Tania Marshall is a 2017-2015 ASPECT Autism Australia recognition awards nominee, a twice Gold medal best-selling author, presenter, free-lance writer and psychologist. Her first book, I Am AspienGirl was released on June 20th, 2014 as an eBook. It went to the #1 Amazon Australia best seller ranking in 3 categories on July 4th, 2014. It also reached the #2 ranking on Amazon USA and was recently awarded a 2015 IPPY eLIT Gold Medal Award. Tania's second book entitled I Am AspienWoman was released August 28th and reached #1 best seller status in its' first week of release in the Parenting Children with Disabilities and Autism categories. It also received and IPPY eLIT Gold Medal in Women's Issues.

Tania has worked in the area of child psychology, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, the gifted and talented, highly sensitive persons (HSP), twice-exceptionality (2e)l and developmental conditions for 20 years, in a variety of roles. She has worked in private school, hospital and private practice settings. Tania holds a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Currently, Tania works in private practice with individuals who have/are Asperger syndrome, autism, highly sensitive, gifted, twice-exceptional (2e), anxiety, OCD, depression and/or learning differences.

Tania has worked with hundreds of females who have been misdiagnosed, are 'self-diagnosed' or had some of the defining characteristics of Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning Autism, Giftedness, Empaths and highly sensitive individuals, who have flown under the radar. Many of these individuals have a stunning array of gifts and talents, in addition to challenges. This particular group of individuals tend to have some the characteristic traits of Asperger Syndrome or High Functioning Autism or Neurodiversity, but often present differently, confusing professionals. The field of female Autism/Neurodiversity is a very new area of research, and as such, very little is known.

In private practice, Tania was seeing more and more females being referred to her, who presented with a number of diagnoses, who had not been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Condition, yet had some features of Autism. This peaked her interest as she found it a fascinating area of research. This interest combined with the lack of knowledge, resources and awareness of females was the reason Tania decided to create the AspienGirl® Project, consisting of education, awareness, advocacy and philanthropy.

Tania wrote her first book, in a series, on female Autism, entitled, "I Am AspienGirl®: The Unique Characteristics, Traits and Gifts of Females on the Autism Spectrum". The Foreward was written by world expert Dr. Judith Gould, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Director of the NAS Lorna Wing Centre for Autism, UK. Testimonials have been provided also by world experts Dr. Temple Grandin and Dr. Shana Nichols. This amazing group of females are trailblazers in their own right and Tania is most grateful to have their support.

2.5 stars. This was an odd book. Each page had a quote from an "AspienGirl", another from some sort of adult caregiver (parents, teachers, grandparents, psychologists, etc), and a photo. The appendices had additional detail about typical characteristics/symptoms of females with Aspergers/high functioning autism and how female characteristics differ from those of males. The overall effect was chaotic and shallow. Plus the whole "AspienGirl"(r) annoyed me...

The must have book for parents, educators, family members, siblings of young girls with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. A book that is also interactive and relevant to young AspienGirls themselves also, something they can own that will help them see that they have amazing strengths and qualities. A fantastic and very timely book, much needed.

With the increasing awareness that indeed Autism Spectrum conditions are present in girls/women as well as boys/men, books like this are powerful. Too many girls are flying under the diagnostic radar at home, school, in the doctor's office, even with Child Psychiatrists. Why? Because it was never thought for YEARS that girls could even be on the Autism Spectrum, combine that with different traits shown in girls than boys plus a lack of education about girls and we get a huge lack of knowledge in this area.

Quite simply, females were falling through the diagnostic cracks.

Tania Marshall has filled this gap and done it really well. This unique book is stunning, with gorgeous photographs, messages and quotes from REAL girls with an Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as their parents and family. It's educational, interesting and very, very easy to digest. You won't find long chapters of confusing psychobabble in this book, and thank goodness for that, most of those books go over the head of the average seeker of information.

Included also are very useful indexes of the traits you may see in girls with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, collated from Tania's years of experience in diagnosing and working with such girls and women. There are tables that show HOW the traits show up differently in boys versus girls that is very helpful also.

We have pages of AspienGirl mentors, young women who are available to be looked up on the internet and used as a role model and mentor for other young girls who may relate to their individual strengths.

The quotes and words in this book speak volumes, they come direct from the hearts and minds of those that know best - girls with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Who better to learn off?

I wish I had this book when I was a young girl, undiagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, I wish my parents had access to this book, I wish my teachers had a copy of this book, it's an absolute goldmine of information help and positivity. It took 42 years for my Aspergers to be diagnosed, this book will go a long way to ensuring that more and more young girls are captured with a diagnosis early on so that they can receive the understanding and support they need.

I absolutely LOVE the focus on strengths and special attributes in this book as well as the well presented messages on the challenges faced.

Don't even hesitate on buying this book if you have or suspect you have an AspienGirl in your life. She will love it too. A great book to read together. This one gets an easy five stars from me for both it's content and presentation. A stunning book that you can share with anyone that wants to learn about the special traits and also the difficulties that young girls on the Autism Spectrum face in everyday life.

I received a copy of this book thanks to the author, Tania Marshall in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Not very original, quite generic and not all based on scientific evidence.

Really lovely book. It is a picture book designed to teach and help both parents and child. There is a lot to love about it.

This is a picture book with inspiration quotes. There are 126 pages of short quotes and the pictures are very nice. If that was what it was then it would have gone up a couple of stars. The jarring thing is that the author adds to each page her logo for the book and a registered icon (r). That is not necessary for a book and turns what could have been inspiring into a cheap marketing opportunity. I’m a little dubious on giving it to my daughter now because it seems like some kind of propaganda exercise...

I enjoyed the book. It kind of feels like a coffee table book in that most of it pictures + quotes. It's very approachable as an introductory read and to illustrate just how broad ranging presentation can be in girls. There is more information in the back about signs to look for but it is very much an introductory book.

Una guía introductoria

Excelente guía resumen sobre las particularidades del autismo en niñas y mujeres. No es especializado, así que es recomendable para toda audiencia, incluso niños (al menos en su primer apartado de imágenes)

Great, informative resource

A great resource for anyone who works with females who are on the spectrum. It has some very helpful tools in the back and outlines the differences between males and females who are on the autism spectrum in a meaningful and easy to follow format.

eye opening series of quotes that helps to illustrate how different the Autistic/Aspergers female and male are by highlighting the behaviors and thoughts of the female Aspien. Very inspirational.

No lo considero un libro,

Esperaba más, deja mucho que desear. El material es para una publicación de en un blog, no de un libro, y menos a ese precio.
