Tales of a dirty broke musician playing music in your bars and hometowns. Tales of living in a mini-van and working in salmon processing plants. Tales of harvesting blueberries and living on a cruise ship. Based on true stories directly from the road into your hands.Book soundtrack available
Had this.book in my library for a FL couple of years, I love American folk music the likes of William Elliot whitmore & Ray lamontagne so I gave it a go. This book reminded me of a modern day Jack Kerouac's On the Road. At times I wanted to throttle D.B Rouse only because of some of his choices. I now am going to listen to some of his music and maybe who knows maybe one day I will be a hobo musician
A rather stream-of-consciousness type of road-trip account, but still quite readable. I found myself wanting more detail and more depth, but it was still quite readable (better written than most of this type) and held my attention to the end.
Truly enjoyed this one. Having met DB Rouse (and having him perform in my honor because I couldn't attend his evening show) may have contributed to my interest in his travel stories-- but not all that much!
Very entertaining and gave a good insight on life on the road. I would have liked a bit more depth on some of the stories. It will be fun to discuss at Book Group this month!
This is a good book and easy to read. Very eclectic. I was sorry that the author couldn't make it work with Lauren but given the kind of person he is (or was) it is understandable. There were at least 2 insights in the book which I found enlightening for me.
