Does anybody want to build a snowman with me?⛄Or at least go Christmas shopping? No one? What do you mean there is no snow? But this book... It's Christmas! They... they lied? It's not Christmas yet? Oh, never mind, bring the candy canes anyway, I don't care, I'll have them in August.
I have to say it, where I live it is currently 30°C or more everyday, so I have no chance of seeing snow anytime soon. It's such a shame given that this book got me into the Christmas spirit. It seems like I'll have to wait a few more months.
Still, there is, at least for me, always the time to do a Christmas activity during summer. Whether it's drinking some hot chocolate, watching a classic holiday rom-com, or in this case, reading a Christmas book.

So, we all agree Christmas is that time of the year when miracles happen. But for our character, Anabelle, a miracle is probably the last thing she's thinking about. All she wants to do is survive a few days with her family when she returns to her hometown. There she meets her long-time crush and feelings come back to life.
If I were to match a song to this book I'd say the perfect choice is:
'Tis the damn season.
"So we can call it even, you can call me babe for the weekend,' tis the damn season, write this down, I'm staying at my parents house and the road not taken looks real good now, and it always leads to you and my hometown."
I'd even say we have a she fell, but he fell harder situation.
The chapters were short enough to keep my attention and the story had a few twists.
The main characters:
Leo
I loved the relationship Leo had with his mom (she's so cute, like "I told you" 😉). He really helped her get through a tough time and I have even more respect for him after finding out about the use of the letter situation. He loved Anabelle so so much and he tried so hard to keep away his feelings, but when Annie was in danger, he showed how much he actually cares. And btw, he can cook very well ☺️♥️
Anabelle
She learned that mistakes can be made and somehow we all end up where we are supposed to be. Everything you lose is a step you take. She wanted to fix some things just to find out they weren't really broken. As soon as she started to embrace the unpredictable, she found out you sometimes have to know the "villain's" story before you make up your mind. Christmas is magical so you should always keep your heart open around that time of the year.
One of the most relatable moments is when Anabelle notices how some people changed their attitude because she looked different. However, she knew they didn't deserve her because she finally was confident enough.
I loved how in the dual pov, some events overlapped so we were able to see what each of them was thinking. I always said the dual pov is a plus because you have two people in a relationship and you have to see the story from both sides.
Some of my favourite quotes:
It was just different with Anabelle-she saw me for who I was, not for what people wanted to see
I didn't want to waste one more minute being distant from my family since I now knew they were the ones who would be there for me when everything fell apart.
In that moment, I knew without a shadow of doubt that he really saw me. That he accepted me with his whole being.
All I know is that I'm done writing people off-you never know what might happen down the line.
But if you go alone, you won't have any reason to come back. And I need you to come back.
Were I Annie I don't know if I'd be able to forgive the people who hurt me, especially a particular person, but she has a big heart and I think eventually she'll do what's best for herself.
What I would have changed:
Maybe the book should've been a little bit longer so we can see more of the development of their relationship.
And also, I am still questioning the way their relationship will work out. I guess Leo will be able to remote work now.
This holiday season you may all end up On My Naughty List, but I don't even think you'll be sorry.🎄🎁

DNF at 66% in.
I wish I could have liked this book, I really did. I was so excited to read a Christmas themed romance but I was disappointed.
There were quite a few things that I didn't like and tried to ignore it and that made me put aside this book for more than one month. I tried to pick it up again but I just can't.
I don't understand how having both main characters in a relationship (with other people) or in kind of a relationship is a good way to start a book. For me, it makes everything so weird.
That was a big ick for me and then we learn that one friend lies about a significant thing. I could have 'ignored it' but I'm a curvy girl myself so reading about that just made me sick. I didn't feel good about it and didn't have any fun, as well as I didn't feel like this book showed how curvy girls are worth in their own way, they aren't worse or better than anyone else. We have a curvy FMC but she's just... there.
Other than that, I didn't enjoy the book to the point of reading it until the end.
On My Naughty List might be for some people but, for me, it wasn't a light christmas read.
Still, I wish all the best for the author and their upcoming releases.

Thank you Julianne for the opportunity to review your novel! On my naughty list is a story between Annabelle and Leo. Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding they had a fall out that lasted about 8 years. Juliannes writing was so descriptive and vivid that I did not have a hard time at all putting myself into their world. This was such a nice quick read for me as I love LOVE and romance in the holidays! What better way to get a second chance than in Christmas? My heart went out for Leo but he was so loveable as a dotting son who wants the best for his mama. I loved the way I could relate with the insecurities that Annabelle has faced throughout her teenage years and coming to fully embrace and accept herself as an adult. I also related with Leo’s christmas and smiled at the representation of a latino christmas.The Dual Pov was such a treat because I got to see what each character was thinking and feeling and it didnt disappoint. My heart fluttered at the way Leo described his feelings of Annabelle. If you love plus-size love, second chance, and a holiday rom-com please checkout this book, It will be available as an e-book on Oct 15!

On My Naughty List is a lighthearted rom-com. I loved, loved Leo. He's such a dork. It's refreshing to see a male lead who has not everything put together but that makes him all the more perfect. Furthermore, I love that the female lead is a little curvy. Those are few to come by. Anyways, I loved reading this book and I can't thank the author enough for providing me an ARC.
Go get your own copies when this book comes out. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This was cuuuuuuuute. I really liked Annabelle and Leo but I must admit I feel like it took forevvverrrr for the truth to come out. Considering it’s quite a short book I expected it to come out sooner and to get more lovey dovey action but nevertheless I still really liked it. It’s a cute Christmas romance that’s not heavily focused on Christmas shenanigans but more the romance and family aspect which was nice. I’d definitely read a Simon book because the man needs to a.) move out of his parents house and b.) find an actual relationship.
Only thing I’d say this was missing was some quirky pets, they always add to the Christmas vibes and make everything so much more fun and cozy 💙
Overall, cute short and sweet ✌🏽

I enjoyed everything about this book, an excellent debut by the author. I love plus size representation in books, and Julianne's approach was well done. I feel like there was a lot of character development on both sides. Leo and Anabelle had a lot to talk about and discover that they've both been played. An unfortunate misunderstanding that made a fall out in their relationship. It was obvious that despite everything happening, their feelings for each other never changed.
I would have loved for it to be a bit longer to get more time with each character.

This book has a very fast pace, the dialogue is very fun and I liked the characters. The plot is interesting, there are a lot of tropes and elements put together but I'm not mad about it. As this is her debut, she did a good job with the writing and the chemistry between the Main Characters. There's more swearing than I'd like and it's pretty hot, even without anything explicit (just to you know if that's your thing). In addition to these details, I liked it and will keep an eye on the author's future books.

An amazing debut for Julianne Baclayanto! I absolutely LOVED the characters in this book. Although I do wish we had more time with each one, I did like the things that we learned about them throughout the book. The plus/mid size representation was so nice to see, and it was done in a way that was subtle and relatable. The relationship between Leo and his mom was THE CUTEST. It was great to see their bond grow, even though it was under some tough circumstances. I also loved seeing the mother/daughter dynamic between Annie and her mom change throughout the story as well.
I do wish it was a tad longer and that the conflicts were drawn out a bit more. As mentioned before, some more character development overall would have benefited the story, imo, so we could connect more with all of the characters! It would have been nice to dive into the relationship between Leo and Annie more as well to give more of a background on what we were reading too.
Overall, this was a really fun, quick read. It gave all the Christmas vibes, some swoon worthy moments and some heartwarming themes as well. I highly recommend this to add to your holiday tbr! 🎄

Thank you so much to Julianne for the privilege of being an ARC reader for her debut novel! I am a sucker for all things Christmas and absolutely LOVE seeing plus size representation in the MAIN CHARACTER! A sweet, short, and fun read that I devoured in less than a day!
I related so much to Annabelle’s feelings of being unwanted or not good enough and her tense relationship with her mother as well. I loved the little moments throughout that you could see their mother/daughter connection mending and seeing Annie start to heal from that hurt was a joy to read.
Annabelle and Leo’s relationship has all the romance tropes. What a roller coaster! Best friends brother, childhood friends, best friend’s ex, miscommunication, second chance, saved my life, plus size love, dual POV, hallmark movie feelings…. Just… ah! So much to enjoy. I was rooting for them the whole time! But gosh dang it guys, COMMUNICATE!
I absolutely loved the dual POV in this one, especially the way it would at times replay a bit from the opposite’s version of the scene. Such a unique take that was cool to read.
Overall this was a very sweet read, I do wish it would have been a bit longer and maybe included a bit more backstory of the main characters just to build that connection with the reader more. It felt a little bit rushed at times. But it was still a great debut novel and I recommend it for the upcoming Christmas season cuddled up with a fuzzy blanket next to your tree with a mug of hot cocoa! 🎄☕️
I related so much to Annabelle’s feelings of being unwanted or not good enough and her tense relationship with her mother as well. I loved the little moments throughout that you could see their mother/daughter connection mending and seeing Annie start to heal from that hurt was a joy to read.

Okay this was CUTE! It was like reading a Hallmark movie but with a lot more ass grabbing 😮💨

It's a cute book about friendships and the importance of family. It had the perfect balance of witty banter and longing. Perfect book to cozy up on a cool day and get ready for the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately no one in Woodberry likes to communicate properly so many misunderstandings happen.

Perfect holiday rom com🎄
Individually Anabelle & Leo are cute but together they make hilarious chaotic cute couple. It’s was nice to see good written plus/mid size representation and affect of words that lead to insecurities even if they were said years ago. I really liked Leo’s he’s caring and supportive side especially in relationships with his mom. It’s also was contrast with Annie and her mom situation and I’m glad that they solve misunderstanding between them.
I really happy that I had a chance to read this wonderful story. Big thank you to the author herself for giving me this opportunity!

I was super fortunate to have received an ARC copy of "On My Naughty List" by Julianne Baclayanto and I'm so excited to share my thoughts on her debut novel with you! (Out October 15th).
First I loved both Annabelle and Leo and thought the book really benefited from the dual POV. I loved that it allowed me to understand their history from both sides and the mutual pining was spot on.🔥
Annabelle was a great female lead and I loved her body positivity. I think that whenever we go back to our childhood homes past insecurities can come out and this was reflected really well in the novel. Leo is amazing and definitely deserves a spot at a top book boyfriend. I felt like the their story gave off Hallmark movie vibes (which I love) but with some added tension which is perfect. I was able to read it in one night which was awesome and is great for a novel you will be reading during the holiday season! 🎄❄️☃️

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the author's debut novel and I wouldn't mind reading more from her, which is the reason why I rounded up my rating. The book's blurb gives you an idea of what to expect,though them being enemies doesn't really last long, and do be aware that the book explores body image/perception and parental abandonment. On My Naughty List is a cute first person dual pov Christmas romance.
Growing up, Anabelle was picked on because of the way she looks so that caused her to leave her hometown and grow confidence as she became a model. She learned to accept herself the way she was but returning home makes her remember some of those insecure feelings - especially when she's reunited with Leonardo, her brother's best friend and the boy who broke her heart. Working to pay off his school debts and earn money to make his dream of rebranding the bar that he works at while trying to be strong for his mother is a lot of Leonardo to handle. He doesn't need Anabelle, the girl who broke his heart, to be added to that mix but he can't help but to still feel that same pull he did all those years ago. As they spend time together, it's easy for old feelings to resurface between them but they both have to ask themselves if they're willing to let the other in again.
While things didn't end well between them when they were younger and there's some animosity between them when they first meet, it doesn't take long for them to make amends so if you're expecting a typical enemies to lovers story, then this isn't it. The reason behind their rift may seem like it could've been stronger but it makes sense that it would've affected Anabelle the way that it did because of how she viewed herself back then.Also, they were teenagers when it happened and then didn't have contact for years. Since both of them still carried feelings for the other, it was easy for them to fall back to how they were when they friends and fall in love again. Their romance is a closed door but it's on the more descriptive side and includes cussing, including bible swear words. I know there are reader who like to know this so there is a same sex couple. I do think there was more opportunity to flesh out the characters so that their situations and connection could impact readers more strongly but overall it's an easy and light read.

On My Naughty List is a second-chance romance between Anabelle and Leo. After years of being bullied about her physical appearance, of being fat, Anabelle left town as soon as she graduated high school all those years ago, leaving Leo behind, whom she seemingly rejected.
I wasn’t a fan of the miscommunication about their feelings before Anabelle left, which they were only able to talk about openly after several years, just when Anabelle came back to town for the holidays. I hated the fact that Hailee, Anabelle’s best friend, was the main cause of the almost-decade-long rift between them. I get why Hailee did it though, but the fact that she did not come clean after all those years I personally cannot forgive if it were up to me. I wished there was more drama surrounding Anabelle’s confrontation with her, but I admired Anabelle for keeping her cool and understanding the situation. I also admired Anabelle in this story – apart from leaving town the first chance she got (which was quite cowardly imo), I admired her confidence and her body-positive attitude. She used her figure to her advantage and became a model; it has become her asset.
Leo’s character arc was quite unremarkable though. I admired his love towards his mother and towards Anabelle, but I felt like his dream of owning Willow was handed to him on a silver platter like he didn’t really work hard to earn buying out the restaurant. I also feel like he could have handled his situation with Anabelle and Hailee all those years ago. I feel like he lacked effort in explaining the situation to Anabelle, he could have pushed her more with reason regardless of her pushing him away. If his feelings towards her were strong, he would have pursued her all the more.
Their chemistry all throughout the book was sweet. I just wished they had more interactions together as a couple in the book. I felt like it would have satisfied me a whole lot more overall.
On My Naughty List is an overall sweet and light Christmas-themed read. The romance was quite chill and the drama was light.

First of all, thank you, Julianne, for this amazing opportunity to read and support your book! I enjoyed every (extremely cozy) moment of it! Annabelle and Leo were such relatable characters. Their struggles felt real and their love believable. One of my favorite scenes includes a very frozen Leo trekking through a new blanket of snow. It was no surprise that Simon, Annabelle's brother, was a man on a mission–to do more than get a woman's number. As Leo's best friend, he was expected to drive Leo home since he got them to the party in the first place. And then a car drives up.
"Nice evening for a stroll!" Annabelle called out after rolling down her window.
I'd never been so happy to see her in my life. If she looked like an angel before, she just became one for real now.
"You following me Spencer?"
She rolled her eyes as she leaned over from the driver's seat to push open the passenger door. "Just get in."
Their dynamic is so devourable that I did, in fact, devour it in a day. I'm in love with this book. The descriptions of coffee and pastries, "Jingle Bell Rock" blaring, and Annabelle's father wearing ugly sweaters made me want to do all those things. The love I felt for the characters and plot was real. There is nothing that I would change about this book.
As a writer, I tend to nitpick every punctuation mistake, every time a word is repeated twice in the same paragraph. But I didn't have to nitpick anything in this book because it was already perfect.
This is THE book for Christmas. Prepare to put this on YOUR Christmas list. Everyone should put On My Naughty List on their Christmas list. Not only will this book drastically boost your Christmas spirit, (unless you don't like Christmas, which is just downright wrong) but it may just make your Christmas a little bit more magical.

I know this is a pretty low score but let me be clear that its mostly because of the lacking some elements and missed opportunity. This was a really cute, laid-back Christmas romcom. The authors writing had lots of quips that would make you laugh based on the dialogue alone. Luckily, the book didn’t solely focus on the romance between our MCs Annie and Leo; it touched on body positivity, family dynamics, some fears and trauma.
Here are some of the issues that I came across:
1) What I didn’t feel so much was the Christmas / Holiday vibe. Yes, the timeline was during the Christmas, but it didn’t feel that for me with the exception of one Christmas Party and Christmas morning opening presents – it was definitely a missed opportunity there.
2) Miscommunication tropes usually don’t bother me, but this kind of did. It possibly because there wasn’t anything profound in the plot that it didn’t justify the eight years of hating / pining between the MCs. Also, another miscommunication was between Annie and her mom, between years of feeling undervalued and subpar – the resolution was so quick that I had to say, “that was it?”.
3) There were a few holes / missed opportunities for me when it came to the MCs, there could have been more tension. Also with the Leo’s Dad, it could’ve been touched a bit more. Lastly, such a missed opportunity on the Brother’s Best Friend part. I always say, secondary characters are just as important, I don’t feel like they contributed much here.
Overall, it was okay. At NO POINT did I want to DNF the book, it was a fun read, I was mostly just a missed opportunity for me.

I’ve read 77 books so far this year, and this ARC is my absolute FAVORITE! I was BLESSED with the opportunity to read “On My Naughty List” from the author Julianne Baclayanto! And boy when I say blessed I truly mean it! I’d give this book 10 stars if I could! Chef’s Kiss, A+, literally there aren’t enough positive statements I could make about this book! Annie and Leo were such great Main Characters! The dual pov was on point! The conflict and resolution was fantastic. The individual stories they had going on by themselves while their story progressed at the same time were excellently thought out and perfectly executed! All of the little details that you would want and need to fully understand and picture this book playing out in your mind were spot on! More than I could have asked for! The Christmas time/ home for the holiday setting made it even more perfect. The plus sized body positivity and how Annie as an adult knew she was a bad ass and she knew her worth was phenomenal! This sweet holiday rom-com is a mildly spicy and quick kindle read that includes a mix of boy next door, first love, enemies to lovers, body positivity, and small town tropes that will leave you with a BIG smile on your face! Leo and Annie are my new favourite couple! The cheesy hallmark Christmas movies are my guilty pleasure, so immediately I knew I was going to love this book! The chapters flowed really well, such a short & cute easy read!
Annabelle's body issues and her feelings about it was so valid, I started tearing up while reading it- it made me feel so seen.
Also when Leo said "As if women didn't deserve basic respect unless they were already "claimed" by someone else?"
I started aggressively chanting like a football fan: LEO
LEO LEO LEO LEO!
He's the kind of man everyone deserves to have, the one that has loved every part of you since the very start, even when you didn't.
I absolutely ate this book up and left no crumbs - I can't wait to read more of Julianne's work!

Second chance romance, enemies to lovers and brothers best friend - all tropes that I really enjoy. This was an amazing debut by Julianne and I can't wait to read more from this author!
Leo and Annabelle were childhood friends, they both had a crush on each other but never told the other about their feelings. This all changed when Annabelle was told that Leo was calling her names. Cue the eight-year fall out - Annabelle cut Leo from her life, until they meet again after eight years.
Can childhood friends, turned enemies, learn to forgive and follow their heart?

I love a second chance romance, I was routing so hard for Leo and Annabelle! I loved to see Leo's caring side for his mum alongside the dual POV to see what both Leo and Annabelle were feeling.
We see body positivity through our FMC, Annabelle - representing mid/plus size women, and working through insecurities.
Overall this was a fast, light hearted, festive read to get you in the mood for the Christmas season, alongside seeing favoured tropes through our main characters' relationship.

could have been sorted in 20 pages

“Grand we’ll carry on then”
it was okay? Did not particularly like the setting nor the characters nor the resolution just really ✨ blank ✨
The relationship between her and her mother was incredibly toxic and to be wrapped up with simply “ I’m envious of you” was such a silly message ? And not an ounce of development was seen within the fmc’s relationship to her brother and father minus her dad wears Christmas clothing for the whole of December and that her brother is the very definition of weaponised incompetence 🧍♀️
Leo was Leo …. an ego bigger than his dick and possibly the most forgettable mmc I have ever read 😭 I absolutely adored the fire scene and I enjoyed his personality MUCH more than the fmc ( who I mean I cannot even remember her name and I just finished it) but they both just did not mesh together. I mean girl, you absolutely hated this man but all of a sudden then you were ready to jump his bones, and then you felt a dramatic monologue was needed…. Genuinely for fucks sake go and shag something else 👍
However it was a super easy read and the plot definitely kept me interested! Miscommunication at its very finest 👏

On my naughty list was a super sweet, fluffy Christmas rom-com. Honestly, reading it in summer was like an early Christmas present. I live for a sweet HEA and this was exactly that!
I will always eat up a childhood crush, next door neighbor, or brother’s best friend so the fact that this was all of them was perfection.
I loved Annie. I’m happy I’m the end she got both her career and her perfect guy. Same with Leo. This was a shorter book but I still felt that I could see both characters work through their problems both with each other and separately within the book. The dual pov def helped as well!
I will say I am not normally one to love a miscommunication between the MCs but this one wasn’t too bad for me and I was certainly shocked to find out why they hated each other!
Overall, I would def recommend OMNL to get into an early Christmas mood or save it for a cozy little read when it starts to get cold!

I really really enjoyed this book! If you’re looking for a cozy, Hallmark-esque story, then this is it! It has some of the best tropes: Brothers best friend, childhood friends to lovers, forced proximity, small town romance.
Anabelle returns to her hometown for the holidays, but isn’t looking forward to it. She has anxiety of coming back to a place filled with bad high school memories, and a family or mother rather that is always belittling her. Hence why she never visits. After a falling out with her childhood friend and neighbor, Leo, years ago, she would of course run into him while out. And so the dance of angst and love begin.
I also really liked how the Dual POV chapters overlapped so you got to read both of their views in certain scenarios.
While this is a closed door romance, the way the author described her actions and described the chemistry , you got the full picture of the kind of spice they were doing. I thought it was written great!

After nearly a decade away, Anabelle returns home to spend the holidays with her family and immediately regrets her decision. Not only does her critical mom still treat her like a child, she keeps bumping into her long-ago crush Leo, who hurt her badly years ago. Leo, in the meantime, is dealing with work pressures and the fact that his father left them, and all he wants is to spend a quiet Christmas with his mom. And then Anabelle shows up, reminding him of how she broke his heart. But their old feelings for each other are still there, and as the truth about their shared heartbreak begins to reveal itself, they find heir way back together again.
A nice, feel-good romance that would have been better without the childish meltdowns.
