"Learning sign language is time-consuming, but when it comes to someone I want to get to know better, what's more important is the quality of the conversation."

Not QUITE as exciting as previous volumes, and I think a large part of that is because outside of the opening chapter, there wasn't a huge romantic focus.

Definitely a little bit of a bummer, BUT! I think this volume was very critical for Yuki and Itsuomi moving forward in their relationship, and WHOA!

This is the first time I have seen someone be SO active in getting to know the parents of the person they are dating and get their approval of their relationship! I was extremely touched at the natural lengths Itusomi went through to befriend Yuki's dad, but also how he KNEW something was up and that her dad wanted to talk to him about something important. I also say "naturally" because despite that Yuki's dad wanted to go to certain places with Itsuomi, it really did feel like Itsuomi was the one leading. LOL!

I appreciated getting to know more about Yuki's family as a whole because I think for a long time I didn't like them. When you compare Itsuomi learning sign language to Yuki's family never learning for all the years Yuki's been alive, it doesn't give a positive impression.

However, this volume addressed it and while I'm sad to know they will probably never learn sign language, it also felt realistic from a parent's perspective. And what I mean is that while none of my children have disabilities, as a parent you are constantly making so many small and big decisions a day that sometimes you don't know what is the best thing to do. When you feel it is the right thing to do, but don't have the time or energy, it changes things, whether good or bad. So in that sense, I understood Yuki's parents even if as a reader I didn't necessarily agree with their actions.

One thing that was VERY rewarding was seeing Yuki open up and tell people her real feelings! While I loved her opening up to Itsuomi, even more, I loved seeing her open up to her mom and be able to tell her "thank you." <3

Goodness though! It HURT to hear things about Yuki's brother! I was completely taken aback and had no idea what to even say.

Overall, this isn't my favorite volume of the series but I think it was so beautifully written and very much surprised me! My personal rating would be four stars, but I think this deserves nothing less than five because of me reading nothing like this in other manga. So good!

Bwahah Itsuomi has soooo much personality in this one!

Some of his panels had me CACKLING.

Yuki and he say the mushy words, decide to move in together, and must have him meet her parents before it's official! Their parents are hesitant but with the power of nudity, the father is easily swayed while the mom just wants her daughter to be happy.

And then there's BS with Emma and Shin. I give negative fucks about Emma. GET OVER IT.

The Bromance between Hisa and Itsu👌🏼

Trigger Warnings:FMC hasn’t been able to hear since she was born, ableist side character (FMC’s brother’s ex)

I’m so close to catching up, nooooo. Imma copy and paste the stuff I said in my other review so I can get to spoilers: Our FMC is deaf, I’m not sure if it is a trigger but I have added it just in case. The authors seem to have put a lot of research and the sign language is in Japanese. They have a whole process of how they figure out the sign language aspect of the manga which I found fascinating. The anime did a good job animating the sign language. Especially the different tones, some being soft and graceful while others are harsh and straightforward. I LOVE our FMC Yuki, she knows what she wants and goes for it. And Itsuomi our MMC has so much rizz, the guy is so handsome and dreamy. Some people have mixed thoughts on his actions but I personally think this guy is a walking green flag. They both communicate so there is drama but not as much as other mangas, this is more cute. Please do yourself a favour and watch the anime. Then come back and read the manga so we can fangirl together.


Yuki runs into Itsuomi in the subway and after a helpful interaction, she can’t get him off her mind. When she realizes the guy is someone in her friend’s class, she gets to know him.

Now for spoilers


It was so nice to see these two be openly vulnerable with each other. While Yuki tells Itsu she is afraid to be a burden but wants to live with him, he has tears in his eyes, TEARS BRO. I never thought we would see Itsu crying and it just shows how deeply he cares for Yuki. He was terrified she would break up with him and wants to spend as much time as he can with her. I am a bit worried about him leaving Japan for 2 years, but I can just tell he will find a way to make it work. Yuki feels that even if they have obstacles, it’ll be easy to face together. Yuki notices his tears and turns to her bag to get a handkerchief and Itsu hugs her. As the volumes go on, you see how deep Itsu’s love is for Yuki, she is the only one for him. I doubt that he has ever openly cried in front of anyone. He pulls Yuki into his lap and they hold each other while looking at each other. He sighs and Yuki can tell a weight is lifted off his shoulders. She then pinches his cheek as a sign for him to kiss her, Yuki barely initiates so this was a big thing. They feel closer than ever after this convo. Itsu hugs Yuki and says he doesn’t think he could ever let her go. To top it, Itsu’s face is red and he isn’t drunk, he’s so flustered. He’s always so nonchalant so seeing him like this was adorable. Itsu says he wants to meet Yuki’s parents and Yuki thinks her parents will be okay with them living together. She says that her mom always wanted her to experience different things in life. When she told her mom she wanted to go to college, her mom encouraged her. So Yuki was confident that they will accept Itsu and accept them living together. Itsu realizes he is late for work and they run together while holding hands. When leaving, Itsu smiles and signs to Yuki saying he will see her later.


While Itsu is working, Kyo seems happy and it is cuz he is living with Rin. He is happy for Itsu but Itsu is worried about meeting Yuki’s parents. He knows tattoos aren’t accepted in Japan and Kyo asks if he plans on covering it. From what I understand, Japan has something called the Yakuza and those guys are known for having tattoos. They are gangsters or criminals and if Japanese people see you with tattoos, they associate that with the Yakuza. Foreigners who tend to visit are accepted but they have strict rules in hot springs bathhouses. If I got the info wrong lemme know but I watch Youtubers who have mentioned it and the author made a note at the end of the volume. Anyway, Yuki gets the guts to tell her parents that she is dating and asks if her boyfriend can visit the next weekend. They say yes and seem happy for her but they also look worried. Meanwhile, Shin and Emma go on a day trip to the hot springs. Emma brought a ton of things thinking it was overnight and Shin offers to carry it. These two are so damn boring and I’m sorry I find Emma so annoying. I genuinely don’t know what Shin likes about her other than her hair and being pretty. Shin says it’s fine they can spend the night in separate rooms but Emma says she wants to see the real Shin, saying she is fine with one room. Once they get to their room, Emma is in love with the room and runs around happy. When she lies down, Shin plays with her hair and Emma is flustered. But then she moves away and they both change into their yukatas which is basically a Japanese robe. Emma’s sash was twisted so Shin tells her and Emma asks him to fix it. He fixes it while standing close and Emma is flustered. They go on a walk and get drunk. Shin is more bubbly when he is drunk and says he will always be there for Emma. But Emma thinks about Itsu and he says that he doesn’t like competing with Itsu. He asks Emma what she would do if he wasn’t around and she tells him not to disappear. They walk together holding hands but I was bored by their moments, it kept taking away from Itsu and Yuki. It does seem like they are closer now and Emma is willing to see him differently.


Itsu comes over to meet Yuki’s parents and she meets him outside. Itsu dyed his hair black to make good impressions on her parents, Yuki says he looks handsome. Itsu brought them food as a formal polite greeting, apparently they do this in Japan, bringing food or something to a person’s home (something like that). It was so cute that Yuki was more nervous than Itsu while he was so laid back despite us knowing how nervous he was before. Yuki’s parents were lively before meeting Itsu but the second they see them, they are depressed. Yuki’s dad sits on the couch watching TV when Itsu sits at the dining table. I was cringing thinking it would be awkward but Itsu is so chill, he goes and sits with Yuki’s dad, asking what he is watching. When Yuki’s dad gets up to walk away, Itsu follows him to give him the remote. They finally are okay and once everyone sits together to eat, Itsu gives Yuki an app on her phone that helps transcribe what everyone is saying. He is so thoughtful and sweet, even though Yuki is aware of these apps, she is grateful. Yuki’s mom and dad are in disbelief that Yuki is dating Itsu since he is so handsome and Itsu says that Yuki’s dad is handsome. They are shocked that Itsu knows sign language. Itsu says that he is happy with Yuki and asks Yuki what her dad likes to give it to him (food on the table). Itsu says that he likes going to different countries and learning differently languages. When he met Yuki, he realized that she may feel alone in the world since she isn’t able to hear others. He wants to tear those walls down and make a world where Yuki isn’t alone. Her mom says that she knows that they should have learned sign language but they all raise their kids in different ways. But she is happy to see Yuki and Itsu getting along. Itsu says that he knows it’s a bit sudden, but if he and Yuki can start living together. Everyone is in shock and Yuki’s dad asks Itsu to go out with him. Yuki is confused but Itsu gives her a thumbs up and walks out. I had no idea Yuki’s dad was gonna take him to a hot springs bathing house.


At the bathhouse, Itsu covers his tattoo with a patch. I found it hilarious how Itsu got Yuki’s dad to warm up to him so easily. He asks for Yuki’s dad’s name which is Hisaji and then asks to call him Hisa-chan which I found hilarious. I swear isn’t “chan” supposed to be used on someone younger? Well Google says close friends or younger people so lemme know if I’m wrong but I found that hilariously cute. Itsu says that Hisa can call him Itsu-kun. Itsu starts splashing Hisa in the water. They try to talk in the sauna but realize they aren’t supposed to talk there. When they sit outside, Itsu starts rubbing a random old man’s back and Hisa is confused as to why he is doing that to a stranger. The old man says Itsu reminds him of his grandson and Itsu says he can think of him as a grandson. The entire time Yuki’s dad is in disbelief and they keep trying to have a conversation but Itsu is chaotic, dragging Yuki’s dad around. Hisa asks Itsu why he likes Yuki and Itsu realized he never really told Yuki he liked her. He says that he did call her his beloved. Hisa can tell that he wasn’t from Japan since Itsu is so open about his affection. Hisa asks Itsu what made him like Yuki and Itsu says that he fell in love with her when he met her. He says that everything Yuki does, he finds beautiful. He says even if sign language is difficult to learn, he cares about the quality of the conversation when it is someone important to him. He tells Hisa that it’s pretty obvious that he is in love with Yuki from the bottom of his heart, boy does he have a way with words. They get out of the water and go out for drinks. Before they leave, a bunch of guys ask Hisa if he is Itsu’s dad and Itsu says that it is his girlfriend’s dad. They all tell Hisa not to let Itsu go and I was dying, Hisa was shocked Itsu made so many friends in a short period of time.


Hisa asks Itsu what his tattoo means while they are out for drinks. He was relieved that Itsu didn’t have any other tattoos and when he told Itsu this at the bathhouse, Itsu asked if that is why he took him there (since they get naked at the bathhouse). Then he asks if Hisa wanted to see the whole package and I found it hilarious. The guy was so nervous and flustered but then he acts like this in front of Yuki’s dad. Anyway, Itsu says that only his dad knows the story of his tattoo and takes his phone out. It has a picture of two kids and I wish we heard what he said but nope we don’t see it. I guess it’s saved for another volume when he tells Yuki. What I found heartbreaking was when Hisa told Itsu about Yuki’s brother. Yuki’s brother was dating someone but he visits his parents. He tells them that he broke up with his girlfriend. He says that he always saw Yuki as his cute little sister. He thought that his girlfriend would accept her but his girlfriend had no idea Yuki was deaf. I was so sad, she broke up with him since she was scared their kids would have disabilities. That’s pretty ableist of her, her brother didn’t want Yuki to know and Hisa tells Itsu not to tell Yuki. He says how he thought Itsu would dump Yuki but after seeing them together, he can tell they will last. He says he can’t give an answer right away since he has to talk to Yuki’s mom but he is okay with them living together, just not right away which Itsu is good with. If Yuki found out, I know she would feel heartbroken, it’s so fucked up. It’s sweet how her brother never treated her differently despite the break-up, he never blamed Yuki. Itsu texts Yuki he will be back soon and Yuki’s mom asks if Yuki wants to move with Itsu. I’m not sure if Yuki said something but she looks like she wants to and Itsu appears. Throughout this whole thing we get interrupted with stupid Shin and Emma moments but I already summarized what happened with them so we gonna continue with our favs.


Itsu and Hisa have their arms around each other and Yuki is shocked that they are close now. She hears Itsu call her dad Hisa-chan and is so confused. They both appear to be drunk and her dad says that he knows he was gonna talk to his wife but he is good with Yuki moving in with Itsu. He writes on a board that he will miss her but support her. Her mom writes that she will miss Yuki too but agrees with the dad. While they hug, Itsu joins in on the hug, I was dying, this guy can fit in anywhere. Itsu tells Yuki’s parents that he promises to protect Yuki and Yuki says that she wants to support Itsu too. Yuki and her mom were wondering what Hisa and Itsu talked about but they say it was a conversation between men. Itsu says he was happy to spend time with Yuki’s dad at the bathhouse and have a meal together. Itsu tells them to eat the thing he brought which was German cheesecake that he made and the volume ends. Can’t wait to see Itsu and Yuki move in together and be happier than ever. Really curious about what Itsu told Yuki’s dad about his tattoo, I’ve always wondered what it meant. Also the amount of effort Itsu put in prep for meeting Yuki’s parents is so sweet. This guy takes everything so seriously but he’s also hilarious with his chaotic behaviour.

j’ai même pas les mots pour écrire un avis.

sachez juste que j’ai lu les huit tomes en une nuit, impossible de décrocher. ce manga est une addiction. je me suis couchée en pensant à itsu et yuki et je me suis réveillée en pensant à eux.
je me retrouve comme une gamine à taper des pieds dans mon lit et à crier parce que juste faut que j’extériorise cet amour que j’ai pour eux.

c’est doux. c’est pure. c’est honnête. c’est bienveillant. c’est surprenant. les personnages sont adorables. leur relation est juste à tomber par terre (de même que Itsu avec certaines coupes de cheveux hum hum).

même les personnages secondaires je les aime beaucoup trop (hello oushi)

bref. ce manga c’est le réconfort dont j’avais besoin. c’est un bonbon tout doux pour le cœur. on en redemande. vraiment je suis addicte c’est devenu une obsession. ça va repartir en relecture toutes les semaines c’est pas possible.

itsu x yuki make me want to cry (currently holding back tears in public) because i love them. i appreciate their relationship so much and value the conversations they have with each other and the people closest to them. ngl, need my man to be (like, since i can’t have him) itsuomi. shin, stand up!!

This story is so cute but I can't get over the fact that her parents never learned sign for her. Like why??

This is one of the more unique shoujo mangas I've read this year. Apart from being based in college instead of high school, this is about a somewhat unusual couple - a deaf girl who can only communicate with texting and sign language and a multilingual boy with a penchant for travelling.

The beginning of the story was extremely cute though I had some reservations about Itsuomi because he came off as a bit too pushy and disrespectful of Yuki's personal space and as someone who needs their personal space, it irked me a bit. Another thing that bothered me was how starstruck (or lovestruck) Yuki was by Itsuomi. She's always too nervous when with him and gets easily strung along by him. While they did end up falling in love and started dating, it was still something that I didn't exactly like much. There's also something else that I didn't like which was the childhood friend with unrequited love angle. And somehow both Yuki and Itsuomi have that. It's so annoying lol. But thankfully, both childhood friends are more or less respectful of Itsuomi and Yuki's relationship.

That's for what I didn't like. What I did like was most of the manga, including the plot, the characters and the romance, especially the romance actually because just like with You Got Me, Senpai! the characters are very mature and communicative of their desires. I like that aspect of their relationship a lot. In fact, they're both also very respectful of each other, which is really good to read. Their interactions are also very fun and extremely cute to read.

Overall, I really like the manga so far! I think it has potential to be even better though.

This is fine but it's just kinda boring now as there is basically no plot.

I still can't get over the fact that she was born deaf and her parents never bothered to learn sign language at all. Like what kind of parents don't even try they've had 19 years
