This set includes all three books of the "The Coffee House Chronicles" "Is the Bible True...Really?: A Dialogue on Skepticism, Evidence, and Truth"; "Who Is Jesus...Really?: A Dialogue on God, Man, and Grace"; and "Did the Resurrection Happen...Really?: A Dialogue on Life, Death, and Hope."
With over 40 million books sold, bestselling author Josh McDowell is no stranger to creatively presenting biblical truth. Now, partnering with fellow apologist Dave Sterrett, Josh introduces a new series targeted at the intersection of story and truth."The Coffee House Chronicles" are short, easily devoured novellas aimed at answering prevalent spiritual questions. Each book in the series tackles a long-contested question of the faith, and then answer these questions with truth through relationships and dialogue in each story.

In "Is the Bible True, Really?: A Dialogue on Skepticism, Evidence, and Truth," we meet Nick, a college freshman at a state school in Texas. Nick has his spiritual world turned upside-down with what he hears in an introduction to religion class. His questions turn into conversations as he dialogues with professors, friends, and family about the authenticity and authority of the Bible.
In "Who is Jesus, Really?: A Dialogue on God, Man, and Grace," the group of students now meeting at the coffee house at a college town in Texas come face-to-face with the implications of the person and works of Jesus Christ. Their questions and conversations lead them to creatively respond to a well-known Atheist about Jesus' claims and actions.

In "Did the Resurrection Happen, Really?: A Dialogue on Life, Death, and Hope," the college campus is rocked by a shooting spree that leaves nine students dead. Their up-close experience with mortality allies the coffee house discussion group together to really wrestle with the spiritual and eternal ramifications of whether or not Jesus rose from the dead.

These three small books are specifically geared toward those in, or about to go into college. What’s unique about them is that they are written in a dialogue format as a story. While each book can be read as a stand-alone, they follow a set of characters made up of college students and professors.

This indirect format, along with the brevity of the books, makes them especially easy (and fun) to read.

The books address some of the most common experiences, questions and objections students encounter while in college. The books are entitled:

1. Is the Bible True…Really?
2. Who is Jesus…Really?
3. Did the Resurrection Happen…Really?

Some of the issues the characters face include blind faith and doubt, sex and dating, school shootings and tragedy. Through class lectures, debates, and coffee shop conversations, they confront questions that touch on the reliability of the Bible, Messianic prophecy and miracles, Jesus as a historical figure, the deity and resurrection of Jesus, and the hope of heaven. There is even some humor mixed in here and there.

The authors do well to present some excellent research and citations that point to very important implications. I recommend reading and gifting these books to people, not just in college, but anyone wrestling with these same questions.

Here Are Some of My Favorite Lines from the Series:

1. “Before even considering if God inspired a group of books and letters, a skeptic should ask if he is even open to the possibility of believing that God exists, assuming evidence is provided.”
2. “If the first miracle of Genesis 1:1 took place, then other miracles are possible.”
3. “Paul wasn’t calling [people] to a blind faith, but to a faith based on a historical event – the resurrection of Christ.”
4. “Based on what Jesus claimed about Himself, if His claims were not true, you couldn’t call Him either a good moral man or a great prophet.”
5. “Only something clean can cleanse something dirty.”
6. “God can’t do everything. He can’t do things that are contrary to His nature.”
7. “There are more non-Christian sources that reference Jesus than Caesar.”
8. “People may die for a lie they think is true, but they won’t die for a lie they know to be false.”
9. “The resurrection of Jesus is not just a single detached article of faith. It is woven into the very structure of Christian life and thought.”

This isn't a bad book. In fact, some of the material within it was very interesting. I just think it was aimed at a younger age range than myself. So I can't rave over it. Glad I read it.

These novellas are a great way to learn how to answer skeptics' questions about the Bible, Jesus and the resurrection! For me, they will be a resource to go back to as needed.

These books are a great set of stories that teach Biblical truth. They have encouraged me to dig deeper into apologetics.
