God's Remedy for Rejection

Rejection. It’s a horrible feeling that you don’t quite match up, that you’re forever falling short, that you’ll never live up to others’ expectations. We’ve all faced it, whether it’s being last-pick for the softball team at school, being overlooked for a promotion at work, or being excluded from a group of friends. Sometimes the rejection runs even deeper. Feelings of loneliness and inadequacy are hard to handle. The good news is there’s a remedy. It’s in Jesus Christ, who faced the ultimate rejection and therefore knows how it feels. In bearing our sins, He was rejected by the Father and by us, His own creation, as well. He knows how it hurts. Because He faced that pain, we no longer need to. He’s planned another life for us, a life of acceptance in His family and freedom from rejection. Let go of the shame and enjoy the Father’s embrace today.

About the author

Derek Prince (1915-2003), was an International Bible teacher and founder of Derek Prince Ministries International, wrote more than fifty books.
He was born in India of British parents. Educated as a scholar of Greek and Latin at Eton College and Cambridge University, England, he held a Fellowship in Ancient and Modern Philosophy at King’s College. He also studied Hebrew and Aramaic, at Cambridge University and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His daily radio broadcast, Derek Prince Legacy Radio, still reaches listeners around the world.

Actually, three and a half stars for the book. When I was reading this book I realized not only physical pain but Jesus went through a lot of psychological terrors. We people always find a reason to complain and never step back to demotivate and discourage or throw a rejection towards other but Christ took and bore everything willingly and without any complain. So, how great our GOD is :)))

never disappoints. Rejection holds so very many in a fragile state that seems impossible to overcome. Derek helps to reveal how to get to the other side. I recommend this book to everyone. You do not need be the one struggling to rise from the agony! You can equip yourself with the knowledge to reach those around you suffering in the grip of rejection.

It's a peculiar thing when a minister goes into the field of psychology. It feels a bit wrong when he does not make any effort to add psychological insight from the field, rather only trust his own experience - and of course the Bible. Maybe Derek Prince knows a lot about this, but it does not exactly shine through the pages. It does not mean that he is wrong in what he says, it's just less professional and Prince goes too easily into blaming demons in matters of the soul. That aside, it's an ok book, from a biblical perspective it seems to give an adequate answer that can both help and let one prosper and go on with life after resolving the issue of rejection. However, it's not the whole story and this book is too short and too much theology in order to give much psychological guidance of sound basis.

This thin book can easily be read within a couple of hours, yet it deserves careful consideration. What are the roots of rejection? How does it affect our lives and our relationships with others? How can we overcome feelings of rejection? All these questions and more are answered biblically and sensitively by Derek Prince.

A great book for Sunday school classes, small groups and personal study. I have given away copies to persons with poor self-esteem, especially those who have suffered divorce or seem to have "bad luck" in relationships with the opposite sex.
