I need answers about Erica!! Her and Liam’s growth together and his ‘touch her and X’ vibes was … whooo! This world building was so well written and I’m excited for the next book!
I received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own!
Good lord. Am I supposed to root for the FMC to be with her mate that slammed her head against a wall and kidnapped her? Or for his father the Alpha that slapped her so hard she hit the wall? And for an FMC who is torn away from the only family she has known, she got over them pretty fast when presented with some expensive gifts and new friends. And I won't even start on the flirting with her abusive mate cause he is just so hot. No matter how many times she tells him to stop touching her he just SAs her anyway. Kinda hilarious when the FMC is attacked by a pack member and the Alpha says he will not tolerate sexual assault of one his pack. Dude, look at your own son the SAer. What a Prince. This book made me nauseous.
I made it to chapter 12. I just can’t root for these characters. Their meet cute was violent and disturbing. Showcased the MMCs volatile temper immediately and every scene he was in after just added on.
The abuse in chapter 11 is not for me. Sadly I see in other reviews that it only gets worse.
Firstly, I did enjoy this book. Parts may have been predictable but I’m okay with that.
Secondly, I deducted one star due to the following:- the proof reading wasn’t good, words were missing, I can cope with these a few times but it gets annoying if it happens often. There were a lot of paragraph repeats, where there didn’t need to be as it followed it on anyway.
Thirdly, the author calls them werewolves but in my mind they are wolf shifters, a little thing but it threw me a few times 🤷🏻♀️ In one part of the book, our FMC holds down and shows another girl her eyes changing colour, her demeanour becoming dominant and her strength grow, she did this before when she was angry. However, a few chapters along our FMC finds herself in the locker room faced with a wolf shifter (the girl from aboves’ brother) determined to rape her, maim her, kill her etc. and she can’t muster her inner dominance, strength, claws or eye colour change for this one, now this I attempted to understand with the fact she was afraid therefore not angry but I just don’t see it 🤷🏻♀️ if anyone has an idea why let me know please.
I am off to read the next book cos this one ended on a cliffhanger 🧗
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Overall, I really did like the storyline of the book. Fated mates is a strong theme with the constant potential of rejected mates, creating the ultimate will-they, won't-they.
That being said, I was constantly hoping for a "won't-they." Liam gives the vibe of entitled, bratty rich boy that always gets his way or he throws a tantrum....literally - it happened multiple times. Further, his friends and family feed into it by babying him. Any wrongdoings don't EVEN receive a slap on the wrist. Just an "I'm disappointed in you" comment. He is a walking red flag that gives me major ick, and even though Erica appears to be strong-willed, she just gives in and forgets his numerous past transgressions. I am sure there are many out there that love MMCs like this, but Liam is not for me.
Another thing that I struggled with was the editing. There were several punctuation errors and misspellings (not counting UK spellings). There were a lot of random spaces between paragraphs that kept making me think time had passed, but it didn't. I think the dialogue editing was the hardest for me, though. There are many instances where two different characters' dialogs are in one paragraph, or where a single character's dialog was split between two one-sentence paragraphs. I frequently had to spend extra time trying to figure out what was going on in conversations. I found the poor editing really took away from the reading experience and the immersion into the story.
Despite my complaints, however, I found myself eager to know what would happen next, and I will continue to the next book in the series.
I was given an ARC in exchange for a honest review so let’s get into it!
OMFG, this book had me pulled in from page one, the world building, the characters, the whirlwind of emotions this book took me through, my heart broken in the ending. NOTE ITS ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER. I’ve gone from confusing, to angry to frustrated to so happy and then the cycle repeats. So many emotions and you don’t even know what’s gonna come next! Throughout this book the main character Erica and Liam has such an on and off relationship throughout the book, really it’s been pushing and pulling. Their relationship is so emotional and at times it’s really filled my heart with love but that ending😡 how could he do that to her, say it right in front of her! My anger at Liam is on until book 2 when we figure out how he’s gonna fix this one😡poor Erica, she’s been through so much and learning how to trust again after the trauma she had been put through since a child book 2 she’s going to be stuck back to square one and I’m ready to hear him Liam is gonna fix it. Iron chains for a week 😡 I’m SO excited to for book 2 so we all can figure out what Erica really is. The story line for this book is amazing! You ALL need to give it a read I swear it’s worth it.
Before starting this series I felt like I had hit a brick wall with reading, nothing seemed to peak my interest enough to bring me back to my love for reading. From the first page I found myself gripped. the twists and turns throughout this book keep you hooked from start to end. If you are looking for a fantasy/werewolf series with some smut thrown in too, than Aisling has the book for you.
who knew werewolves could have so much drama. I loved the fact it was UK based too it felt personal like I could relate knowing the places mentioned. Thank you for opening my love for books again I cannot wait to continue the series and see where this amazing story line goes. Lx
This was a really quick and easy read. It had all the best tropes for a shifter romance - No wolf, chosen one, unraveled history, found family, fated mates. It all started with a prophecy and a wolf that couldn't shift. Erica had spent a lot of time on the run with her pack who wasn't supposed to exist. Until they were found.
It was fun and quick but at the same time I feel like its something I have read a hundred times before.
This was a roller-coaster. I need to know what happens with Liam and Erica. I need to know what she is and who she will become. Their relationship was so up and down, exciting and frustrating which makes waiting for the next book exciting and frustrating lol! The twists and turns (some expected of course lol) just added to the frustration but kept the plot interesting. Can't wait for the one!
Wolf's, curses and secrets, they all intertwine in this masterpiece of fated mates! Liam is an overbearing Alphahole and Erica is a strong willed slightly broken wolf who just wants to be accepted and loved for who she is, even the broken parts. This was an emotional ride I highly recommend reading.
The prophecy at the beginning really sucked me in. 😍 Overall, the book was pretty good. It was kind of a rollercoaster of emotions and would go from slow to fast-paced. I'm a little upset with the ending as it ends in a cliffhanger, and I feel like nothing was really answered. I'll definitely be reading the prequel and next book to get answers, though!
The book was really good i honestly loved it and the only thing keeping me from a five star is that there were parts that i felt were too rushed or didn’t make sense like the fmc hatred for the mmc seemed to just disappear without much effort but honestly i can’t wait to see how the story continues on because that cliff hanger was great and frustrating all at once
This is a great story!! We follow erica and Liam who are fated mates.. Learning to trust an alpha and a pack is hard for Erica due to her past.. can she learn to trust Liam and the people in his pack? Can Liam convince erica that he isn’t like other alphas and get her to fall or him?? Or will they tear each other apart? You’ve gotta read to find out
This book is soooo amazing!!!!!! 10/10 best wolf shifter book I've probably ever read!!! If fast paced lots of action and so much angst!!! The fmc has some trauma from her past and some of the things the mmc does just makes you want to beat his head in!!! But it all works itself out.. I hope hahaha very good story
I did enjoy this book, felt a little YA from my usual taste, but still had me hooked l needing more.
Full of rollcoasters of twists and plots. So many secrets and half truths to be discovered.
I need to know what happens with Eric and Liam! He can't be the Alphahole he acts. The cliffhanger at the end, will absolutely be reading book 2 because I need answers!
This book is so incredibly gripping! I was completely hooked and couldn't set it aside. The plot twists took me by surprise, and I found myself utterly engrossed in Erica and Liam's relationship. Despite Liam's initial overbearing nature, I'm totally rooting for them and can't wait to uncover what unfolds next!
What a great start to the series! Love the dynamic between the 2 leads, and all of Liam's possessiveness included! Great world and character building with a hint of mystery/prophecy! What is Erica!?! What is she suppose to do? Love it! Cannot wait for book 2!
Wow what a great story. Fantastic storyline. So many twists that I was not expecting. First time reading from this author and omg I can’t wait to read more. Love love these characters. I so need the next book!!! Definitely recommend reading. So so good!!
Loved the werewolf vibes it was giving, the rollercoster of a love story as it goes from slow burn to fast-paced. Lots unanswered questions, I need to know what happens next book. Overall, I enjoyed this book as it was an easy read.
The prophecy at the beginning had me hooked!! What can I say Erica has me wanting to cry & pull her in for a hug at times but want to scream at her at others. The twist were perfect. Can’t wait to read Bound by Rivalry
Ah, thoroughly enjoyed this book. I often find shifter romances can go either way, but Aisling did it so well. She even made me feel emotional at times. I do think we need to see a little growth in Liam, but he is getting there. Hopefully we will see Erica growing in trust too.
Not the best book I’ve read, the writing seams quite juvenile but i still read the whole thing. Doesn’t really make a lot of sense main guy is an asshole well most the men characters are not the nicest in this and the FMC is trying to come across as a badass but is really a soggy sponge !!!
Ugh! Came so close to DNF, overuse of the word baby, excessive violence and then almost immediate forgiveness. Character development almost non existent.
I enjoyed the premise but could have been executed better.
I persevered to finish this but won't be reading the rest of the series.
Omfg this book had me hooked from the get go, loved the world building. The characters make you laugh, cry and want to punch them. I need to know what Liam will do now, will Erica get out, but most importantly will she wipe the floor with Heidi.
I was lucky wnough to receive this as an ARC and this was such a fabulous read!!! Between the world building and growth between Erica and Liam I completely devoured this book!!!
I love a wolf shifter book but my god I found the fmc so enraging and such a brat 😂 I know she’s damaged but stop kicking men in the balls and talk it out 😅
