The Legend of Slaughter Mountain has been terrorizing the bear shifters of Alaska relentlessly for the past fifteen years. The past year has split the bear shifters into two Clans—the New, and the Old. The Old clings to a barbaric way of life where females are less than, but the New? Biergon the Dead is leading them toward a new reality—one where the females run this new world. Biergon has given them power, and freedom, and support.
Slaughter has lost much to the Old Clan. He has been keeping them in line since, but now there is a female who is trying to kill him. He should be furious, but Tayah the Vicious has his attention. She has her own reasons for hunting Slaughter, and now he is forced to deal with the past and all the things that made him the Destroyer that he is. If anyone can bring him into the light, it’s Tayah…but she will have to pay a huge price to do so.
Tayah the Vicious is in a Clan that makes no sense. The females here pair up because they want to, but Tayah knows that is just weakness. She will never settle down, will never trust a male to be a partner with her. Females run the world now, and Tayah will spend every last breath pushing her friends into the light. But…there is one last link to the old ways of life, and his name is Slaughter. He has done unspeakable things, and he must be stopped. He is creating a war no one can contain, and it’s up to Tayah to put an end to the Legend of Slaughter Mountain. The only problem? He’s much too interesting for his own good. The more she learns of the reasons for his vengeance, the more it makes sense that he would want to bring war to the Clans.
Perhaps Slaughter’s war is exactly what they all need. Perhaps he can fix the wrong that’s been done to Tayah. And maybe, just maybe…Slaughter can teach her how to live.

I really, really liked this one, well actually I liked every single one of the books in this series, but this one was very surprising indeed, but I loved it! We all thought that Slaughter was the bad news bear, well......
Tayah is the only female left that is unmated and she wants to keep it that way no male is ever going to tell her what to do, or control what she says, or does. Tayah decides to go kill Slaughter for what he did to her friend Anya's human Owen. She never expected what she finds in Slaughter, something Tayah doesn't want to even think about.
Slaughter never expected what Taya accomplished, no man has ever gotten that close to him. To top it all off the wound doesn't heal and that says something, something Slaughter doesn't want to even think about.
Will these two lost souls find themselves in each other?
Kudos Ms. Joyce, great ending to this spectacular series, can't wait for the next.
I have been gripped by this series, so different from previous books, we see the women of a broken clan stand up for themselves and others around them. I was never sure how this book was going to end as it had incredible twists and turns along the way. It is about moving on from your past and not allowing it to define you, and it's about finding someone who understands what you need. It's an enemy to lovers, a hurt/comfort book with so much snark and humour and finding other ways to say I love you. I'll be rereading this one a few more times to appreciate the journey and the joy. Just read it!! It's soo so good!!!
Oh my goodness! this one was the perfect ending to this series and hands down my favorite. Two broken souls who are the perfect match. I can't get over how bad ass Tayah was and how quickly Slaughter stole my heart. I loved it so much!
This is the fourth book in this series. They can be read as stand-alone books but I don’t recommend that. Tayah doesn’t understand the other woman. They went through so much with the old clan and yet they have paired up again. Men can’t be trusted. She will never tie her self to a man again. Slaughter is a monster. He likes knowing people think of him that way. Then one day Tayah shows up and tries to kill him. She doesn’t but he likes that she tried. The two of them have more in common they could have ever imagined. Both are still dealing with feeling because of their exes or rather trying not to deal with. They wind up helping each other with those things and becoming closer. They are an unlikely pair but perfect for each other. The old clan is still trying to cause trouble with the new clan. But Slaughter has a secret that is going to chance everything. The old clan is going to mad about his secret with they find out. He will let everyone know at the right time. Tayah has become Slaughter’s queen and he won’t let anyone hurt or disrespect her. This book was a fantastic read. A perfect ending to the series. I can’t wait for the next series by T.S. Joyce. She is one of my must-read authors. I don’t even read the blurbs just dive in. Fantastic job once again T.S. Joyce.
The Legend of Slaughter Mountain is finally here and by far the best book in this series, but oh let’s be honest, they are all AMAZING…but this one will go down as being Legendary❣️
Slaughter is a mystery to all the others, and while some know his story, others portray him to be evil. Tayah gets a bee in her bonnet and decides she’s going to kill him for grievances against the New Clan..only to find herself propositioned to be trained by the very monster she wants to kill😳
I will say this book took a few deviations and twists I truly didn’t expect but that made this story infinitely better. It was also a little longer than usual but absolutely happy to read and stay in Slaughter Mountains as I didn’t want this series to end🥹
Can’t wait for the next book and hope we are headed back “home” to where it all began😍
This one took a bit to get rolling. There was so much anger and animosity at the start, so different from how it ended. The middle was where Slaughter and Tayah had to come to terms with the past and really figure out their future. It wasn't easy for them, each had to share things they didn't want, but the other needed to know. In the end Slaughter was able to empower Tayah in such a way that boggled her mind. More so when she realized others saw what Slaughter did and saw how great it was. For Slaughter, Tayah gave him a place to just be, a home, a person. All of that made the ending so great!
The H and h are great together and both deserve their HEA. This author is auto-buy for me, the writing is consistent and somehow even with the 100 books I have bought and re-read, the plots and characters are intricate and enthralling.
I have a mixed personality review of this book. And seriously hung up on the ending of the last one. If I didn't read the previous one I would have given it 5 stars. Liked how Slaughter unfroze his heart and glad the h healed from a horrible past. Loved seeing past characters and them continuing to learn to live and grow. But I'm not as forgiving as these people. He took a choice away from Owen in the previous book. He took something not freely given then pretty much tortured him for a month. slaughter continues to make Owen do things he doesn't know he's doing. But this all is for Owens benefit??? If Slaughter was so mighty we wouldn't need a henchman. If he was so mighty stop waiting around , take out the bad guys and protect the good guys. He doesn't get to pick a person and decide to change him because he wants to make him stronger and it's in the benefit for all. In this book it was like well we are ok with it. I guess it is better this way. When a decision was made against your will you have to be strong and learn to be ok with the outcome. So yep mixed mixed feelings about this.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
‘She was stunned at his openness. God, she found so much attractive about him, but he was emotionally intelligent in surprising ways.’ ‘Slaughter didn’t want to consume her. He didn’t want to own her, or control her. He wanted her to own herself, and there was such potent power in that.’
You know when you crave a very special treat? You squirrel it away and save it to snack on at a very special time?
TS Joyce creates my special snacks with her beautiful words about love and loyalty, devotion and desire, and creating a light that brings hope to those around us, even in the darkest of times.
Legend of Slaughter Mountain, book 4 in the Bears of Slaughter Mountain series, is a bittersweet treat, as it closes not only this series, but many wonderful paranormal characters who have lead us through pain and terror, to find the light inside themselves.
As soon as TS Joyce reveals a new book, I purchase it. I then save that exquisite morsel and create a special time to immerse myself in the Joy of Joyce!
This book definitely answers some questions left over from the last book. I'm still not totally okay with how things went down with Owen although I understand why the MMC did things the way he did. Honestly, the MMC's story is heartbreaking so there has to be some sadness in this HEA. In addition, the MFC was so badly abused for so long that it was a heavier story than a lot of this author's work. Which is fine.
The centering of women in this series is lovely. They absolutely overturn the previous toxic patriarchal structure with the help of a couple zombie and war bears, but mostly females.
The MFC has some really fun angry moments but my favorite point is when she realizes she was supporting and empowering other women all along.
“Tayah rocked her head back to the ceiling and closed her eyes. She’d thought she was nothing once. And in her nothingness, someone had been looking up to her and thinking she was strong.”
This story takes you into the heart, of a monster. It also brings out the hurt, pain, and growth of Tayah. It shows us that you can't judge someone until you get to know them, you just might find the best thing in the world. Tarah and Slaughter's story is about the pain they both have gone through, and just being there for each other and letting them know they are valued for who they are and that the past can't control them. Friends, that they really didn't know they had, having their back when it counts. I would recommend this story to anyone who likes a good read, this author is amazing, she takes me on an emotional journey with every book, story she writes. This story, whether male or female, shows you that you are special as you are and gives you the courage to be strong when you don't think you can, and the friends in the background who have your back.#family
Tayah the Vicious was paired with the most brutal of the old clan, though Dahl was dead now, he’d broken her, she hated men, resented the new clan females weak enough to accept men, Tayah remembered the past and how Legend became Slaughter; she hated Slaughter made Anya’s human, Owen, like him and she would kill him for it, especially when she learned Slaughter had control over Owen’s mind. She decided to kill Slaughter, maybe that would give her peace.
Tayah’s unable to kill Slaughter but volunteers to be his pupil and he explains his enemy and she’s confused to note some women of her clan agree with Slaughter’s words. Meanwhile, both Tayah and Slaughter are puzzled by the warming their hearts have toward each other. Good outing and a big plus for the series though this reader wondered if the clans would merge. Rating: 4.5stars
This is book four and seemingly the last book in the series. The feature couple is Slaughter and Tayah. It is not necessary to read the books in order, but there is an overarching storyline and plot that does go in order. Tayah is still angry and hates all males for the travesties that she had suffered from the old clan and council members. Anya is so wonderful in this story because she is relentlessly kind and loving towards Tayah, even though Tayah wants no friends and no body. She wants to be left alone to plot her revenge against Slaughter for what he did to Owen and Anya. There is a happy ending plus it’s wonderful because all the clans decide to work together for the advancement of all the bears of Slaughter Mountain. Read On!
This story has been so anticipated that I was almost afraid to read it. As with all TS Joyce stories, it was so worth the wait! Slaughter and Tayah both deserved this! Tayah the Vicious was so damaged by her old clan that the pieces she put back together were hard and sharp, and no one got behind her walls. Things like kindness and comfort weren't part of her vocabulary, but watching Anya hurt for what her mate went through pushed Tayah to action. She would kill the Legend. Slaughter had his reasons for every act, but it wasn't until facing Tayah's wrath that he finally began to feel past the numbness back into life. Together the pair fight past their trauma and discover they are not so different after all.
This is by far the best book in this series. The characters are starting to talk less strangely and the dialogue flows much more naturally because of it. Slaughter was a giant surprise in this book, though Tayah is everything you’d expect. She’s a violent and angry little spitball that slowly begins to crack. Then spew lava. It really didn’t go where I thought it would (in a fun way) and was really sweet and unexpectedly wholesome. If you ignore all the stabbing. Everything that’s been brewing in the previous books with the old pack comes to a boil in this one, and as you can imagine in a book where the MC is called Slaughter, it’s violent and bloody, and a very fitting ending to boot.
I loved this story so much. I got through each chapter and just thought that was a great chapter. Oh I liked that chapter just as much. Oh that chapter was just so perfect. It went on and on. This book was full of healing, love and finding & loving yourself just the way you are. T. S. Joyce, you did it again. I have read every book mentioned at the end and every book in this series and this book was a fitting end to this series. This story has so much meaning in it and just touched me so much. The violence is there but was written well as usual. So much heart and friendship and love in the story. Made me so happy. Thank you for sharing your words and gift.
This series has a very different feel from most of Ms Joyce's other works. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's the pervasive deep abuse that the women are dealing with that changes it from a light hearted, easy read to something deeper. As a SA survivor who also survived being groomed and married specifically because of my abused background, I empathize with the characters. I respect any author who tackles those hard issues, writing stories about women finding their strength, grieving the loss of who they were and who they could have been but also finding peace in who they have become. The love story is the icing on the cake for me with this series. This story is my favorite of this series. Love how she brings it together.
Legend of Slaughter Mountain is exactly the conclusion we didn’t know we needed for The Bears Of Slaughter Mountain. The healing of Tayah and Slaughter’s hearts was beyond beautiful and so necessary for this series. On this journey with them, we find what true unconditional love and support look and feel like. What the healing hands of girl power and female friendships should be. We get so much more than a romantic love story with Tayah and Slaughter. We find a chosen family and the unbreakable bonds that grow with it. This one had me laughing out loud and crying all in the same day. Beautiful story, beautifully written.
I have read all of T.S Joyce’s books, this is the best one. Strong women & supportive strong men, the characters give you visions of each & every person on the book. You can see them & know how they will react be part of the story you come willingly & just want to stay in. All of T. S. Joyce’s books are reread worthy, I love living in her worlds. Be part, of her worlds it’s a beautiful place to be. Thank you. I would like more moose stories, one was not enough. 🫎
Never disappointed by this author. I have read all of her books to date, and am either laughing out loud or crying from one page to the next. What a amazing rollercoaster ride! Slaughter has sooo many layers to him and the wonderful way he protects and opens Tayah up to her new world and power is emtionally gratifying. Can't say enough good things about this book, this author and this series. T.S Joyce is my auto buy and should be yours. Her releases always starts at .99 cents so everyone can experience the wonderful worlds and characters she creates. Alway well worth my time and $$!
This has been such an awesome series and I've loved all of the characters. But Tayah and Slaughter truly won my heart. He's a monster and definitely deadly but he also has a heart. He understands Tayah and offers to teach her to fight so she will be stronger and able to hold her own. Those left in the Old Clan Council are planning to kill her to destroy Slaughter but together with their friends they are unstoppable. It's an excellent story and full of emotions. You will definitely want to read it.
What a perfect ending!! I loved it! Tayah was one I was not a huge fan of. She was just mean and all. Her story mixed with Slaughter’s is just amazing. Detailed, deep and these two finding their zen is outstanding. The friendship that grows between her and the clan is wonderful and full of laughs.
Kian said “you smell of rage.” Tayah replies “its my natural scent. “.
Love it! Plus all the comments from the ladies. Just lovely! Sad to see this one end but it is always there for a re read!
Absolutely loved it...... Learning more about slaughter was facinating hes so full of depths i had no idea about, the monster of slaughter ridge isnt so much a terrifying beast but a man misunderstood who has a strong sence of loyalty and love. The power dynamic behind slaughter and tayah is something to behold.. beautiful with hearts of warriors these two will conquer all..
Tayna gets her love story this is the last book in this series I did love it but it felt to much like zombie wolf so that's why only 4 stars the storylines are different but the Dead bear zombie just made me feel we had this already but with a wolf.also I felt foster should not have taken a different name that made me feel sad yes he lost his wolf and a bear got put in him but he was still foster the man.
The whole series is just wonderful from the very beginning to the end. I love the fact that it ends with the women raising above abuse and degrading to finding themselves. Abuse at the hands of someone leaves scars you can't see but being able to take that and change to a positive is something special. Start at the beginning and read to the end, it spans several series but worth the read.
This has to be THE best ending to a series that this author has ever written. I love all her books but this by far is the longest and best. Slaughter as we know is a beast but can a beauty that's as hard as himself tame the beast? With the old clan coming for them both can they do battle amd live to tell the tale find out in this epic series finale you won't regret it. Next up time to go back to where it all started can't wait.
Tayah and Rorke are damaged people - they've been through repeated, terrible trauma and tragedy. But they are perfect for each other... who could say NO to this offer?
“You don’t have to say yes to shit,” he rumbled. “But if you do, I’ll feed you, and then I’ll fuck you, and I’ll keep you safe while you sleep.”
Great world building, story was strong and the characters were well developed.
This was definitely my favorite in the Slaughter Mountain series and a solid 5 stars. I've been obsessed with Slaughter so was very excited to finally read his story. It was nice to see all the layers of Slaughter/Rorke. I thought he and Tayah complimented each other so well, and I had a smile on my face for much of the second half of the book as they both found love and companionship again after living very solitary and unhappy lives.
