Fun story. Kids would love it.

With the world population ever increasing, how is it possible for Santa to visit all the homes on Christmas Eve? By creating a new position called South Pole Santa. Sandra has just won the South Pole Santa Competition (I think this story was in volume 1 of this series). She lives on the (fictional) island of St Annalise in the Caribbean where there is a school for elves and fairies and the like. As she is soon to turn 18 years old, she is discovering about her magic powers through her locket and ring. She is a royal elf from the Leezle family but no one knows this yet. The locket protects her from the dark forces that want to destroy her.

Word has spread throughout the world about the new South Pole Santa. And, it´s not good news either. The world is protesting. Besides going on a world tour to quash the bad press, Sandra must oversee the building of the village at the South Pole and find her transportation She wants something new for transportation, not the reindeer team that Santa uses. She soon finds Emaralda, Em for short, who is a delgin which is an elf who can turn herself into dragon, albeit a friendly dragon.

A delightful story except that it ends with a cliffhanger. After distributing toys on Christmas Eve with Santa (she's still in training), she and Em never made it home to the island of St Annalise. That story, apparently, is the third book in this series.

I enjoyed this book. I can see it as an animated film....

3.5 stars rounded up

I know I'm not the intended audience for this book, so I rounded up my rating, as I'm sure the younger set will enjoy it more than I did.

The characters are (mostly) a fun group who are very enthusiastic about Christmas and all that goes with it, but said enthusiasm can be a bit much at times. I liked the explanation of the ... in the title - and in Sandra's name - but again, that can be carried a little too far.

This book ended on a cliffhanger, one of my least favorite literary devices - so I'll look for the next book in the series, if only to learn what happens next.

If you love Christmas, and elves, no matter your age, you will love this series. first Sandra has to overcome people's idea that Santa must be a man, and an OLD man. Then she has to deal with the year round issues of being Santa, and the transportation difficulties of doing her major job in one night.
This is a story about overcoming obstacles, being kind to one another and following your dreams.
