This has gotten very jumbled.
The overall story is progressing just fine, but the details are so quickly parsed out that it just gets to be a mess. I think this is mostly an editing problem.

The later half becomes predictable and boring

While the novel offers moments of excitement and intrigue, it struggles to maintain the momentum established in its predecessor, falling short in certain areas of character development and pacing.

'The Jester of the Apocalypse: Immortality' repeats the same formula it did in the first book. A repetitive training arc to highlight just how special protagonist's power scaling is. Book 2, 'Immortality' continues to built the literary universe, introducing more exposition. More clearly defined 'good', divine, forces and 'bad', monstrous, forces in universe.
Story continues down the path of skewed power scaling. Reiterating protagonist as a force of nature, an overpowered entity, like, Saitama from 'Onepunch-man' by ONE. Additional aspects for continued growth, e.g. monster core imbued weapons, smithing, golemcraft etc.
Going forward only way for the story to progress is to ever more increase abstract and over the top power scaling, think 'Toriko' by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro. Personally, ONE is the only author who has successfully written a story with initially overpowered protagonist. Introducing literal divine entities as antagonist in book 2 doesn't indicate promising series.
Conclusion: 1/5. Listened on Audible bought for 1 credit. Narrated by: J.S. Arquin. Story is targeted at shonen, young adult men, who are entertained by constant battle and what more psychologically mature people would call cringe protagonists. Think dark-gloom monologuing while stumping adversaries. Bad value for the length of the book - 1.52 $/hour ( 26.79 $ / 17 hrs 41 mins ).

So far this is like watching someone's decent into insanity or schizophrenia. I'm still a little confused where this book is going, and if the protag's goals are possible. But I will pick up the sequel...
Which I think might be the last book for now, as the author has put this series on hiatus.
From what I read from the author's two series, I don't mind picking up whatever he writes. The books are entertaining.

Amazing!!!
One of the most entertaining books I've read, I was fully hooked throughout the whole thing to the point where I put my life on hold to read it. Brought the story up another level from the first!

This was so freaking cool
This book was a massive step up from book 1. God, not even single moment of time wasting. It's such a meaty book but everything happened so fast.

The series keeps getting better
I am really enjoying this series. I lost a day of work because I didn't want to put it down. Love the way the world keeps evolving and wonder what is next. Honestly, it is not a typical god vs. devil or a culturvator becoming stronger; it is more.

The author rewrote and fixed this book and it has shown how much he has grown as the story fits together nicely from the chaos that it was before

If it has been a while since you read the first book, I strongly recommend a re-read before starting book two. Its first few chapters throw the reader in at the deep end and keep up a frenetic pace.
The plot line eventually gels into a driving narrative that maintains its tension relentlessly. Neave is either gaming the skill system, fighting powerful opponents, or cultivating allies. I never wanted to stop reading.
Some interesting philosophy emerges now and then. For example: If you have a devil and an angel on each shoulder, constantly telling you what to do, can you truly exercise free will?
In the book's final quarter, the world's scope takes a giant leap outwards as we learn more about the demons, and are introduced to the godly plane with their associated earthly cult. It finishes with a sort of cliffhanger – in the sense that we've no real idea of what Neave's heading into.
