical, but I feel like it was always meant to be this way between us, like we've come home.”

This book was gifted to me by the Author - Many thanks Mimi :)
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to the release of book 2 and I have to say I was NOT disappointed! This set of books is a series but in the loosest sense of the word - they are all set in the same town and so far the same ancillary characters appear (although I wish Sam had had more of a role in this book!) - but they can, so far at least, be read as stand-alones.
This book centres on Jordan, a Partner in the family law firm, who discovers that her finance is cheating on her just days before the wedding. With the help of her friend, Jeni, she cancels the whole thing and heads off to Nederland, Colorado to look at a property she has inherited from an aged Aunt. On arrival she meets Brandon,
What transpires from there is a love story, pure and simple but also a mystery that needs to be solved. It's hard to say an awful lot more than that without spoiling it for anyone else BUT Jordan is handy with a knife and she doesn't just use it for whittling like her grandpa taught her.
So if you want a hot, fairly steamy, romance that also has ghosts from the past telling a story that parallels Jordan and Brandon's, with a lot of genealogy thrown in and maybe an attempted murder this really is a book worth reading :)
This book isn't suitable for 17s or under due to the sexual content.
Thunder Struck is Book 2 of the Thunder on the Mountain series by Mimi Foster. All books have been featured on our blog simply because we LOVE THEM! They could be read on their own but I highly recommend you read them all, since the stories are unique, sexy and simply addictive.
On Thunder Struck, we have Jordan. A successful New York lawyer that after suffering a betrayal, finds herself starting over remodeling a Victorian property in a mountain in Colorado. The setting of these books is a character in itself. The incredible town of Nederland, Colorado is inviting and intriguing. Jordan falls in love with her new beginning and it gets even better when she has Mr. Hottie and contractor Brandan remodeling all over the place. There is nothing hotter than a man with tools, and Brandan has all of them! The chemistry between them is exciting and hot. To make the story even better, they find a hidden room that holds a story of a century old love affair. Now with a common goal, Brandan and Jordan embark in a journey full of passion, secrets, family scandals and eternal love. Thunder Struck, like all other volumes of this series is simple amazing. The author keeps you entertained and hooked until the very last page. Get them all TODAY!
I can not even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this book!! Seriously, I think this is one of my favorite books I have read in a really long time. And I read a lot of books. There is no review that I could write that could possibly give this book enough justice. It is simply and truly amazing!! Every single moment and every single page of this book was like Christmas morning. The characters, Jordan and Brandan are two of the most beautifully developed and wonderfully written characters. I just don't even know how to describe my feelings as I was reading this book. I literally sat down to read it last night, fell asleep with it in my hand, and finished it a couple hours ago. I finished it and immediately went and bought the other two books in this series. Again, there is absolutely nothing I could say to begin to describe how absolutely amazing this book is, but I can say that it is a MUST read and one I will be reading many, many times! I can't wait to dive in and read the other two. Ms. Foster you are on my MUST READ ANYTHING YOU WRITE list!! This book deserves way more than 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars!!!
A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review. Review by Tabitha
Jordan was supposed to get married, but one month before the wedding she sees her fiance with another woman. Needing some time away, she decides to go check out and renovate the B&B she inherited from her aunt. While there she finds papers and pictures from the original owners, her ancestors, and she meets Brandon... Brandon Graham being told love would destroy you. Anytime things started getting serious he would end it, until he met Jordan. There's something about her that just seems predestined. As they go through the papers that Jordan found, they find that they have an ancestor in common and decide have a reunion to find out what really happened 120 years ago. But are they inviting evil into their home? This was a great book. I adore this series and the people you meet in it. I already have the next one on my TBR list. I recommend this to anyone who loves sweet romantic stories with a little intrigue.
What a ride this book took me on, and I mean that in a good way. This author has a way if drawing the reader into the story and you find yourself not wanting to put it down. This is the 2nd book in this series but I believe it can be read as a stand alone, the characters from the first book are in this story. This one is about Jordan who is a lawyer in New York and is engaged to be married but finds her fiancée cheating on her. I really liked how she broke up with him. She decides to go to Colorado and check out a home that has been passed on to her by an Aunt. I was really drawn into this story as Jordan starts digging into the past and things start emerging. Sometimes history repeats itself and in this book it does.
First, I need to say that I Loved the 1st book in this series, Thunder Snow. I have been looking forward to reading the 2nd. Once again, Mimi has written an AMAZING STORY! ( Totally different from the 1st book!!! )I could not put this book down! The Best thing about this series; each book is about different characters, so there's no cliffhanger!!! I can't say enough how much I loved this book! I'm looking Forward to the 3RD book in this series....
This book was gifted to me by Mimi Foster. Many, Many, Thanks Mimi!!!!! You are an amazing author and I can't wait to read more.....
This is hot contemporary romance at its best! Very much enjoyed this story! When Jordan sees the betrayal of her fiance, my heart squeezed for her! She quickly leaves town and encounters much more than she bargained for when she takes on an old Victorian B&B and meets Brandan. Loved the clever twists in the plot and the heat between the characters! The addition of the story from past generations made it all the more enjoyable. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
You fall in Love with Jordan (I know I'm spelling that wrong ;) ) from the beginning and then following her life as she goes along is wonderful.. I love how the writer details everything about not only her emotions but each detail in the book. The romance in this book is awesome and makes you feel what she is feeling... And wrapped in with all of that is the suspense and magical aspects it really is one of my favorite books!! I highly recommend this book to anyone!!
Mimi Foster does it again, Thunder Struck is #2 in the Thunder Mountain series but neck and neck with #1 Thunder Snow. Foster has remarkable ability to integrate romance within great story telling. Don't know what comes first the chicken or the egg but with Foster's stories who cares. I give it five stars because I couldn't put it down. Keep them coming Mimi!
What a fabulous "take me away from it all" kind of book! The characters are smart and sexy and I can totally relate to wanting to solve the mystery "of what really happened" when learning more about family history. The details of the house made me want to go there and read another book in the library! Love where these are going! Looking forward to the next book!
Interesting story with the way the present mirrors the past. I love the way Jordan lets everyone, including her cheating ex, that the wedding is cancelled. It was refreshing to see Jordan and Brandan slowly building a relationship without immediately jumping into bed. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Really loved reading this book. You are able to read this as a stand alone or read it after the first one. The characters seem real and the plot realistic. Well written. Was able to read this book in one sitting since it was hard to put down. Hadn't read anything from Mimi Foster and was really impressed with her work!
Wow! This is the first book I've read by Mimi and I'm thoroughly impressed. I love the writing style and the story itself was amazing. This love story with the mystery that unfolds gave you two stories in one and I loved every second of it! Can't wait for the next book!!
Did not enjoy this book as much as I did the first one. I just could not get pass the whole coincidences that kept happening. I also was distracted by the jump from the easy Christian type story to the not so Christian style writing in the bed scenes. I am a fan of both style of writings but prefer one style or the other. The hardest part was trying to keep the whole family tree line straight. I just kept getting lost.
