Author essays and excerpts from forthcoming fiction by Jill McCorkle, Julie Wu, Caroline Leavitt, Susan Nussbaum, David Samuel Levinson, and Rebecca Lee.
A biannual publication for friends of Algonquin Books.
Five of Jill McCorkle's seven previous books have been named New York Times Notables. Winner of the New England Booksellers Award, the Dos Passos Prize for Excellence in Literature, and the North Carolina Award for Literature, she has taught writing at the University of North Carolina, Bennington College, Tufts University, and Harvard. She lives near Boston with her husband, their two children, several dogs, and a collection of toads.
The Algonquin Reader provides sneak previews (summaries and excerpts) of their publications. I find the Reader essential in choosing new books to purchase or borrow, mostly because I have been well rewarded with those books introduced to me in its pages. I strongly recommend that every true book-lover at least peruse Algonquin's free Readers which are published at four (4) Times per year. A trustworthy, informative example of how a publisher forges a loyal and beneficial bond with its readership.
