In the acknowledgements, Di Julio writes, "This isn't a happy story. It's dark and emotional and strange. Definitely not for everyone." Yet, though urban fantasy is not a genre I normally choose, and though I like happy stories, I enjoyed "Inkchanger" very much. I started and finished it in one evening, and would gladly have read more. The characters were interesting and likable, and the imagery beautiful. The lyrics for "The Rose" are now playing in my head: "I say love, it is a flower, And you its only seed."

I recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Ellie Di Julio.

The moment I picked up this book I couldn't put it down. The prose sucks you right in and you absolutely need to know what happens next. Ellie Di Julio does a fantastic job of painting a vivid and lifelike portrayal of her characters as well as describing the scenery. If you haven't read this then you are missing out!
