The Consigliere by Piper Stone is Book 2 of Ruthless Empire Series. This is the story of Daniel Briggs "Viper' and Madisen Alexander. Madisen is a black jack dealer in Los Vegas. When she witness a murder she knows she isn't safe there anymore. So she goes to her brother Michael to lay low. This puts her back in the sites of Daniel. Daniel is a ex military but now works as a Consigliere for his friend Maxwell Powers who is now the Don of New York Cosa Nostra in addition to CEO of Powers Security in California. Daniel and Madisen have always felt a spark but this book opens that spark up to a fire. Enjoyed.

This is a seriously Terrific Dark Mafia Romance. I highly recommend it. There is a lot of action a nice amount of smutty scenes as well as some butt stuff like a lot of Piper Stone books. Also there is a Wonderful HEA at the end

A fabulously action packed, steamy romantic written story. The Consigliere of a mafia syndicate in New York lives around the LA area. He works in personal security, having his own business, a bodyguard to the rich and famous. The Consigliere has his own demons that he’s trying to control, some are from his time in the military and others during his work as a bodyguard. Some of his friends took him to have some fun in Las Vegas years ago, during that time while in a costume, he met a woman who he can’t stop thinking about. They were electrifying together, she was a virgin but that didn’t matter to him, they had passionate sex but she snuck out while he was sleeping. He never saw her again so he went on with his life always thinking about her. She went back to her life thinking about him as well.
The two went back to their own lives after their meeting, he went back to the security company as well as the mafia and she went back to college to graduate and to go back to Las Vegas to find him but when she didn’t find him she became a dealer at a casino ran by a mafia boss. She saw something so she ran to her brother even though she didn’t tell him anything about it.
Going to a baseball game with her brother she sees her brother’s friend that she had a crush on when she was in school. After the baseball game she goes with them and the baseball team to a bar where she gets accosted by a creep but her brother’s best friend comes to her rescue. She can’t stand him any longer after what he told her all those years ago but when they briefly touched there was a spark.
Not long after the baseball game she noticed a SUV around her brother’s place, panicking she gathered all of her things and left. She wound up at her brother’s friends place, she needed help and from what she gathered from her brother the man was in the mafia as well as in security. Even though she didn’t like him, they were like oil and water. They talked and then she had her jeans and undies down getting a spanking.
A couple of days later they both got caught up in the electricity between them and they had sex even though they both still got on each other's nerves. He promised her that he would keep her safe. He called his mafia boss and they talked. The mafia boss was having a couple men sent to Las Vegas as well as some sent to him in LA.
There were many things going on at once which the man didn’t like. The Irish mob had a man go to LA, he didn’t know what the mafia boss in Las Vegas was going to do even though he knew of the guy’s reputation and also the security detail at work was driving him mad. So he got a tracker on the Irish mob guy’s vehicle as well as planted a bug. He decided to take some time off to make sure the sister of his friend would be alone since after he told her not to leave she went and left anyway even though it was to get groceries.
Everything between the two of them was getting explosive. They had sex on and off but they had problems between the two of them, he had the promise he made to her brother about not getting involved with her and she had what he said in the past after she told him how she felt about him causing her to hold back on the way she felt for him now. After a while she called her brother telling him where she was but she didn’t tell him everything. The woman finally figured out after being with him that he was the masked man from Las Vegas, getting upset she spat out about it as well as never hearing from him after leaving her number as well as a couple of other things before she left the room.
He decided that he needed to go to his best friend and tell him what was going on with his sister so while he was gone he had his friend from the security company come watch her. Getting to the friend’s apartment he tried to talk to him but the friend hit him so they started tasseling after he got him to stop he noticed an SUV go by twice, he had the friend get some things together and they went to the apartments back exit. As they were leaving gunshots rang and he killed two but there was one left, he got shot in the shoulder before he killed that one. They got into his vehicle and went to his place.
As the man went about giving orders to his men the brother was still not happy and after his sister went to another room he followed. It was starting to storm out, she was looking out a window when her brother came in. The two siblings started to talk but he was still treating her like a kid and that pissed her off so she told him how she felt and went out the back door into the rain and storm.
The man and his friend from the security company were getting the generator to work so the friend from the security company went to get it working. There will be a small amount of time that the electricity would be off while the generator was kicking on. The man found out that the woman went outside so he went looking for her, he saw someone dragging her off of the fence, he chased them into the wooded area next to his estate. The woman ran away from the guy who was trying to take her and the man killed him afterwards. He took the woman back to the estate and told the men what to do.
They left him and the woman in one of his cars and the rest in an SUV, they were going to the compound. They started being followed after the SUV was stuck while an accident was being cleared. They were on a bad stretch of road when the enemy tried to get them. One of the enemy's vehicles crashed into the mountain and burned but the others were still chasing them. Their car crashed, he knew that he was hurt but he had to save her so he stood in the middle of the road as the car came towards them he shot and the vehicle veered off the road and over the edge and the last one crashed also.
They got to the compound and he found out that the Irish mob boss was going through all of this. The mafia boss wasn’t even looking for the woman but he was planning on growing his empire into California. The man made a call to his mafia boss in New York and they talked about what to do about the Irish mob boss.
The two told each other how they felt about one another and they went to New York because he wasn’t leaving the woman that he loved by herself again. He and the mafia boss went to see the Irish mob boss to have a talk even though the Irish mob boss thought that he was dead. The Irish mob boss didn’t like what was being said so when he pulled out a gun to kill the mafia boss the man killed him.
While that was going on, the mafia boss’s woman went to the penthouse where the man and the woman were staying while in the city. The mafia boss’s woman had a dress for the woman as well as everything to go with it. She also had a bottle of champagne, they drank and got ready for the surprise that the man was going to take her to. When the two men got there she was introduced to the mafia boss and the man gave her a necklace to wear with the dress then they were taken to a gallery. That gallery had her painting in it, they both went in as the gallery owner rushed her off talking. Her brother was there and the man asked him if he could have his blessing to marry his sister. After a while the man went to her and he took out a box from his pocket opening it up as he asked her to marry him and she said yes.
They love one another but it wasn’t because of Las Vegas when they met in masks but before after she told him that she loved him when she was younger. He knew deep down that he had always loved her and now he would get the chance to show her and to keep his little minx safe.
Truly amazing characters as well as an exceptional page turner. An action packed story with suspense as well as intrigue with some thrills thrown in the mix, a steamy romantic happily ever after story.

The Consigliere is book 2 within this series and just as thrilling as The Don Maxwell's book.
This is Viper's story aka Daniel Briggs and the woman he had known since she was a girl Madison.
It's a pity Madison is Vipers friend Mike's baby sister.
This book is another rollercoaster ride so hang on tight...With a sexy begining were the main characters Viper/Danny and Madison spend one passionate night together.Meeting at an halloween party they are both in costume in disguise so they do not recognise one another.
But the chemistry and red hot attraction is too potent to ignore and they both spend that night living out a fantasy.
4 years later they both have never forgotten that night...and they meet again while Madison is staying with her brother Mike.
You see Madison has a secret she is on the run and is hiding from the man who is trying to hunt her down,after she is witness to a murder.
Viper cannot believe the stunning woman across the room is Madison..THE Madison who was just a kid following him around when he had last seen her....She was now a beauty who made his heart skip a beat and turned him on more than any other woman before her.
Madison has been in love with her Danny since she met him,but he left to join the military and left her heart broken
But now she was in danger and the only person skilled enough to protect her was Danny/Viper...He was ruthless,a killer and the Consigliere for Max.
The safest place for her would be to be under his care..and so she finds herself staying with him at his house...and the sparks begin to fly !!
Treating Madison like just another job was impossible.
Like with all of Pipers books there is steam and lots of it,but also some emotion too as Viper has a sad back story when he fought for his country and when he lost someone he was supposed to protect.
Madison heals Viper/Danny's heart and softens him a little...While Viper brings out the sassiness in Madison he also gives her the confidence to pursue her artistic dreams.
But with a contract out to kill Madison could Viper seperate his personal feelings to keep her safe.?
This is one fantastic story.
I listened to the audiobook and Thomas Lockclear plays every single character in this book..I don't know how he does it but he truly is a PHENOMENON.!!..Each character had their own distinct voice and you will be in awe of how he just lures you in..You don't even notice it is just Thomas narrating because it sounds like a multiple cast.
Piper Stone's writing is top notch and very intriguing,the plot will have you gripped I could not stop listening,even when I had to I could not wait to begin listening again.
I am excited now for The Underboss book 3..

Wow to the wow...this was a phenomenal book and I loved every single minute I spent reading it. I own a few books by Piper Stone, but this is the first one I have actually read. I think this was the perfect starting point for me, because now I can't wait to read the others. I couldn't put this book down and I read it in one sitting from beginning to end. Piper blew me away with The Consigliere - I didn't realize she had some seriously mad writing skills. Viper is this super hot anti-hero alpha male who takes his jobs seriously. Whether he is acting as the consigliere for the mafia or while on assignment with Powers Security Company. Madisen is a sassy little spitfire who is also a woman of many talents. Whether it is dealing blackjack, hacking computer files/systems, her stealth like abilities for snooping or using her artistic talents to paint beautiful pictures. They share a chemistry between them that is beyond their control. This leads to some pretty spicy scenes throughout the book. I really liked most of the characters in this story and there were several of them with exception to a few (aka the bad guys and Mike - Madisen's brother...I did warm up to him by the end of the book).

Madisen knows she needs help so she leaves Vegas and goes home to her brother Michael in Los Angeles. Madisen and Viper have always had an attraction for each other. Viper has to control himself and his feelings where Madisen is concerned. So Viper takes it upon himself to protect Madisen from the trouble she is in. He is brutal and ruthless on the criminal side and sweet when it comes to Madisen on the possessive, protective side. I think these books are understood more if read in order. Great characters.

This story was about Madisen Alexander and Daniel Danny Briggs (Viper), Madisen lost both her parents at a young age, her brother Mike had to look after his sister, Viper also helped because him and Mike are best friends and they always made sure she was looked after. Then Viper went into the military without telling Mads the little girl from having a crush to hating him. This book is such a hook once you get started you can’t put it down at least for me it was one of the many reasons I believe that is cause the best friend’s little sister theme! That’s one of my favorites kind of book themes to read about it’s fun forbidden and so much more. This book did not disappoint at at all in fact personally I loved this one more than the first book in the series they are both wonderful don’t get me wrong. The chemistry electricity is so strong between the two main characters is insane and the steamy scenes will have sweaty in no time lol! Between the beginning and so one I was at the edge of my seat wanting to know when they realize something that happened it’s kinda surprising how long it took them! I don’t want to give it away so please read to find out there is so much to enjoy mafia crime, very action packed, suspenseful things through out the whole book with strong independent female who is very sassy! Some shocking betrayal and so much more that your probably lose track of time and sleep!.

Ask and ye shall receive. Thanks, Piper! I read, and LOVED The Don and when I wrote my review for it I wished Viper, who I really liked, would get his own story. I said I thought he needed love to come in and shake up his life a bit. Well, boy did it ever! I ended up adoring him as his many hidden layers were revealed. Just like the last book, this one is also very different from typical Mafia romances. To begin with it’s a brother’s best-friend, which is definitely not what I see a lot in the genre, although Piper has written one or two. And Madisen isn’t afraid of Viper (Danny) although she’s pretty annoyed with him at the beginning. “Mike… there’s a stench in the air I’d like to avoid.” I thought it was hilarious when he realized she was all grown up and gorgeous and he didn’t even recognize her and then her brother, Mike, although much smaller than Viper, warned him if he touched her he’d break his face. Also just like the last book this one has a ton of actual plot, which I’m not going to spoil. Just be warned it’s hard to put this book down, even to get a drink or something.

Danny "Viper" Briggs and Madisen Alexander have a long history. He is her brother's good friend from childhood, and she's been in love with him for as long as she can remember. When her life is in danger after she witnessed a murder, she goes to him, knowing nobody else would be able to keep her safe. She puts her heart on the line, not realizing he loves her too, but is too hard to admit it to himself, let alone her. He does what is necessary to save her, realizing he cannot bear to lose her ever. It's a beautiful love story with lots of tension and action, a healthy dose of spiciness and spankings. I loved the first book in the series, The Don, but this one is even better. In my opinion, this one is Piper Stone's best work. From the cover to the last page, it is absolutely positively worth the one click.

This is the second in the Ruthless Empire Series but can be read alone and still make sense since I haven't read the first book yet and I was able to follow the story line. Danny and Madison have known each other for years since he is her brother's best friend and she has had a crush on him forever. There is a wonderful "chance meeting" between these two years later but due to each of them wearing a costume, their true identity remained unknown. Fast forward several years and Madison has gotten herself in a "but of trouble" and knows her only chance to remain alive is to seek out her childhood crush, Viper (Danny} who is the only person she knows that has the training to help. I will DEFINITELY be reading Book one to read about the other two characters that are a part of this story. Definitely a series you won't want to miss.

To think only months ago the name Piper Stone didn't mean much to me and certainly not this dark and sensuous genre of Mafia romances, but from that first book I picked up and read of hers I have been held hostage to her wonderful world of lustful storytelling. I guess I'm just not sure if the real Mafia are as delicious as the ones Piper creates for her readers to full head over heels with.
Anyway, yet again, more fantastic characters in "The Consigliere" and as usual the heat level takes readers above and beyond into that highly aroused world of brutal Mafia storytelling with that incredible ability to find love at all costs.

Another wonderful story from Piper Stone. Madisen has known Danny for a long time since he is her brother's great friend from childhood. She has loved him forever. A one night stand that was unforgettable, many years on, is back and needs protection. But there are so many problems. Madisen hates Viper, she's his best friends sister and protecting her could lead to a war. Can Viper provide what is needed and remain detached? I highly doubt it. There is a lot at play and someone needs to detangle the web that they are catch up in before the spider comes home. A good mafia read.

This is highly recommended because you're on the edge of your seat while reading and can't turn the pages fast enough.
