Haunted Souls #15

Ghost Friends Forever

Rate this book
What if your imaginary friend wasn’t so imaginary after all?

Detective Jude Byrne, sick of working alleged cases of infidelity, takes on client Sam Jones, a man looking to reconnect with his first love. As the search for Greta begins, Jude realizes Sam might be the reason his lost love has fallen off the grid. Determined to discover the truth at all costs, Jude tracks down the woman, who has her own version of events, making him wonder if Sam is more dangerous than he originally thought.

Meanwhile, psychic Copeland Forbes has his hands full with West Side Magick’s newest employee, tarot reader, Bozeman Fields. The two were business rivals during their days in New Orleans until Bozeman mysteriously closed up shop and inexplicably vanished ten years ago. Cope senses there’s something off about the man when he hears him arguing with himself in a seemingly empty room, but bides his time as no one else notices anything is amiss.

While keeping an eye on Bozeman, Cope overhears him yelling at an unseen foe, threatening to kill whoever is harassing him. When questioned about the bizarre incident, the psychic breaks down and tells a harrowing story about Indigo, his imaginary friend from childhood, who refuses to leave his side.

Who is Indigo? What is his endgame? More importantly, why has Jude and Cope’s young son started talking to an imaginary friend of his own?

Another great haunted addition to the series!
This is a great story that I could not put down. I voluntarily decided to write this review based on an ARC of this story. The story kept me enthralled with all the twists and turns I didn't see coming. The new tarot card reader Bozeman comes with some baggage, a ghost seems to be out for revenge, the kids go to school for the first time, and Ronan & Jude think they have found a nice and easy assignment for their PI business with finding a high school sweetheart, but nothing is what it seems to be .... I loved the flow of this story and the way it switched between West Side Magick and Bozeman, the PI company and the kids, light-hearted fun, a little drama and nail-biting suspense. This is a paranormal suspense romance, but the focus is on suspense, solving cases and family with a little romance thrown into the mix. The characters are likable, the villains nasty and the world-building is solid. I very much enjoyed reading this story, can't wait for the next one.
All the stories in this series have a clear HEA/HFN ending and can be read on their own, but the world-building spans the entire series, so I prefer to read the books in order.

This is a great installment in the West Side Magick universe.

As the guys become more and more popular, they expand and hire a new tarot reader, an old accquaintance of Cope's from New Orleans. Bozeman was a sucessful tarot reader until one day he vanished. While concerned, Cope is trying to stay open to him but his strange behaviour is causing more and more problems.

When he confesses about an imaginary friend he has since his dad died and not leaving him alone, cauing a mental breakdown in the past, the gang is starting to wonder if there is more to it. When digging deeper into it, it gets dangerous for them and Cope has to make peace again with his powers he put aside.

Jude, Rowan and Kevin are hunting an old girlfriend of a client who doesn't seem to be so clear cut as originally thought.

I really love these characters and the overlapping world the author created. There is a good deal of supernatural, the characters develop further and the kids are becoming more and more characters of their own, especially Everly who starts to develop her powers in a faster way than her dads would like.

The books have to be read in order to make sense, not just in by series, better is by publication date as the two series overlap too much.

This was a fantastic story. You know from the prologue that Indigo will be an important character later on but not how. Jude and Ronan are tasked with looking up an ex-girlfriend of their client but have had no luck finding her and that is a definite red flag. I liked how they looked for her and how they obtained the information that they needed and didn't reveal anything to him.
The new tarot card reader Bozeman Fields puzzled Cope because he couldn't read him at all and background checks revealed a 5 year gap in his life that was unexplained. And later he and Ten tried reading him and are violently shoved back. And Bozeman is heard shouting to someone in one of the reading rooms but no one is there. Finding out he is being pursued by his imaginary friend Indigo from his childhood is spooky and when he is banished later Wolf is affected. Everly came into her true powers then and it was frightening to see the battle over a little boy but the ending was wonderful and I was emotionally drained myself. I love these stories and look forward to the opening of the
Cold Case unit in October.

Another great return to the Haunted Souls series. Things are moving along for the PI and Majick shop as renovations are underway for the business and their new hire, Bozeman, arrives. Everyone loves him but Copeland feels like there's something under the surface that he's hiding. There is also a new case for Jude, Ronan and Fitzgibbon that looks simple upfront but it's never as simple as it seems.
The gang are all doing well at the moment, Cope and Jude now have Lizbet home with Wolf, the older kids have started kindergarten which always comes with a little drama. Things with Bozeman slowly build up as information is uncovered but it quickly gets darker and involves all of the team to try and solve it. When it then involves Wolf, fear and guilt become involved and everyone wants this case over with as soon as possible. What I especially loved was getting to see more of just how strong Everly is and what is possible for her future. It's also good to have someone new join the Cold Case/Haunted Souls family that can expand the family and bring fresh blood to the stories, though hopefully not literally!
Another recommended read from Pandora Pine, I can't wait for the next in this paranormal world she had created.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I am late to the party with this series, this is only the second book I’ve read from Haunted Souls. I love that this is an established couple with an already happy family life, which is hard to find. The mystery here is well done, the author very skillful in creating a creepy vibe around Jude’s new client Sam, and his quest to find his lost love. There is also drama with the newest employee at West Side Magick, Bozeman is an old NOLA colleague of Cope’s. I loved the premise of a ghostly haunting being diagnosed as mental illness. The ghost here is Indigo, who has a sad story but is also quite menacing. Indigo is a pretty compelling and spooky adversary, especially when he sets his sights on a new target. The characters and world building are well done. I especially loved the domestic bits with Cope, Jude and their kids, very sweet counterpoint to drama of their work.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Family forever!

I absolutely love this series so much! There is so much heart and love in each and every book. The storyline is always intriguing and keeps me turning the pages. The characters are like family to me at this point and I relish every new release in these series so I can spend more time with them.

In this book we get to meet a new character that I'm very excited to get to know in the coming future of this series and he, unfortunately, brought an unwelcome guest with him. So we get to see the gang come together to help Bozeman and solve other cases along the way. We also get to see a bit more from the kids in this book as they are starting to step up as their gifts grow as they do.

I can't wait until the next book and I would definitely recommend reading this series.

Finally there is Magic

When a new person starts working at the shop as a tarot card reader Cope feels that something is wrong. This man Bozeman Fields is a friend from Copeland's life in New Orleans but he just vanished one night never to return. Something is not right but Cope will do what he can to help him. Its time for him to resurrect his family legacy to protect his friend and his Son from an angry spirit that hitchhiked into their lives. Everly is amazing with her heart and her powers. She will protect Wolf and Aurora with everything she's got. Cope should have never changed what was a intricate part of who he is. He is a powerful psychic and powerful Legacy witch and he should always embrace it. Now we just need Jude to remember that his Phoenix is still with him.

Bozeman, the new tarot reader brings danger and intrigue.  I love that the West Side Magick shop is getting a new psychic who has a very interesting history.  Jude and Ronan also get a new case that is filled with surprises.

Cope and Jude are the main couple in this series and it was so cool to catch up with them and see them together with their family.  We did get to see most of the rest of the group from West Side Magick and little Everly and Wolf have key roles.  Just love this series!

This is book fifteen of the Haunted Souls series and would be best enjoyed if read as part of the series.  There are lots of recurring characters that make up the West Side Magick group.

I was gifted this book from Gay Romance Reviews and i freely give my honest opinion and review.

Totally fun! We are introduced to Indigo in the beginning who meets an untimely end. Then we join Jude who tentatively decides to take on a missing person case. Copeland is suspicious about a new hire Bozeman who's vibes are off. Copeland, overhears Bozeman yelling at someone sounding a bit discombobulated and offers to help. The kids Wolfe, Everly and Aurora are absolutely delightful. There are mysteries, unanswered questions, lots of fun and bonding. Nothing seems to be as it seems and everything inspires more questions. Finding out the who and the why and the when and the how make good reads. Lotsa fun and I look forward to more stories. Fantastic characters, great mysteries. Well done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this original and absolutely compelling new Haunted Souls book. Fifteen books in, and the author continues to come up with new and exciting characters, circumstances and stories. And each is captivating and spooky, This book actually includes two stories. First, West Side Magick gets a new employee, a tarot reader who comes with some baggage...of the supernatural kind. Then, Ronan and Jude take a job to help a man find his first love...but does she want be found, or is she 'lost' for a reason. I love these stories and how the author balances family domestic life with the cases. I loved the way the group all came together to help Bozeman, and protect their own (which Bozeman is now one of.)

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Arrrrgh

There are unmitigated wonderful deep characters and some great stories way down inside. Hetero normative is all these books are. So much bs that you can skip whole pages, the constant Whining how shitty they are as parents how hard they try to be straight people living in a non gay society. Acting all non paranormal. Not one of them study their craft till a problem pops up oh oh and constantly put it off till tomorrow. These extremely strong as there written seem to have any strength at all its all blocked or fuzzy till the problem is on top of them do they look for spells or solutions. As much potential these characters and stories have and I do love them. I am going to stop reading them.

Jude, Cope and the entire gang are back to solve not one but two cases. The newest member of the family Bozeman has a secret…one that only a family can overcome. The entire family has to band together to save one of their own. We see Everly beginning to come into her gift and her skill level is such she is more powerful than all her family combined. If one case wasn’t enough Jude, Ronan and Fitz are tasked with a case to reunite high school sweethearts…but there is more to this case than meets the eye. Join Jude and Cope and their extensive extended family for the latest cases and meet the newest family member.

Another great book added to this series. We have our band of friends wanting to bring in a tarot reader and they hire Bozeman. What they don't is that know is there is something going with him. Cope on first meeting feels something, but he isn't sure what is going on either. So, while that is going on, our detective side have been hired by a guy who is looking to find his girlfriend from high school. He broke up with her before he went off to college but has regretted it since then. I do not want to give any spoilers, but there are twists & turns on both sides, Bozeman and why the client can't find the girl. I can't wait to see where the author goes next.

I received a copy of this book from the Author, and this is my honest review.

I still love this universe! Usually after revisiting the same characters over an extended period of time, things tend to get predictable and stale. Not in Salem! Every new book feels like I am revisiting old friends. This story finds West Side Magik looking to add a tarot card reader to their family. They hire Bozeman Fields who, on the surface is talented and a good fit, but he has a secret. His imaginary friend is not imaginary or friendly. The family is called into battle to rid their new brother of his spiritual parasite. The highlight of this series for me, is Miss Everly! I love seeing her grow into her power and I am waiting eagerly to see who she will become

Appearances can be deceiving

What’s on the surface is many times only a tiny portion of the truth and that’s more than true in this latest Haunted Souls. Both Jude and Cope face situations where they have to dig under the illusions to find and solve the real problem. The Westside Magic gang plus kids and friends are in fine form here and Little Miss Everly shines as always. I’m excited to see how new tarot reader Bozeman gets folded into the “family” and I hope the next adventure includes Running Eagle’s visit and teachings.

Another fast paced ghost adventure for two of my favorite characters from this author. Jude and Cope have held my heart since their first book and I have enjoyed reading their stories and watching their family grow. An old friend of Cope's from New Orleans show up to work with the band of psychics and brings with him an unwanted guest. Trying to figure out the past and protect their new coworker and son, the duo and their friends must work fast. I read this one in just a day as I could not put it down.

Another awesome book in this series. Jude is tasked to find an ex-girlfriend for a client. As both Ronan and Jude look back to see if they can find her, they come across one of her friends who reached out to her. In the meantime, Bozeman gets hired to work at West Side Magick after being f the grid for 5 years. When they finally figure it who is it, they all worked together to solve that mystery. Great fast paced book with with Everly playing a huge part in it. Loved it and cannot wait for more.

Great story as always.

PP writes great stories and I've followed all of them. A little on the pricy side but so well written it's worth the extra money. Some do come through a little on the weak side but I've really enjoyed all of them. Great to see gay families as they continue to grow. The magic shop, woven in with detectives just great but just give the poor police chief of Salem town a break. The poor guy is working himself into an early grave. Please tell us more about his family!

The West Side Magick shop is expanding. When they hire a psychic tarot card reader, he brings along a powerful spirit who has been trying to drive the man insane. In order to defeat the spirit, Cope is going to have to return back to the magic he gave up a year ago. Its going to take Jude, Cope, Ten and little Everly to win the day.
Quick, fun read. Always a pleasure to spend time with the found family of WSM.

How do the books keep getting better?! I have read all the Haunted Souls books and I always think "how will the next one be better?" then it is!!!

In this one, we have an interesting case that appears to be finding someone's lost love while a new psychic joins West Side Magick that Cope knows from New Orleans. You will be left so speechless as the story unfolds and what you find out. It is absolutely enthralling.

This was an especially scary entry in the series for me and I loved it. Trying to figure out exactly what was going on with Sam and Greta, the woman he hires Jude to find and soon wondering along with them if they haven't made a mistake. The second story hits close to home for them when tarot reader Bozeman's "imaginary" friend is all that imaginary and just what his endgame is. This one is a high point in this long-running series.

I really enjoy this series. The books are such an easy read, with characters who now feel like old friends. In this one we have witches, ghosts and a stalker! Great characters, especially in Ronan and Jude, and a lot of family love interwoven in with the supernatural shenanigans. I did feel sorry for the 'baddie' mind, he'd had a pretty horrible life, being a victim of emotional abuse when he was a child, I kind of didn't totally believe that he deserved his fate. Oh well, Ms Pine certainly has a good imagination. An entertaining read, when you don't want anything too demanding. 3.5 stars.

Don't Mess with Little Miss Everly!!

Wow just wow! Ghost Friends Forever has everything. A genuinely nasty and unrepentant baddie, a brilliant story, the characters are as fab as ever, Everly is genuinely terrifying and there's lots of Wolfie!!! Maybe in time we'll see a bit more of little Aurora! Amazing book.

The drama, the mystery and the excitement all blend themselves into this story captivating the audience. Another success to add to this author’s credit. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

Ghost Friends Forever

Oh man. Who knew Everly was going to be so powerful. She's going to be the protector of the group. I hope there's eventually going to be a spin off from all the kids. I think that would be fantastic. I hated what Ben did to Indigo, but what Indigo did was worse. I loved reading this story.

Why I like but not usually love the books where Jude and Cope are the MCs, loved this one as the rest of the gang played large parts in the story.
Loved how Everly was at the end and she is going to be such a handful in the coming years.
A good story and the addition of a new member of the gang.
